St. Louis offense (1 Viewer)

Before I start this I will admit he is getting yards, but in fantasy TD's are everything with your 1st round back. That being said I honestly thought Jackson could move into 4th spot behind the big 3 this year with a committment to the running game. O.K., he's getting 20 touches a game but that is not good enough with a QB like Bulger. Bulgers stats over the years have been good but that is only b/c they play call 40 passes a game.

SJAX is the kind of back who NEEDS 25-30 carries a game to be effective. He is also a bruiser who deserves more than 1 chance in the redzone. I hate how the Rams pass on 1st down ALL the time.

With back to back games against S|F and Arizona I thought he would get in the endzone at least once! Each week the experts have been calling for this to be "the week" for Jackson.

Is there anyone in St. Louis that can give me some info about the coaching staff. Is there a buzz on talk radio questioning the use of their running game. The reason the rams were successful in the past was b/c they used Faulk to set up the pass. Now they use the pass to set up the run and they jump ship as soon as SJAX gets stuffed at the line. No wonder he dances around behind the line. He probably thinks he has to break one everytime or else the staff is just going to pass.

Maybe it's just me but I am bitter that I chose Jackson over Rudi. Not b/c of Jackson as a player but b/c of the coaching staff and their trigger happy attitude with the passing game.

Please help me out with any local info. Thanks! :wall:

he's always been overrated...he dances too much behind the line.

he only looks like he's running hard because of his crazy hair flops around.

avg back at best

Jackson is talented, but too tentative. It's not clear that he will ever learn how to just put his head down and turn 0 yards into 2 or 3.

SJax is actually doing better than I had anticipated with two pretty darn good weeks. Not even I would say Tiki Barber is a third tier back even though he's looked like Ernest Byner the past two games. The NFL is funny, man. When it looks the most obvious is when things go haywire, and when everything looks bad for a guys chances, he explodes.

We've got a new system, injuries along the line, a guard playing center, guys that should have retired 3 years ago at guard, a young tackle and Pace injured. Martz or no Martz, this team continues to throw a lot in the red zone and goal line situations.

Rumours are tha Linnehan threw his hands in the air yesterday and said "screw it - this aint working" and decided to let Bulger go back to some old Martz era timing passes after the first quarter as they've been unable to move the ball with Bulger under center in this system.

SJax is just not likely going to score a lot of TDs this season. It seems like a good run or a stuff everytime and has for 3 seasons. They havent looked willing to risk going backward in those situations. Give him the ball once, nothing happens and they start throwing. Yes, he does dance a little too much. It seems like if its not a straight ahead run, he shuffles, hops and destroys his momentum.

He's likely to still be at the bottom of the Top 10 -12 RBs by seasons end.

this is one of those situations where its most of the blame can be put squarely on the shoulders of the people calling the plays.

next week ill predict the plays stl calls and ill be right more often than not... (espcially in the RZ where i could just call PASS all day long and be 90% right)

horrid play calling

I just posted something on the Rams play-calling:http://forums.footballguys.com/forum/index...howtopic=273220

Didn't see this thread or I probably would have just posted it here.

How do you reconcile this explanation with the statement in your first paragraph about Bulger throwing "40 passes a game"? The Rams under Martz passed to set up the run. I doubt most people around here think otherwise since the usual critique of Martz I see here is that he passes too much.

1st, Jackson had 24 carries yesterday. Seems like plenty to me.2nd, I don't think Jackson's a bruiser in short-yardage. But that aside, he had 2 different carries on 1st and goal from the 6 yesterday, for -2 and -4 yards. So, you may be right that he could use more touches, but 2nd and goal from the 10 is a passing down for the Rams.3rd, Jackson had 14 carries on 1st D yesterday. Just going through the play by play, I count something like 15 rush plays and 12 pass plays on 1st D. I count 32 yards for Jackson's 14 1st D carries. If anything, I'd expect to see people complaining about just the opposite.

Watch Jackson break out with 25-110-2 next week, and the speculation will turn to another RB.
Exactly...As an SJax owner 3 times over, I'm not worried at all. That's probably because I am managing to still win some games despite his early mediocrity. If I were losing I'd probably have a bit less patience, but I think he'll turn it around. He's too good not to.
