Star wars had epic, flawed good guys. Luke was too young. Obi Wan was too old. It had the baddest of bad guys. They were hopelessly outmatched. Obi Wan use the force.

Oh, you have a cool space ship? Ours destroys whole planets. You can move stuff if you really concentrate? that's neat. Now let me throw huge boxes at you in the middle of our fight and my boss can shoot lightning out of his fingertips. Now go back and get training from a dying three foot tall Muppet who barely speaks English and eats your candy bars while he hits you with a stick.

Star trek never had that. Which allowed them to really do whatever they wanted, which was great. But every episode or movie wrapped up too neatly. oh no. we are getting pulled in to the something science and turrets no way out. What if I just change the frequency of the crystals in your camcorder and set your phasers to. 27. omg it worked. So hokey.

Even when they had a cool bad guy they still couldn't figure out how to make it interesting. Kirk ####### aliens was fun for a while. Khan didn't last long enough to be a good foil. They had a ton of episodes with the borg who were supposed to learn how to beat you but every episode involved them successfully punching one before the second one came up with a shield. I guess they forget about punching. It was all kind if contrived. And number two with his weird beard constantly trying to #### Deanna was just creepy after a while.

star wars. Star Trek only went 3 seasons, got cancelled and was about to fold as a franchise until Wrath of Khan came out. I mean, I'm glad it didn't but it never reached the popularity of Star Wars, not even close.

Star Wars showed in many theaters for a year. It basically ran the entire summer of 1977 as the single major blockbuster. Imagine a Hunger Games or Terminator movie coming out and dominating the box office for 3 full months.

I was born in 1980. I prefer the Star Trek franchise, especially TNG. I get that Star Wars was the leader, I just wasn't there to appreciate it.

Star Wars. Even with the prequels. Star Trek was great but they paint too rosey a picture of our future. Too many conflicts decided by bull####.

Star Wars. Not even a contest. The fact that Abrams could make a good first movie and decent second movie with that Star Trek source material is amazing. He's going to kill it with Star Wars to work with.

So, winner, Star Trek?

Love both, but discovered Star Trek first and if forced (heh) to choose in a first among equals situation, it would be Star Trek. And I would miss Star Wars very much. Now let's get Trek back on TV where it belongs.

:lmao:

The original Star Trek series was more about ideas, philosophies, social commentary and many episodes had a cool mind-#### at the end...

The space stuff more of a means to an end. When you make the ends, the space stuff, it doesn't work as well. To me, that is the classic Star Trek.

I find your lack of faith appreciation disturbing

Star Wars.

Interesting topic though, so hard to compare the two. The major positives I thought of for each were kind of unique to it and there wasn't much of a comparison to be made with the other.

Star Wars, not close.

I would take the battle on Hoth alone over everything Star Trek combined.

Most of the Star Trek movies sucked...I only truly enjoyed Kahn, Borg and the first reboot. The other 10 or so sucked.

Even though I voted Star Wars....
