Stephen Hill (WR) - CAR (1 Viewer)

Cimini is such a tool. He went on a "write negative articles to rile up the fan base" binge yesterday.

Not saying Hill's not a bust, but Cimini is pretty much a professional troll.
Agreed.

But Hill is AWFUL. The Jets screwed that pick something terrible. Two picks later the Bears select....Alshon Jeffery.

Actually, if you dig a little, watch some features, and read some articles on the Jets site, it appears they are pleased with his hard work and progress this offseason. His route running has improved, and he is standing out in live scrimmages. It just hasn't translated to preseason games yet. We will find out very soon, and I would advise to hold. At least through the first few regular season games...

Doubtful. They will give him this year to come around.
He's certainly not getting cut for Greg freakin' Salas. Salas does this every year where he 'outplays' people in camp but can't do it in games.

C'mon now...be nice. Jeffery did have all those off the field issues as well as his weight issues and I believe his desire was questioned. Sometimes these GMs out think themselves.

Free agent Stephen Hill's player rep ripped the Jets following his Saturday release.

"He didn't have a chance that first year with that whole Tim Tebow-Mark Sanchez fiasco," Hill's rep thundered. "His second year, Geno Smith was learning how to play quarterback. So they never threw the ball deep because they wanted to simplify things for Geno." Hill's rep made no mention of his drops or knee issues. The agent went on to say he expects the Browns to place a claim on waivers. It makes sense on paper, but Hill didn't give teams much, if any, positive film to go on.

Felt like this one had some talent but WR has been a vast wasteland in NY under Rex.
It is actually because of Mark Sanchez sucking and Geno Smith having a mostly bad rookie season. The one year Sanchez was not totally inept (2010), the Jets WRs had good numbers.

Good point but no WR has broken 1,000 yards under Rex and we are going into season 5 or 6 here. In a passing dominated league you would think in that time at least 1 guy would hit the number.

Well he's got a point, sometimes players aren't in the right situation.

Yeah well his agent neglected to mention how Hill drops pass after pass and is soft as butter. Someone will pick him based on his size/speed.

Geno and Sanchez didn't make Hill drop all those passes.
Drops or not, that is one bad hand he got dealt.
It's not like the Jets aren't rostering any WRs. The guys who made the team were playing with bad QBs too. His agent's point seems like more of an argument as to why he hasn't been a good fantasy football asset, not why he didn't make the team.

I guess if you really wanted to find a sensible meaning behind his quote, you could look at the fact that most of the wrs on that team were lucky enough to develop elsewhere (sans kerley).

Kerley has never developed into what he would somewhere else, IMO Wes Welker.

Rumors have the browns and panthers interested. Not surprising given their crop. Would love to see if he can develop in Carolina.

One would think that, but, again, Sanchez was horrible and Smith had a rookie season that most rookie QBs have had aside from Matt Ryan, Marino, Luck, Griffin III and a few others.

Holmes was suspended for the first four games in 2010. He would have eclipsed 1000 yards that year.

(KFFL)Free-agent WR Stephen Hill (Jets) is scheduled to work out for the Carolina Panthers Monday, Sept. 1, according to a source.
Hmm. I would keep him if he signs there. Could be a good place to develop as a solid #2.
Rotoworld:

The Panthers have "no immediate plans" to sign free agent Stephen Hill following Monday's workout.
The Panthers are simply updating their "ready list." Carolina has one of the league's thinnest receiver corps, so it's not a good sign for Hill's 2014 prospects that he's walking away without a deal.

Even DHB didn't get cut...sheesh.
One of those old big 1st round contracts is probably to blame for that.
DHB has been in the league for 6 seasons, well past his rookie contract.
Right, because he's improved into a passable depth player on a cheaper contract. I meant he wasn't cut during his huge rookie contract, unlike Hill who was easier to get rid of.

He must really really suck if the Panthers didnt even offer him a contract. They need help in a big way.

I forgot that DHB was cut on the last year of his deal in 2013 when he was due over $7M.

However, the Raiders kept him in 2012 with a salary of more than $5M.

Even after getting cut the Colts gave him $2.5M.

Hill must be absolutely horrible for teams not to even want him on their practice squad.

I don't think he would be eligible for anyone'S PS. He's been game day active for most of two seasons.

Signed to Panthers' PS. Give him a few weeks to learn some of the offense, and I say he starts playing...
Doesn't have much competition...
Practice squad for the Panthers is better than being on the Jets for him.
