Sleep Number Bed (1 Viewer)

Wooderson

Fight The Power
Might be getting a sleep number this weekend. Anyone that has one what's your opinion? Certain models worth spending the extra money for?

We want the adjustable mattress part but don't care for the adjustable incline.

We've had one for four or five years now. It's been awesome without a single problem. I prefer a really hard bed, but wife likes a really soft bed. We both now have exactly what we want.

If I were to nitpick - when you roll into the dead center of the bed, you con feel the foam divider.

We went without the incline stuff too.

You mean you can feel the split in the bed that allows the incline? I wonder if there is any split at all if I go with the no incline option.

Did you get the temperature control option?

We will never buy anything else... Wife likes a "soft" mattress and has her side set to 25.. I have my side set 70... Funny part is that due to the difference in settings it's like rolling down hill to get down to her level

We have had one for about 5 years. No incline. No temp control. Both of us are happy with it and are glad we bought it instead of a regular mattress.

I agree with Ned that when moving to the center of the bed it sinks down to some extent. I contacted their customer service and if I remember correctly they sent us another style of mattress. It seemed to help but still can be noticed. Doesn't really bother us though. We would buy the same mattress again.

We bought our mattress at a Sleep Number store but it was sent to our house from their factory or warehouse. We got the base for it too. Had to assemble that and assemble the mattress (not a whole lot to put together so maybe assemble is not the best description).

No I don't have the incline option (or temp control).

There is a foam divider that separates the two air bags that give you to customized beds. If you have two drastic settings in the two different beds, you can feel the foam divider.

Interesting . . as I mentioned above.. Wife has hers set to 25 while mine is 70 and I've never felt the foam... then again, due to the "roll down" effect from the different settings I don't sleep near the middle.

ETA.. I should mention we have the King size. Maybe that is the difference??

Just got back from the store. Got the i8 no incline. 50% with the friends and family discount. Hard to know for sure in the store but damn did it feel nice.

We've had one for 8 years now, and experienced the issue in the middle. We put on a nice foam topper and took care of it quite well.

We've had one for about 12 years - we both put it at about 40 so it was sort of a waste, but it has lasted 10+ years so there is that.  Only issue I am having is that the side of the bed (where the foam edge is) is breaking down and give very little support.

We have the king also. It's nothing terrible, just something I notice when I roll over to the wife's side.  Like I said it's just a nitpick that doesn't bother me, but something I've noticed.

Im a 95, she's a 35. It's like going from a pice of plywood to quicksand

ETA: best bed we've ever owned. LOVE it.

Had one for 20 years.  Wouldn't want anything else. The one we have now has the incline for the top half only because my wife occasionally has reflux issues at night and elevating her head helps.

I've had mine for >10 years. I bought it when I was working for Select Comfort.

Regarding the rolling into the middle issue. As mentioned above, a nice topper will help.

IMO, your pillow is very important also and your pillow needs usually change if you change the firmness of your mattress. Generally you may want to marry a firmer the mattress with a firmer pillow, and a softer mattress with a softer pillow, to maintain a comfortable neck angle.

Most couples seem to prefer the firmer settings on both sides for sex.

If the foam side starts to collapse. You can swap the foam sides. You can call Select Comfort and get another foam piece (you're probably going to have to pay for it).

Remember. Your number and your partner's number are based on your mass. So if someone weighing 115 has a 35, if a 200 lbs person lays on the same mattress the number will then read much higher.

We have had our King sized Sleep number 5000 for 10 years now. Excellent bed. We will have to replace the foam inside the pillow top soon. And having the right pillows for yourselves is also extremely important.

My number is 60 her's is 40.

Love mine, king size i2 I think.  One of the lowest so no incline, temp control or padding on top.  Can feel the centerdivide but its not bothersome.  Wife and I have similar settings but love we can change as we need it.  Next round would probably get one of the fancier models.

On the pillow subject, how do you figure out what pillow you need?  We went and tried out a sleep number bed, my number was 35 and hers was 25, seemed really comfortable in the store, but might check out a new pillow before dropping the money on the bed.  I am tired of waking up with a sore back, though...

bumping this.  Looked at Sleep number today.  C2 seems like the same bed as the i8 except without the mattress topper.  And its like 3k less.  Am i correct in thinking i can buy the c2 and just buy my own topper?

Love the bed but it does require an adjustment to #### on. Don't get the natural bounce back from a spring mattress. Rhythm is a bit different. Adjust your humping accordingly.
