Songs that Could've Been Way Better (1 Viewer)

"Rosanna" by Toto has a great intro, and the verse is cool too. But the "not quite a year...." And "meet you all the way" parts completely kill the vibe for me.

Same with "Since You're Gone" by The Cars. Fantastic intro but Rick Ocasek brings me from midnight to six. I'd honestly rather just listen to the intro on repeat.

I've said this before on this board and I've gotten roasted for it. The Beatles "Revolution" is way overkill on the distortion on electric guitar. It would be a significantly better song if it was used more sparingly.

I heard an acoustic version that was much better

Foreigner, Blinded by the Light.....WTF were they thinking with "wrapped up like a #####"......could have been something cooler like "reved up like a deuce".

Foreigner?
I thought it was Styx
Nevermind....a brain fart....was thinking about Blinded by Science
Oh yes I remember

It's poetry in motion

And now she's making love to me

The spheres're in commotion

Wrapped up like douch

She blinded me with science

"She blinded me with science!"

And hit me with technology

Maybe not way better but 'Every Breath You Take' could have been better. The best part was only sung once.

Since you've gone I've been lost without a trace
I dream at night I can only see your face
I look around but it's you I can't replace
I feel so cold and I long for your embrace
I keep on crying baby, baby please

Exactly.

All Summer Long

And we were trying different things, we were smoking funny things
Really, ya cant find another word to rhyme with things?
Everyone knows that nothing rhymes with orange, purple, silver or things. Proven fact.

The Beastie Boys once had a rhyme that went:

Everybody rappin' like it's a commercial,

Acting like life is a big commercial.

I distinctly remember being on the receiving end of the dreaded purple nurple back in the 6th grade

GMF

Were it not for the absolutely insane lyrics... This is a beautiful melody.

I think they took a few too many punches in their quest to defend their right to party.

"Wishing Well" by Terrence Trent D'arby. Always wanted to like that song but that out of place goofy sounding part between verses ruined it.

Whiter Shade of Pale could have had a great chorus. It builds and builds during the verses then just resolves.

Think about how Tiny Dancer does it.

It's a bridge. You just like the bridge.

Jesse's Girl.....personally I love the song.....but it seems really short and I thought more could have been done with it/the story.....a few more of the rythm changes which were pretty killer or something....

Crazy Train needs that awesome guitar rift to be longer and happen more than twice. Honestly, the rest of the song isn't that good. It's 4:30 of 'meh' for 30 seconds of awesome guitar.

The intro riff is the least interesting thing RR does in that song, imo.

And Whiter Shade of Pale is perfect exactly how it is, also imo.

No offense, but #### you. This song is the bane of my existence.

Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd should have repeated the chorus. It's only sung once, which is a waste of a great chorus.

Hey Jude goes on way past where they should have ended. Do we really need 2 minutes of "Naaa na na nananana, nananana, hey Jude?"

Same thing with the piano ending of Layla.

That's part of what makes it great. I wish more songwriters followed that lead. It's one of the many reasons I think Robert Pollard is a such a brilliant songwriter. More often than not, he does not repeat verses or choruses.

Hey Jude does meander a bit, but Layla is Layla.

Grand Funk Railroad should have stopped a bit earlier getting closer to home.

Are you not hearing Duane Allman there? He is what makes that work, imo.

I'm with you on Hey Jude.

Die Entführung aus dem Serail is a fine opera, but there really are just too many notes.
