StarCaps updates? (1 Viewer)

OK, I've been trying to wait this one out but is there any REAL news from any reliable source, on the most likely outcome for their suspensions to be enforced this season?

From what I can tell so far the state court held up there suspensions but now a federal judge is taking her time to make a decision. Is it safe to say that until she makes a ruling none of the StarCaps guys will be suspended?

It seems like right now this thing will drag on throughout the season, but does anyone have anything to add?

I have two drafts this weekend and have to decide how much this will affect my boards for alot of players.

Thanks.

i don't think grant or smith are going to play. their appeals have been denied and will serve the 4 games suspensions. they will be replaced by bobby mccray and anthony hargrove, i think.

If McCray does well Grant may not start when he gets back.

Last I heard, the Williamses had blocked their suspension. I've been awaiting an update myself. Here's the last thing I read:

If there's any more recent news, I'd love to hear it.
Yeah, I saw that report awhile back, the most recent reports that I've seen are:http://www.startribune.com/sports/vikings/...D3aPc:_Yyc:aUU)

"A ruling by Hennepin County District Court Judge Gary Larson on Wednesday stayed action in his courtroom until the U.S. District Court determines whether it has jurisdiction on some of the players' claims. U.S. District Judge Paul Magnuson already has said the court does not, but a federal three-judge panel is hearing an appeal of Magnuson's ruling in St. Paul on Aug. 18. After the panel issues a ruling, an appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court by the losing side is likely, further delaying action in state court.

If the federal court determines the case should be conducted in state court, Larson wrote, "it is not likely that the [Hennepin County] court would, or could force [the players] into trial during the middle of a playing season, based on the court's schedule."

http://www.startribune.com/sports/vikings/...PciUoaEYY_4PcUU

"For an hour, three judges from the Eighth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals actively questioned lawyers for the NFL, the players' union and the players. The panel's chairwoman, Judge Diana Murphy, said they would rule in "due time, keeping in mind the start of the season." Judges Duane Benton and Bobby Shepherd made up the rest of the panel."

The worst line from that report...

"I guess we just wait now," Pat Williams said after the hearing"

...is agonizing.

it's possible but i wouldn't count on it. mccray is a little light and may not be able to hold up. mccray is better suited as a pass rush specialist, i think, but who knows?

I don't see how if the Williams' suspension get overturned that Grant & Smith will still be suspended? :hot:

Double standard?

McCray replacing Grant? :lmao:

Not double standard, different states. The Vikes players and NFLPA are using Minnesota state law in their suit against the NFL. The articles talk in detail about it.Not sure if the NFLPA can use whatever the ruling is in Federal court to challenge the Saints players suspensions.

Double standard?

McCray replacing Grant? :(
there is some opinion that grant has underachieved. this suspension, along with the cloud of suspicion regarding the murder charge and the fact he showed up to camp grossly overwight, makes public opinion supporting him 100% iffy. if mccray - who by all accounts has had a great camp - can show something in the 4 game audition then he could be the starter.
