Stellers vs Eagles preseason thread (1 Viewer)

I am generally not distracted by announcers much, but what is going on with Buck's throat?

Edit: Nevermind after Bradshaw told him it sounded sexy.

Freaking Steelers. I just want to see Mike Vick run around and they're going to use up the entire first quarter with this drive.

Behind a few minutes, but 5-wide for PITT and PHI couldn't get enough pressure on a thin O-line. Also not impressed with CMatthews yet.

Steelers looking very good on both sides of the ball tonight.

It's only preseason so maybe Vick is working not running at all but it looks like he should have taken off a couple of times

As a Steelers fan who thought our defense looked like garbage against the Skins I am estastic at play of our secondary tonight

As someone with Vick on my fantasy football keepers list for a 2 year contract, I am freaking out

admittedly, i know next to nothing about the intricacies of the eagles defense, but there must be two or three cheap, free agent linebackers that would be an upgrade to who they are fielding now, right? seems like a fixable achilles heel.

They seem enamored with Matthews at the MIKE. He's done NOTHING and looks like he's playing on his heels, reacting rather than making plays - and he's getting pushed around. They do have J Chaney (SAM) who was the MIKE last year when Bradley was out, but that's rough. They need more help.

makes sense for them to wait until some LB's get cut around the league and see what might be available. But i don't think LB is the biggest issue on the defense. I'm not sure what it is, but the safeties have been abused a bit, and i'm not sure the defensive play-calling was as effective as it was against the Ravens. Now of course this is pre-season where teams won't show much, but it is a bit concerning to see the Steelers 2nd team drive up and down the field against quite a few of the Eagles 1st string defense. as an Eagles fan, i for one am glad to see this game right now. I think they needed to get beat up pretty good to remember they have a lot of work to do before they are considered among the elite in the NFC. i don't know if they were over-confident at any point, but if they were this game should help to bring that back down. and you have to give credit to Vick on the tackle on that last interception, I really am not much of a Vick fan (more the person than player), but you have to like seeing your QB throw his body like that for a tackle. not the smartest thing to do of course, but still enjoy watching it

i think the praise they give Matthews is more about supporting the player in the public and helping to encourage him. I would not want to see them come out saying how they need to get someone else to fill the MIKE in the public. I have been hoping for a MLB for most of the pre-season, but at this point it will be tough to bring someone in and have them run the defense on the field with not a lot of time left before the season. and i wonder with the limited training camp and practices that the new deal brings in, would they be able to bring in someone who is a free agent at this point, like Kirk Morrison, and have him in game shape in time for the season?

I had to check NFL.com to see if the Eagles had more completions to their team or to the Steelers.... ugh. :bag:

Philly rookie RB Dion Lewis just had a CRAZY catch and run in the 4th qtr with just over 5 minutes left in the game. He made some AMAZING juke moves to make defenders miss him. This guy is still only 20 years old. Give him time to develop and stash him on your dynasty rosters if you can.

I'll be watching the game tomorrow but - and Cec and Wildman can back me up or correct me - but Casey Matthews was not impressive in Mobile. He was blasted by smaller backs in backs on backers drills. I came away not thrilled and nothing I'm hearing has changed that. I'll see tomorrow but so far, he seems like a guy who is just a guy.
