Shuke's 1400 favorite songs by 1400 different artists. (1 Viewer)

"Flexible Shuke" would be a rad band name.

(It also sort of sounds like the name of a sex toy that shuke is trying to pass off as a medical device.  "So, how many gross of Flexible ShukesTM can I put you down for?  What?  No!  It helps with, like, sciatica...or something.")

Looking down from the trees...

Where the weeping willow cries...

Yeah there's smoke - from my mouth...from my hands - below my feet...

Green goes in green goes out...

What is your color? Does it go with concrete?

So they mate - on the shore...

Dolphins...

Whose gonna have the last laugh?

Follow the curve of the ammonium maze...

Some really great lyrics in this jazzy piece. I can't find them online tho.

This guy is new to me.

I would mention who this reminds me of, but I don't think you have selected for them yet.

Perfect morning piece.

Love the Spanish guitar on this song.
Robbie Blunt was the guitarist there on "Big Log". Surprisingly didn't do too much afterwards.

Great tune, and probably an even more memorable video. Nothing screams early/mid-'80s like an MTV video with a desolate, middle-of-the-desert setting

448. J. Geils Band - Musta Got Lost

This isn't the live version that gets radio airplay but this is the only one I found footage of.  Looks like Peter Wolf's into rap varied, as there's not "Raputa the Buta" here.

Also considered: Centerfold.  This is an extremely close second.  Had this on 45, and this was HUGE when we were kids.

I see you’ve clocked in. I’m hoping for some great songs and maybe even a fist fight with you and Binky.
no way, big fan of the shuke.

however, I think it's clear he's not open to a certain level of questioning his list.

ETA:  interesting side note, with significant coaching help from shuke, I won a small "after-draft" poker tournament at a Dayton-Cincy FBG league gathering a few years ago.  (if I had a FBG baseball card this could be one of the notes on the back).

I'm going to admit that for some of these artists, the song I post may be the only one I've ever heard, so hopefully people will post their favorites of those I post (especially if they are lesser known).
Bump

Here I am at spot 441.  The next song I have in my list is Freddie King - Going Down.

I'm sure you've heard this covered by many artists.  This was released in 1971, and I couldn't remember if this is the original.  I started looking, and realize that the original by Moloch was the song I posted at spot 837.  King's version is superior, but not really sure I want to take two spots for the same song.

So I'm moving King's version to spot 837b.  For 441, I'm adding an artist I overlooked.  It's not as egregious as the other one I mentioned earlier, which I reveal later.  But I just realized I left out Widespread Panic when I posted that Michael Houser tune.

I'm not a huge Widespread fan.  People expect me to be based on my love of the Dead and Phish.  Don't get me wrong, it's not that I dislike them, and I was lucky enough to see them before Houser's death and I thought it was awesome.  But I just don't ever go out of my way to listen to them anymore.

441. Widespread Panic - Porch Song

This one takes a few minutes to get going, give it some time.

So, you busted a song down nearly 400 spots from where you had it slotted?  That's harsh.
