"So and so did well without a real offseason." (1 Viewer)

To me, the dumbest thing I've heard this offseason when discounting the lockout has been:

"Cam Newton and Darren Sproles didn't have a real Offseason and did just fine."

Every player is different and can be affected by the lockout differently. I think this is a time where you can gobble up potential talent at a reduced price:

Kevin Kolb

Blaine Gabbert

Mark Ingram

Etc.

Some players take longer to get adjusted. It takes some players 3 years, just because it didn't click for someone without an Offseason doesn't mean that player should be written off.

I think there will be more than a few 2nd Year players that are poised to breakout.

IE: If there wasn't a lockout last season, who's to say Torrey Smith wouldn't have taken over Lee Evans starting job from Day 1? Who's to say he wouldn't have put up a great Fantasy year?

You can now get the same player at a very reduced rate than if there wasn't a lockout.

This is all speculative but you should definitely look to gobble up players like Greg Little. Who if there wasn't a lockout may have a higher value right now than he does.

I agree with your general point, but wish you would have selected 3 different players than the ones you did. Bust, bust, hurt. I like the Torrey Smith and Greg Little calls much, much more.

The guys that stepped up last year without an off season should be applauded for doing what they did but the guys that did not don't deserve to be downgraded like many seemed to have.

I just cut Gabbert in my dynasty league. The guy flat out sucks.

I agree with your basic premise, but like Mac, I think you could have chosen better guys to make your example. Smith is a good one. Denarious Moore had a good year, but he could have been much better with more time, and he can be had pretty cheap this year. Vincent Brown from SD is another guy who could make some waves this year.

I actually posted about this in a different thread. While I am so impressed with what Cam and Dalton did last year, I also find it very odd that 2 of the past 3 best seasons of a rookie QB in the past 15+ years, occurred during a lockout. My guess is that we will find in time that the Carolina and Bengals coaches did a wonderful job prepping the QBs for what they "needed" and did not try to jam the whole playbook down their throats.

I will catch grief for this, but I would not be surprised at all if either Newton or Dalton never throw for as many TDs as they did in 2011 in a single season again (Newton had 21, Dalton 20).

Maybe it is just a coincidence and we are seeing the next Brady and Manning in the same draft class, but I really think something is up...lol.
