So I pretty much drafted the entire Rams offense. (1 Viewer)

That the Rams are my favorite team! :football:

14-team league, I drafted 5th.

1st Rd.: LJ, LT, SA, Tiki...I grab SJax, most would, no?

About 18 RBs off the board and three WRs but Holt, my #1 WR (VBD ver. Q), is just sitting there. No brainer at 2.10.

R. Wayne, D. Foster and Jamal Lewis join the squad in Rds. 3-5 and even though several teams need a QB Bulger is just hanging around at 6.10. He is, by far, the best QB on the board and the next guy on my VBD Top 60 list. Hello Marc!

I stopped short of grabbing the Rams Defense, Ike Bruce, and Curtis. I flirted with Wilkins but thought that four starters from one team would be going too far. All the guys in my league are starting to chirp about my "homerism" (we have a guy in the league, team name Da Fins, who drafts almost exclusively Dolphins players) but in reality I was just drafting the best players available. In fact in years past I have passed on Rams players fearing that I had subconciously overvalued them.

Four of my first six picks have a Week 7 bye but otherwise I think I drafted well and I can look forward to Rams games all the more this year. :banned:

Am I just deluding myself and, in fact, did I draft like a guppy homer? :bag: Or did I pull off some savvy drafting and set myself up for some big point totals with the Rams O? :boxing:

You make the call.

trade Holt or Jackson the first week either explode ...... but for a good value, not for trash

I have Bugler / Jackson in one league and its rare that QB/RB combo's work.

Actually, this study by Doug Drinen suggests that QB/RB same team combos tend to make teams more consistent. It's not too hard to see why. Any TD scored by the lead RB or thrown by the QB ends up on your team. You have fewer weeks where both the QB and RB have big games, and fewer weeks where both the QB and RB have poor games. The key as always is to get these combos from a team with both an overall good offense and solid players at each position, and I think the Rams qualify.

QB/WR pairs tend to make your team more volatile, not QB/RB pairs.

 Peyton/Edge in 1999 was a beautiful combo.

My recommendation however would be to avoid the Carr/Lundy combo though.

As was Edge (my 2nd pick) and Harrison (my 3rd pick) that year.

:goodposting: The Hass/SA combo carried me to an easy title in my local league in '03.

I haven't even thought if this. And look, I just happen to be the proud owner of Culpepper and Ronnine Brown. I rule!

That only works with stud RB's on a team. With so many teams going RBBC nowdays, or vulture goal line backs, I don't think it holds water.

Most teams though, do have a #1 WR who the QB can zone in on.

So I'll keep my theory, and they can have theirs.

I'll start few QB/RB combo's.

Bulger / Jackson might work

Hasselbeck / Alexander does

Loseman/McGahee will not

Frye/Droughns won't

Carr/ whoever wont

Favre/whoever wont

depends on the year, last year I had McNabb, Westbrook, Owens combo, carried me to 6-0 and absolutely dominating everone else in the league, before a bad week and a bunch of injuries and suspension along with LT2 on my team....also had Favre, Green combo carry me to a championship....But it all depends on team situation and who the stars are.

" before a bad week and a bunch of injuries and suspension "

Bulger hasn't finished either of the last two seasons, has he ?

Didn't Holt just get an MRI ?

Stephen Jackson has a nagging foot ?

Think long and hard about stacking a team .......... its got many pitfalls

I picked Rudi Johnson at #6 over SJax specifically to AVOID this combo, even though SJax was ranked a little higher for me. I knew I was taking Holt in the 2nd...and Bulger ended up there for me in the 7th.

Too many question marks around this team for me to load up. Bulger/Holt is plenty.

Edit to add: I read Drinen's study...still decided against this one.

If I knew I would get Holt (I figured he'd be gone by the 24th pick even though he was my #1) and Bulger (This league usually gobbles up QBs too early and I always wait for value later. I was targeting Favre in the 8th but couldn't pass on Bulger in the 6th) I would have grabbed Rudi at 1.5.I NEVER expected to grab either Holt or Bulger. I wonder if the Chad Johnson owner would trade me for Holt straight up??? Rudi for SJax?The Rams early schedule is soft. I might have to make a move after Week 5 before the Rams bye...

I had those same 3 last year. Solid squad. However once injuries set in my squad crashed and burned. I would trade one as soon as they have a big week!

Feast or famine would best describe your situation.

Can Bulger stay healthy or will he try to play DB again and lower his throwing shoulder into a lineman after an INT?

Not sure what to make of Holt's situation yet. MRI for precautionary reasons...

Jackson has a nagging heel injury. That guy played through alot last year, but I'm not sold on him being close to 100% on a consistent basis.

Maybe try and trade one of these guys as you suggest. Diversifying your portfolio would be a shark move.

I got SJax and Holt at #7 and #18 in a PPR. Didn't think I'd get Holt that late since I think he is the #1 or #2 WR this year. Hoping I can count on Parker/Foster/T. Jones (I can't right now) and maybe I can deal SJax for another #1 WR.

As far as you getting Bulger, I don't think it is neccessarily bad as long as the Rams O is consistent.

I did the same thing: Jackson at 7 and then Holt in the 2nd round and grabbed Bulger in 7th. I agonized about the Jackson/Holt scenario before the draft and considered taking Rudy even though I had Jackson ranked higher. But instead, I just picked the best player who had the most value. Jamal Lewis is #2 RB and he also has the week 7 bye.

I've been working the other owners looking to make a deal to split up Jackson and Holt, but my eagerness makes me lose any leverage in any deal. But despite my uncomfortableness (I think thats a word) if they all perform at the level I had projected them, then it shouldn't matter if they are all on the same team.

Four of my first six picks have a Week 7 bye but otherwise I think I drafted well and I can look forward to Rams games all the more this year. :banned:
No otherwise about it. Having the majority of your starters with the same bye week actually makes your squad STRONGER. You have one pretty much guaranteed loss, but after that, you have a very solid advantage all of the other bye weeks when everyone else is sitting studs and you have your entire core intact.

I don't mind the idea of stacking players from one team. I just don't think the rams look very good this season. Martz was an offensive genius (even if he was a ####### in every other aspect of the game) and losing him takes some of the "high-flying" out of this offense. Who knows how these guys will respond to Linehan?

Bulger is made of glass, as well. Holt and Jackson are already hurting before the season starts and each had nagging injuries last season. I'd be looking to trade Jackson and Bulger for good value right now.

Yeah, I think I'll just plan a Family Weekend for Week 7 as both my Rams and my fantasy squad will be taking a week off. :D Should score me some points with the wife, too!
