How is his catching? That is all that matters.Faust said:Rotoworld:
ESPN New York calls Stephen Hill the Jets' most improved player this summer.
Per reporter Rich Cimini, Hill has impressed with his "improved mechanics and route running." Hill boasts a rare size/speed combo (6-foot-4, 215 pounds with 4.36 wheels), but was extremely raw coming out of option-based Georgia Tech. Hill's flashes of brilliance as a rookie were typically paired up with a mind-numbing mistake. Still only 22, Hill has a monster ceiling, but his development figures to remain slow with the Jets' quarterback situation still a mess.

He was supposed to catch that? Sanchez has no touch short (or intermediate or long). Hill has had a great camp. This guy just cannot play. Hands of stone. Cut your losses and let someone else get some playing time.
Way off here RN... Sanchez takes the full blame on that. This guy just cannot play. Hands of stone. Cut your losses and let someone else get some playing time.
It wasnt routine, it would have been a difficult catch, it did hit him in the hands.I'll upload the clip at halftime to let others judge for themselves.
Edit: Do you guys really want me to do this? I just watched it for the 10th time.

lol , you can't be serious. This kid is a good wr with a serious upside. Just needs a quality qb and another season to season his game. It's not a surprise you are a raiders fan. You have no idea what talent looks like. LolRaider Nation said:This guy just cannot play. Hands of stone. Cut your losses and let someone else get some playing time.

and Kerley is out.I didn't get to see his game but I like his potential with Holmes seemingly not 100%.
I'm going to watch the game when I get home later tonight. I'll give a bit of input on each target if I remember to.gpthatsme said:Anybody see the game that is willing to comment?
He needs to stop buttering his hands. He can't catch. This fact will be effectively disguised for a few years by quarterbacks who can't pass.
The most frustrating thing is, he can't catch yet he still went for 84 yards. If he had even adequate mitts, his stat lines could be ridiculous. As of right now Mornhinweg seems to subscribe to the theory of "What the hell.... send him deep a few times a game. By some miracle, he may catch one or two of them."He was just dropped in a dynasty league of mine last week. I was very excited to pick him up, but I'm concerned with his lack of "fluidness" if that's a word. He just doesn't look like a natural football player. Couple drops on a sloppy field. I felt the fumble was a mistake, but more a fluke than anything. His adjustment to a poorly thrown ball by Geno just looked so unnatural. I think Hill has a spot in this league, but he will never be a WR#1 for any team.

These were the targets that Hill didn't catch, which ones are the drop you are referring to?1-10-NYJ 20 (12:54) (Shotgun) 7-G.Smith pass incomplete short middle to 84-S.Hill.

This. It's an awful analogy, but if you were creating Stephen Hill in Madden, his agility rating would be incredibly low. He has good straight line speed, but he doesn't have the ability to change direction well or run sharp routes. That, combined with his sub-par hands, makes me think that he can't be a long-term starter in the NFL. I hope I'm wrong though. He was just dropped in a dynasty league of mine last week. I watched iall of his targets and this was the only drop. He's currently on pace for 80 catches and exactly 1,000 yards. In non-PPR, based on last year's numbers, he'd only need 3 TDs with that to finish as WR30 overall, while 6 TDs would have made him WR23 (a very low WR2). In PPR leagues, 80/1000 would have ranked him as WR32 even if he never caught a single score, while just 3 TDs would be necessary to get him to WR22.Assuming he sprinkles in a few TDs this year, there's a pretty decent chance he's going to finish as a WR3.
Sorry should have said I was converting everything to PPG. Four to eight TDs would see him between 19/20 and 28/32 in the league I looked at. I doubt anyone's going to be comfortable rolling him out as a WR2 though. He's currently on pace for 80 catches and exactly 1,000 yards. I'd say Stephen Hill is off to a pretty good start to the season, for fantasy purposes.
Raw points is going to overrate a player when pro-rating to 16 games, but raw PPG is going to underrate him, too. To use a deliberately extreme example, if literally every receiver in the league played 8 or fewer games, then guys who rank 60th in points per game are still solid WR3s, because literally half of the players ahead of them will be out at any given time.Sorry should have said I was converting everything to PPG. He had more targets week 1 with Kerley in the game. The odds of Winslow staying healthy all year are next to zero. Holmes has said he may have to deal with foot pain all year.He likely won't keep up the catch pace because his target pace won't be sustained. With Kerley out one game, Holmes not healthy and a TE with one knee playing on a short week they have had to go to him. Those situations will change and his targets will decline.
This drafted him in Round 18 last Thursday and Saturday in FFPC leagues. Very happy with the early results. He's a guy you drafted very late or picked up on the WW. He's going to sport average to above average WR3 numbers which make him a good WR3 or solid depth. What's not to like?
The fumble was bad but it came on a nice catch. He only had one drop.Rough game last night. Fumble, drops, unpolished routes. Geno still looked for him but some of that is because Gates and Spadola were even worse than H
