Starting Arian Foster over __________ (1 Viewer)

If this is deemed an ACF thread, please move to the appropriate forum. Just trying to gauge Foster's value this week. I think he has the potential to have a Quentin Ganther-like week this week for owners desperate enough.

Right now, I'm debating between Ganther, Foster and one of the Eagle RBs (Weaver/McCoy).

Interested in whether others feel like this guys is worth rolling the dice on in a nice matchup against StL.

Starting him over Snelling (assuming Turner out), Weaver and chose to pick him up over C Jennings from Browns with priority on WW. think he has bigger upside given match up. Have Schaub so hoping they can hook up on a long screen pass TD. Real risk is Kubiak. He does hate fumbles and said that Moats sucks in pass protection, so hoping he is telling the truth about Foster's touches.

Coach came out and said he will be giving Foster more touches. It's the Rams who are starting a 3rd string QB, plan on the Texans being ahead going into the 2nd half and Foster to see a lot of action. They like him and want to get him the ball more to see what they have for the future.

Put another way, he could be a top25 candidate this week easily which is far ahead of where FBG has him projected. They used a very conservative number for him this week.

......DeAngelo Williams

Shotty O-Line

Backup QB

Great opposing Def

Should be playing from behind

Sharing with JStew

Sore Ankle

.......any questions?

I got to start two of Ganther, Foster, McCoy, Caddy and K Faulk in PPR league... with K Smith and Portis on IR.

Foster and Ganther may be the way I go this week... I am tired of the Eagles just not using McCoy.

How are you still in it with those RBs

Probably starting him over Moats and Hightower. Living in Houston at the moment and it seems like Kubiak really likes his ability to pick up the rush. I think they may give him a major shot this w/e especially if they're up by a wide margin (which I expect). Just a hunch though.

This was a big deal while he was in Denver under Shanahan. If Kubes is impressed with his pass-protection skills, that may go a long way.

OK you convinced me, Minnesotas run def sux!
:goodposting: no, they are obviously good ... but it was pointed out to me earlier today in another thread that they have allowed the fewest rush attempts in the league and if you actually look at the yards per attempt it makes it a little less convincing for those considering to bench Williams the bottom line is that if Carolina doesn't let Minnesota run away with this game early, then Williams should get his touches and probably have a decent gamejust wanted to make sure you didn't underestimate Williams by overestimating the MIN run defense

They guy I am against this week grabbed him but hasn't activated him yet. He also has Chris Brown. I am afraid he will be this week's Ganther. I don't know if I'd play him this week but I have Ganther and better options. I only gambled on Ganther last week b/c I had the bye and just wanted to see what my new toy would do.

I am heavily considering starting him over Pierre Thomas in a PPR league. Reggie Bush looked awfully good where I think Payton uses him more out of the backfield this weekend and Mike Bell is coming back.

start over Roddy White and the Revis effect? Can't tell if I'm over thinking or making the right call based on match up.
Easy choice. You've got a choice between a running back who should get the majority of the carries in a likely blowout win, against a receiver matched against the best cover corner in the league (arguably) in a game that has a good chance of being played in strong wind if not heavy snow.

I have also though of benching P.T., but Dallas will give N.O. a good game, Bell will not get his normal "closer running time" in this game. Don't think Dallas hasn't noticed what Bush has done in the past weeks. Plus their will be lots of points in NO VS Dallas, Houston may get so far out front that Chris Heny gets the mop up time at RB.I learned over the years in FF playoffs you dance with the girl you brought to the dance, in this case it's P.T.

Have been considering him over Addai. I guess I got another couple hours to decide.

Got a real bad feeling about Addai. One of those "start the guys who brought you there" situations where I probably shouldn't.

Fred Jackson and Mendenhall on the bench. playing an opponent that is much better than me so rolling the dice big time with these guys in the starting line-up:

Jennings CLE @ KC

Foster HOU @ StL

Wells ARI @ DET

what all you are forgetting is the Texans running game SUCKXXXORZ no matter who is carrying the ball.end of.
They play the Rams. They're pretty SUCKXXXORZ against no matter who is carrying the ball too. Movable force vs. stoppable object or something.

Some sort of interesting comments on Foster from Texans beat writer John McClain in an online chat. Don't make me go "wow I have to start him", but don't rule it out either.

11:32 [Comment From Ray SotoRay Soto: ] Good Morning general. Why was the pass protection so strong? Thoughts on Foster?

11:33 John McClain: Seattle had 27 sacks and three players with at least four, but the line just played its best game as far as pass protection. Schaub did a lot of three-step drops, too. Foster looked better as a receiver than runner, but so did Slaton.

11:43 [Comment From JuiceJuice: ] Should I pick up Arian Foster in my fantasy league? Is he gonna get the bulk of the carries and touches now?

11:43 John McClain: I wouldn't. they still want to use three.

11:56 [Comment From KosKos: ] Do you think Foster will get more carries next game, the young guy looked pretty good?

11:56 John McClain: Yes, he should. He looked really good as a receiver.

12:13 [Comment From tbonetbone: ] John, do you think its possible that Foster can be our bigger back answer ?

12:13 John McClain: For the last three games, why not? He couldn't do any worse.

Arian Foster-RB-Texans Dec. 17 - 7:28 pm et

Though coach Gary Kubiak was impressed by Arian Foster's Week 14 performance, he was less than thrilled with the rookie's mental errors in Thursday's practice.

"He's got a long way to go," Kubiak said. "He's a young player. A little inconsistent, but he's got a lot of talent ... He's getting an opportunity here and he needs to understand how important this opportunity is." Foster remains the best bet for double digit touches in the Texans backfield, and he's worth using as a flex option this week.

considering him over LT, not sure if that's a smart move first week of the playoffs...but the matchup against St.Louis looks almost too good to pass up, throw in Cinn. losing Henry mid-week and I'm not sure how they react to it this sunday on the field against San Diego.

interesting...

Foster owner here, and he'll be riding the pine this week despite the gorgeous match up. Starting him over Pierre or LT2 just reeks of over thinking it, as Kubiak has shown he'll reverse course on a dime and we have nothing more than a couple of quotes to base all this optimism on.

Coming from a guy who started Ganther last week, I'm taking the wait and see approach w/ Foster. A 9 carry, 24 yard performance will have you ready to eat a bullet while you watch a benched LT and Pierre score multiple TDs in the two highest scoring offenses in football.

Too much risk for those of us in the semi's or finals to run Foster out there, IMO. :lmao:

Joseph Addai had a stinker for me last night and my opponent had dallas clark so I'm down big already and getting desperate.

I can't decide between Ganther, Foster and Jennings. Need 2 of those 3. Also got McCoy but he's just not relevant at the moment.

Currently I'm set with Ganter and Foster but I worry that I'm overthinking this.

"He's getting an opportunity because of the misfortune of Steve being out and us searching for some back to step up and take it upon his shoulders," Kubiak said. "So we'll see how he does. He better protect No. 8 (quarterback Matt Schaub) if he's going to play."

makes me nervous that he may make another mental error early in the game and get yanked

Exactly my thinking here too. I'm gonna roll with Pierre over Foster and take my chances.

Although the better looking girl (Arian v. St.Louis) at the dance is staring at you, it would be unwise to leave the girl who brought you that you know you can still score with (Pierre).

I'm going PT,Ganther, & Wells over the "prettier" matchups that Foster and C.Jennings have.

great analogy there lol. i think its too hard to tell what you'll get with arian this weekend. kubiak likes to "start" one back, then play the other... ala c.brown a couple weeks back.
