Spencer Ware, possibly the new work horse (1 Viewer)

Players have come back after 1 week before. It's just more common for them to sit 1 week and then come back. The Chiefs have West who's serviceable and they play the lowly Jag's this week. They shouldn't need Ware to win this game. I'd say they sit him.

Question is how much to bid or how hard to chase West... I don't think this absence is long for Ware, BUT this reconfirms the need to handcuff here.

I got lazy and now I'm gonna pay for it

Didn't D. Adams just suffer a concussion on a Sunday and play in a Thursday night game?

FWIW, I think Ware plays this week and I'm still blowing my FAAB on West.

Ware has had a fair of injuries in the past and he's a violent runner. Imagine for a moment you were a Zeke owner and Morris was on the WW, what would you do?

Wait to pick up West after week 9 where Ware goes off and the guy that wins him this week drops him again.
This seems like a low percentage play since it hinges on you accurately predicting Ware's availability, performance and the movements of a manager in your league. There are too many scenarios in which it won't work out in your favor.

Exactly

you guys hat are convinced Ware is playing, can I introduce you to the Dwayne Washington thread as well?

I would've picked him up BEFORE he got hurt

Are they Siamese twins?  What does one have to do with the other?  That's like comparing him to Jordan Reed and claiming he can still perform well for 6 more concussions.

Each situation is different.  The problem is owners are in limbo until they see an update.  I do think the wise move is to grab West as insurance regardless if Ware can or can not play this week.

Regarding West, I think @SameSongNDance is right.  As a Ware owner, you gotta get that guy on your team.  Hopefully some positive news comes out today on Ware and we can do so more cheaply, but West has to be owned.  The ultimate downside here would be Ware missing a week or two, West looking really good, and Ware returning to a red zone/goal line back scenario.  I don't think that's going to happen, but it's not out of the question.  Hopefully Ware plays, and we can get our handcuff for less.  But, speaking for myself, I'm going to go find a way to get West on my roster.

Guys, the second the alert came across that JC was out this week, anyone who hadn't yet should have picked up West for free.  Then, when the alert came out that JC was going to see Dr. Andrews, if you hadn't yet, you shoulda gotten West.  It's that simple.  Preventative maintenance.

If they resign Knile Davis, what does this mean for West as the cuff to Ware? In the past two years, these guys have leapfrogged around the pecking order based on health and doing something with the opportunities they were given as a result.

When Charles went down last year, it was West and Davis who came in to back him up; Ware got a shot when both West and Davis were dinged and never looked back as far as being the #1 option after Charles.

This year, if Ware is out for a game -- or even considering his handcuff going forward -- if they resign Davis it all goes back up in the air. Ware is definitely the main guy when healthy, but who knows what a split between West and Davis might be in relief.

Obviously ahead of my skis here as I don't have any indication whatsoever KC is out to resign Davis, maybe makes less sense with the Sankey signing, maybe not (if Charles goes to IT). Still, makes me think that blowing FAAB on West isnot a guarantee that you are locking up KC's run game behing Ware. If I have to drop a player with better potential late season upside like Kenny Dixon for West, I may be thinking twice about cuffing Ware..

I think that speaks more to Charles maybe going to IR then an issue with Ware.
I agree, seems like more of a longer term move than a 1 week fix, but still seemed like relevant news here given the whole situation is in limbo right now.

They obviously felt more comfortable keeping West & trading Davis for pennies... And they signed Sankey now too.

Davis is nothing.

You're over thinking it

You're over thinking it
Been accused of this and much worse before, but curious, what exactly do you think is being overthought, here?

That West may not end up being the clear cut cuff to own in this situation?

That KC isn't going to resign Davis now that they have Sankey?

That the split between West and Sankey will greatly favor West?

That Ware will likely be back in a week so why bother with West as a cuff?

Even if he plays, I won't trust Ware enough to put him in my lineup right away. I can cover this week no problem, even with all the byes, but I would say even if he's good to go West is the play this week.

Totally disagree. Based on Ware's ability and history, if he is suited up to play this week, he is in my lineup. Especially against JAX who are in the cellar in terms of defending the run.

Why do you say that? Jordan Reed sat out 2 weeks with a concussion and showed no ill effects last week. And Reed has way more of a problem with concussions than Ware.

Reid has been playing it conservative with players coming back from injuries. Haven't seen the practice report but if he's not practicing, nothing we've seen this year leads me to believe Reid will gameplan for him to carry a load like he has in previous weeks. West is a capable back that can carry the load against a poor defense, and there is no question that he'll go, so prepare with what you got.
