SP Mock Invitational--5th round? Uh huh....5th round...... (2 Viewers)

By the way, I am sure the deals on the table include 2017 picks, but just a thought that maybe we try to avoid those since they really don't exist in this mock. I don't care about people jumping in front because I have 3 guys I like almost equally. I was thinking about it and thought it might be a better draft to see what teams (and their expert pickers) would do in this draft with these players. No big deal either way, just throwing it out there.

That is a fair point that 2017 picks do not exist for the purpose of this mock.

This is something I would try to offer because it is pretty much the best value deal I can think of.as  I have limited resources.

The 5th year option is nice and I think worth paying some draft capital for, but not something so important to move all my picks for, like the Patriots deal Spielman did for Patterson.

I edited my post to read as follows:

IMO there is zero chance the Seahawks take a WR at this spot. I think it is much more likely they go DL or OL here.

ETA: They still have Graham under contract. Aside from that, they still have Baldwin, who broke out last season, and Lockett, who was very impressive as a rookie last year. They just re-signed Kearse this offseason, and Paul Richardson, who they drafted 45th in 2014, should return from injury.

As for your bolded comment, you do realize that Baldwin had 14 TDs last season, right?
Seems the Seahawks might take bpa, which he could be.

Not my offer

I think Seattle takes the Bama C, the middle of the OL was weak without Unger and they have to keep Wilson upright.  Short QBs normally don't handle a collapsed pocket well.  Wilson was Houdini the last few years though.....

Agreed.  I had one, never considered it really.

Cards select Ryan Kelly, center, Alabama.

I really wanted Leonard Floyd here to help with the pass rush. No telling how long Chandler Jones will be in town and you can never have too many pass rushers.

Would have also considered Lynch here. Now is not a bad time to think about drafting Palmer's backup.

in the end, went with an upgrade to the offensive line at the weakest position along the front five.

I feel so kind actually paying attention to Soulfly!

Totally forgot Floyd was there, oops.

And I felt the same way about Treadwell, amazing value, but 0% chance of really happening.

Nice pick. I was hoping he would make it to 35.

I'm not positive Treadwell won't slip, I've seen more and more mocks with him in the bottom 8th of the first, most often to the Packers, but I could see the Seahawks taking him. I don't think Graham will ever return to any kind of semblance of what he was outside of Seattle while hes still there. Teams figured out that Graham is kind of a ##### and its easier to manhandle him than it is to beat him - and they've gotten away with it for two years, no reason to suspect that changes.

Right, and Wilson had 34 TD passes last season. Graham had 2 of them. I'm not seeing the issue.

Meanwhile, in addition to Graham returning, Richardson should return from injury and Lockett should be improved as a second year player. Sure, anything is possible. But I think the Seahawks would trade down with a team that covets Treadwell before drafting him. They need OL help badly, and they also need DL help if they want to try to maintain what they have had there in the aftermath of losing Irvin and Mebane. I would be very surprised if they make the pick they are holding and it isn't OL/DL.

Well, a couple of offers, but honestly Carolina doesn't need quantity of picks, we want a few quality guys.

1.30 Carolina Panthers select Corey Coleman, WR, Baylor

I had 3 guys, one got picked (Apple, would have likely taken him). That said, the other was a DT and we already have a nice 4 man rotation and without Norman, we are likely keeping Short and Star long term so I'd rather go BPA at WR than DT since it was splitting hairs between the two.

Norman? We don't need no stinking Norman. We are just going to outscore teams by more this year. We had the #2 rushing offense in 2015. We were #3 in passing TDs, but only #24 in passing yards. Coleman adds a dimension to the passing offense that makes it deadly. Think about it. Carolina was #1 in scoring offense and while we have a more difficult schedule in 2015, we are basically adding Kelvin Benjamin and Corey Coleman to that offense. It is going to be a lot of fun, so thanks everyone for letting Coleman drop into our laps.

If someone wants to use a 2017 pick, and more importantly, another team is willing to accept a pick they cannot use, I have no problem with that.  Everyone has access to the value chart, I see no problem with that.

That's fine. I only suggested it because people would more easily give up a pick in a mock draft that never happens. Honestly, I'd love to do it as well, but I don't think it would correctly match what Gettleman would do, so I won't.

Not necessarily. The Bengals were after him furiously
I wanted him so I needed to be blown away. Your second was too low to move down to and Soulfly offered me a low round pick which wasn't enough since I'd rather have Coleman if a DE/CB doesn't fall.

LOL. The bolded is a red flag for regression, not a reason for optimism. Especially considering the Panthers' schedule last season.

Coleman was the other player I was willing to move up for. Cool staying at 54 now.

I fell in love with the idea of not only getting one WR I wanted but two. Too costly however. Not only that but my offer of a 2nd round pick in 2017 deemed the uncouth behavior of ruffians!!

With the Panthers' selection of Coleman, they can start Benjamin and Funchess on the outside with Coleman in the slot.

Ginn can be moved to nickelback now.  That's where receivers that can't catch go anyway, right?   :D

Good morning Borden.

2.33 The Tennessee Titans select Andrew Billings, NT, Baylor.

The Titans will build the center of their defense in this draft. With a toughened and improved defense and with MM franchise at the helm this team will be a force. Try running against us now fools.

1.15 Reggie Ragland, LB, Alabama

2.33 Andrew Billings, DT, Baylor

Good pick. He was my second option but since Norman is gone that makes it just about 100% that we extend both DTs. That helped me decide my coin flip between Coleman and Billings.

I love Billings in the middle of a 3-4 but I'd have taken Coleman in your spot everyday and twice on Sunday.

Yeah, we have Star and Short as the front line and Solai/Love in the rotation, so we really don't need a DT. I would still take Billings if Coleman is gone as BPA and know that when it came to a pass rushing down we would have Johnson and Ealy on the edge with Billings and Short pushing through the middle. That would be one hell of a pass rush without even blitzing.

1st page updated.  I put Noah Spence in there, looks like Dezbelief picked him.

If you are a few picks away, PM me a list.

If you pick, feel free to PM next owner.

Those are only last resorts, however.  What is most helpful is to come into the thread and complain.

I always think it's silly to say "that will never happen" in these things, and I wanted Spence to fall to me, but I really would be amazed to see the Cowboys use another early pick on a player with a checkered drug history.

:D  Except you're talking about a franchise led by a man who (a) DGAF and (b) doesn't learn from his mistakes.

I think Spence (and/or Nkemdiche) to the 'Boys is too perfect not to happen.

It would sure be fun to see.

I could see a guy like Shilique Calhoun go them in the 2nd round as well.
