483. Simple Minds - Alive and Kicking

Also considered: Dont You Forget About Me (sorry Binky)
Oh man...this totally brings back memories for me.

It was the summer between 9th grade and defending my PhD dissertation.  I had a huge crush on this gal with moves like Fred Schneider and eyebrows like Frida Kahlo.  We bonded over our mutual admiration of Erasure and Simply Red.

After multiple Bartles and James wine coolers this song came on.  We danced and danced.  Then we went to Sambo’s.

472. Mt. Joy - Astrovan

Also considered: Silver Lining
New to me. I love it.

Lyrics put it over the top imo.

Angels smoking cigarettes on rooftops in fishnets in the morning with the
Moon still glowing
And here comes Jesus in an Astrovan rolling down the strip again
He's stoned while Jerry plays

Life ain't ever what it seems
These dreams are more than paper things
And it's alright mama you're afraid
I'll be poor along the way
I don't wanna see those tears again
You know, Jesus drives an Astrovan
Yes, he does (I say: whoo)

And in my heart there's a holy ghost writhing on the floor from an overdose
You know the best ones never come down
So if I love at the tip of my toes reaching out for the great unknown
Every addict has illusions

Life ain't ever what it seems
These dreams are more than paper things
And it's alright mama you're afraid
I'll be here along the way
I don't wanna see those tears again
You know Jesus drives an Astrovan
Yes, he does (I say: whoo)

And when I see those angels on the roof
I know I've made it when my
Doobie smoking Jesus puts my name up on his guestlist
He said son you're famous in heaven
Maybe you're famous in heaven
Maybe there is no heaven
Maybe we're all along together now
But I don't wanna see those tears again
You know Jesus drives an Astrovan

I don't wanna see those tears again
You know Jesus drives an Astrovan

You're not funny.

though clearly, he did remember to bring his jukebox money.

It was a guy's name but followed by something like "explosion" or "machine" or "experience" or somesuch.  Does the first post have all the selections?  I could probably find it there.
Not updated in a few days but has most.

I always loved this song, but I also consider these 2 equally high:

Crimson and Clover

I Love Rock n Roll

Oh - great lyrics here too:

I don't give a damn 'bout my reputation

You're living in the past, it's a new generation

A girl can do what she wants to do and that's what I'm gonna do

An' I don't give a damn 'bout my bad reputation

Oh no, not me

An' I don't give a damn 'bout my reputation

Never said I wanted to improve my station

An' I'm only doin' good when I'm havin' fun

An' I don't have to please no one

An' I don't give a damn 'bout my bad reputation

Oh no, not me, oh no, not me

I don't give a damn 'bout my reputation

I've never been afraid of any deviation

An' I don't really care if you think I'm strange

I ain't gonna change

An' I'm never gonna care 'bout my bad reputation

Oh no, not me, oh no, not me

Pedal, boys!

An' I don't give a damn 'bout my reputation

The world's in trouble, there's no communication

An' everyone can say what they wanna to say

It never gets better, anyway

So why should I care about a bad reputation anyway?

Oh no, not me, oh no, not me

I don't give a damn 'bout my bad reputation

You're living in the past, it's a new generation

An' I only feel good when I got no pain

An' that's how I'm gonna stay

An' I don't give a damn 'bout my bad reputation

Oh no, not me, oh no, not me

Not me, not me
