Stephen Jackson vs. Detroit (1 Viewer)

SJax owner here, and I am quietly concerned about my #1 overall pick. The carries are there, and the total yardage has been pretty good but not great. He has not found the end zone, and has not a significant amount of GL carries. Throw in the injury to Pace, and the apparent regression of Bulger and I am beginning to consider letting the big guy take a week or two off until he shows me something.

This week they get the Lions, whose Defense has been surprisingly stingy against the run. What kind of numbers can we expect from Jackson this week? Hopefully he hits paydirt this weekend. I am projecting

20-23 carries - under 100 yards (90-95) and 1 td. Others that are starting him, what are your expectations on Sunday?

he'll run well between the 20's get them down to the 1st and goal at the 3 and then watch bulger throw 3 passes

:wall:

The TDs aren't there but the yards DEFINITELY are.

Did you know he's #2 in the league in yards from scrimmage?

And 4th in yds from scrimmage per game?

From that standpoint i'm not sure what more anyone can ask for.

The TDs obviously aren't there but they will come.

Pace is certainly of concern as well.

I'd be hard pressed to think of a RB stable any team might have where Jackson should be on the bench.

Maybe if you've got 2 of LT2, Westbrook and LJ, but that's about it.

Start him.

I'm starting him with confidence this week. He is tied for 5th in scoring in my league, and is only 5 points behind the 2nd place RB in points scored.

All without scoring a single TD.

DO NOT BENCH SJax.

Exactly he is getting his yards and is performing right where he should be near the top of the league. I have projected 10-12 td's with him. As long as he keeps the yardage up he will get his TD's. As much as they have been running the ball I will not be suprised if he gets 2 TD's against the Lions

lions run def has looked good all year-the bright spot for sjax is that the rams probably wont be playing from behind so he should get at least 20 carries(also the lions pass def cant get the other team off the field on 3rd down)

i heard orlando pace isnt going to play so who knows how that will effect him, my guess is the guard will be helping left tackle a little and s rogers wont be double teamed as much(he can handle anyone one on one)

if i had to guess

22-70yds

Pretty good analysis. The Lions have a pretty good run D. I would expect similar rushing stats as you suggested. However, I think the Rams will take advantage of screen passes (SJ is a good rrec, green bay did last week). He is a good start in my opinion.

Jackson's stats are solid except for the td's. The Rams offense is learning a new system,it takes time, they showed nice improvement last week and I expect that to continue throughout the season. I wouldn't be afraid to start Jackson every week, the offense will start clicking and you want to be onboard from the get-go. As for this week, the NFL is a copycat league,The Packers offense went up and down the field on the Lions with short passes that drew the db's in and then they took some downfield shots. Green didn't run great but ran effectively enough. I look for the Rams to copy that formula and if they get a lead you'll see more of Jackson,I think he has a solid game this week. 100-120 ydsrus, another 40 receiving and he gets in the endzone at least once.

Detroit and Martz's offense are going to bring the Greatest Show On Turf back to St. Louis this week. Rams fall behind early and stay there. Jackson 11 carries, 19 yards, and a meaningless touch late.
