600 billion? Maybe 1, 2.Gee I wonder if there were any special interest groups behind this vote.

Again, it's easy to criticize. And probably correct to do so.I'm for giving the troops raises and creating jobs, but this money could have been better spent adequately caring for the veterans who need help. Do we really need a spy plane that badly?
I've been scouting out girls' locker rooms waiting for this day to come.Ned said:Invisibility cloaks, here we come.
I can certainly blame the Congressmen when they constantly complain about government spending.Again, it's easy to criticize. But suppose you were the Congressman in the district in which the spy plan was being made? Suppose it meant 5,000 direct jobs in your district, along with thousands of indirect jobs as a result? Would you be willing to give that up, in exchange for reducing the annual deficit from 800 billion to 795 billion?
Perhaps you would, and given the state of our finances, it would be a heroic decision. But you can't blame congressmen for thinking otherwise.
Exactly. Especially when that's basically their entire platform - CUT SPENDING!!!I can certainly blame the Congressmen when they constantly complain about government spending.Again, it's easy to criticize. Look at the vote for this bill. Ryan, Cruz, etc. Credibility = gone.
Congress consists of two houses, the Senate and the House of Representatives.Cruz is in the Senate.Exactly. Yet spending bills originate in the House. Except the ACA, of course.Congress consists of two houses, the Senate and the House of Representatives.Cruz is in the Senate.Exactly. (I can't believe I just stood up for tommyGunZ)
I have voiced my outrage with both parties over fiscal irresponsibilities for decades. This thread was no different.Where is the outrage from the righties on the board? We are constantly badgered with calls for social spending reductions due to waste. Here we have the Pentagon actually requesting spending cuts, and the House says no. Is there a more egregious example of waste in our federal budget than this?
The silence is deafening.
I dumped my republican support in 2007 when I realized both parties are owned by the 1%, and we now live in a democratic form of a plutocracy.I have voiced my outrage with both parties over fiscal irresponsibilities for decades. You can really tell when someone has ZERO CLUE when they think that the US Gov't doesn't have an unlimited supply of money. Seen the US debt lately, buddy? Case closed. That was way too easy. You can always tell that someone is out of their league when they play the "printing money" card.Nothing wrong with spending $ when you can print it yourself. Keeps the engine running.
Most of the demonstrations were from the software-focused Innovation Information Office, or I2O, which is just one of DARPA’s many divisions. DARPA hasn’t done a demo day on this scale since 2007, but I2O director Dan Kaufman wanted to bring the tradition back.
"I think that the taxpayers have paid for stuff, and I want to make it open and at least give a chance for people to see the stuff that we’re doing," says Kaufman, a former lawyer who ran a video game company as well as a joint venture for DreamWorks and Microsoft. Kaufman has been the main driver in getting DARPA to open up to the public; he even wrote an algorithm to help the agency select a public relations firm. "If you build stuff and it just stays in a closet, there’s no point to it."
