Sproles is probably finished in San Diego (1 Viewer)

Darren Sproles has likely played his last game as a Charger, according to the North County Times.

As the Chargers' franchise player in 2010, Sproles was paid $7.283 million to touch the ball 109 times on offense while struggling to make big plays in the return game. Now an unrestricted free agent, he'll almost certainly take a significant pay cut wherever he lands.

Since he's been a thorn in the side of Indy for most of his career, how about they sign him as a COP back?

The Chargers have changed their minds. The team is placing a first-and-third tender on running back Darren Sproles, sources said Thursday morning. Sproles had been notified last week the Chargers would not tender him as a restricted free agent and would allow him to test the market as an unrestricted free agent. The move guarantees Sproles a salary of $7.27 million if he stays with the Chargers, unless the club can sign him to a long-term deal. He made $6.62 million last season as the Chargers' franchise player and is entitled to a 10 percent raise. The Chargers' initial thinking in not tendering Sproles was that they couldn't justify paying a kick returner and third-down back that much. They had hoped to continue talking to him about a multiyear contract even as he tested the market.
14 million over 2 years. A franchise tag then placing a tender to make him a RFA. Unreal

I have a feeling Michael Bush ends up in SD. I know that there have been trade rumors involving him and SD the past two off seasons.

Didn't they get their MBush when they drafted Matthews? Would they want two similar type backs? What would a move like this do to Matthews and MBush's value if this were to go down?

AJ Smith has officially moved into the Dan Snyder/Jerry Jones tier.
He's not a megalomaniacal owner who's way out of his league. He's a GM who generally knows what he's doing but has some rather odd ideas about how to build a team. Ted Thompson is a better comparable.
