Spencer Ware, possibly the new work horse (3 Viewers)

He went undrafted in my 10 and 12 team redrafts. 

I scooped him up in both. Figure he may be trade bait to the Charles owners or I might even get something from him early in the year.

What is fairly priced WR3 price for Ware right now?

II'm hurting at WR3 until Gordon comes back. I have Freeman/Ingram with Duke in the Flex, backed by Henry & DeAndre Washington. Ware is a luxury & would be a lineup decision headache. My WRs are Hopkins/Landry backed by Fuller, Pryor, Thomas - not sure any of them will contribute Week 1.

 
I was trying to get Marvin jones for ware.  Charles owner didn't bite.  Offered me perriman or r. Mathews.  I told him no deal.  He can sit on my bench while the charles owner watches him score. Prob cost him a couple wins early in the year.  He has no rb depth at all

Not even sure how Perriman would come up in that conversation.

I thought it was fair.  We start 2 rb.  He has miller, charles, and henry.  Nothing else

I was hoping for a Maclin or K. Benjamin type swap. Instead I'm looking at offers of Funchess or T. Benjamin. I actually like Devon this year and with Kelvin on a snap count he could be productive early on.

it's tough getting perceived value from the hot WW pickup. In this situation he might only have value for 1-2 weeks. We might think the likelihood is much more, but it's hard to get people to pay.

I like Ware but why would anyone look to give that up for a backup RB who will be in a rbbc for the time he has the starting job? Charcandrick West will steal a lot of touches and Charles will be back soon. Pretty inflated price if you ask me.

Yeah maclin and benjamin are too much for ware.  I thought marvin jones was close

I'll probably take Funchess I need a short term fix until Gordon gets on the field

Would never use Ware because I have better options - who knows what his value will be in two weeks

1. Why are you counting on Gordon, have we not learned?
2. Why did you not draft accordingly?

Well I just picked up Ware, I'm a J. Charles owner. Dropped Fitzpatrick in a start 2-QB league (already have Brees and Newton). Fitzpatrick is nice to have as a backup QB but considering that my RB2 is Ryan Mathews or Ameer Abdullah, then yeah I think this was necessary.

I drafted on my iPhone while driving down the NYS thruway, returning from a long weekend. Got to Harlem and pulled over to get some iced coffee and look at my team for the first time (I was just making picks on the fly.) First thought was WTF drafted this team? ETA: by then it was the 15th round

Who is your BYE week QB for Brees and Newton ? Picking up Ware is a great move if you still have 3 QBs.

I don't have a 3rd QB right now, and honestly I can't really drop anyone. I have J. Gordon, Crowell, D. Johnson, Allen Hurns, Abdullah, R. Mathews...

Will have to find someone for their BYE's though. Just have to hope Brees and Newton stay healthy.

 
August 31: This week, Andy Reid told reporters that Tamba Hali was "a little further along" than Charles, who was "making progress" in his recovery. Those comments became a hot button topic, and deservedly so. But I'm not sure there's a worrisome subtext here. Charles was reportedly ahead of schedule throughout the offseason but the Chiefs frequently said they planned to bring him along slowly in the later stages of his rehab. Charles was asking to do more than just individual work after being activated off PUP. If the Chiefs were worried about Charles' availability, they would have hedged and kept him on the PUP list. And there's been no report of a setback or compensation injury.

Charles has since said, "I am full go right now. I'm out here, I'm practicing, and I can't be happier about where I'm at." I think this is more about the Chiefs' caution than Charles' health. Those things aren't exclusive, of course, but I'm not seeing the same gloom-and-doom that others are here. It's tough to argue Charles will receive a full workload in Week 1 without having participated in a preseason game, but I don't believe Charles is at risk of falling into full-blown committee back status. 

I wouldn't draft Charles until the second half of the second round, but I think the RB8 ADP tier is reasonable.

FBG writers seem to agree with me *shrug*

At this point in time--Maclin and K Benjamin are worth moderately more than Ware.   However--Funchess and T Benjamin are shooting far too low for a guy like Ware.    I think the dichotomy here is that people are either way too high, or way too low on Ware.   Reading through a lot of this thread--Ware falling anywhere past pick 100 or so at this point in time is absolutely insane to me.   This is not some "hype" player--this dude flat out balled the last time he was the feature back.  Jamaal is a high mileage running back that is no longer a spring chicken.  He's coming off a major injury--and both him and his coach seemed a bit down about his outlook.  Let's also not  overlook the fact that the Chiefs are possibly looking to add David Cobb--which I think would be a 4th running back.  I'm inclined to think that this probably means that they prefer to ease Charles back in as much as possible--and it also could mean that West might not fully be there.   The key here is that with Ware--I think that there are enough arrows pointing in the direction of "there is more here than just hype".   We've all heard the phrase "where there is smoke--there is fire"--and so far every thing seems to be pointing to Ware having some sort of moderate to significant role.   I read earlier in this thread that he got drafted at 40 overall in a draft yesterday--which seems too high---but I also see zero reason for him to fall anywhere below the 80-85th pick in any draft format.

I totally understand your point--but I do feel like it's a bit incomplete.  The key is that this story is being backed up and perepetuated by information that does nothing but reinforce it.   The only people that are fully aware of the Charles situation are Charles himself and the Cheifs organization.   The Chiefs are still looking to bring in another RB--so that certainly backs up the story a bit.  Also--comments made by both Reid and Charles fall very short of displaying full confidence in the status of Charles.   Do not get me wrong--I want to make crystal clear that I am not saying/predicting that I think Charles will be fools gold this year.  I think he could very well be solid.  However--with that being said--a good fantasy football owner digests the available information and acts upon it.  For me personally--I think the available information encourages me to consider Charles closer to the late third into the 4th round--and to look at Ware anywhere between the 6th and 8th rounds.

Charles went 3.04

Ware went 13.06

West undrafted

 
Drafting West in round 16. I'm not "buying" that a RB that impressive last year is a 3rd string contribute little type guy and round 16 allows me to take a chance.

I think this screams of both Charles and West being a ways away from being 100%.

 
I drafted Ware at #88 overall, #31 RB drafted in a 12 team 0.5 PPR redraft yesterday. Could be the SOD.

I also play in 2 dynasty leagues and own him in both. My last redraft is Tuesday night, and I hope to get him there too, so I have him on all of my teams.

Have him my dynasty as well. Buying in redraft everywhere too. 

 
I own him in 8/13 dynos, but am having trouble getting on board the hype train.  This is still going to be Jamaal's show sooner or later -- if not for Todd Haley and the two ACL's he'd be entering the GOAT conversation right now, and I don't think he's done.  Having said, I'm a lot happier owning both than I am in the two leagues where I only have Charles.

Happens every year. Forsett finished top 5 at age 28 and did nothing before that. That said, Ware is obviously a great pick that late.  I don't believe all this hype but I would still drop a round 10+ pick on Ware as a legit workhorse backup (plus standalone value).

You're right, I read it wrong in the Yahoo draft summary, apparently they had him rated at #45. I drafted him at #88 overall, and he was the #31 RB drafted.
