Stephen King's "Under the Dome" coming to CBS (1 Viewer)

I don't know why I keep watching. It's not really holding my interest. The g/f and I just watch them when we are bored. But it's not a good show.
I work from home and tend to do a lot of work at night when the kids are asleep, so I like having the TV on in the background since I shouldn't be working that late. If you like Sci-Fi/fantasy type of shows (anything from zombies to star wars) then you are like me that I have to watch it since there is nothing else new on right now. If this was Fall with all the shows being new, I would have given up on it already.
I don't work from home but otherwise I am like STBugs. But we've known that for years already.
Can both of you lose the tone?

So true, we would have a few Lost cornholes if I was still living in the DC area.

I am surprised no one mentioned how Big Jim, the guy who knows everyone, didn't know the mom of a chick he worked with secretly. Especially, since he went to school with her mom, but I digress. Now I am little upset with the tone I am taking with myself.
To me, the more holes the better. Convinces me that despite having a published book to work with they are just making up things as they go along.
:thanks: I now have motivation to keep watching. If there is going to be a hole, it better be one that Mack truck can drive through.
Didn't they try that in the first episode and it didn't fit?
:lmao: :lmao:

Yes, yes they did.

I hate myself for continuing to watch this.
Same. The introduction of the underground Fight Club hit a new low this week.
Finally watched last week's episode. The fight club is just stupid.

Hate-Watch is about right.
:goodposting:

When they wanted to round up some guys to go take the well from the farmer by force, they gathered up a half dozen old guys... but now they apparently have a town full of professional MMA fighters??

How about that cow getting cut in half!
lol Every ####### recap they have to show that. It's like some TV exec said, "This damn special effect cost a lot, so we're going to get our money's worth"!
They blew most of the budget in episode one on the 2 sides of beef and the smash-faced truck. Now to save money they are killing off characters faster than they can invent new ones.

And of course the 20 some odd people that were working there and the 100 or so hanging out are all gone last night. Now they are after Barbie? Geez, this show is almost getting too bad, if that is even possible. Here's a fun tidbit seeing as we have 2 shows left.

Neal Baer, the show's executive producer recently sat down with T.V. Guide to provide some hits, teases, and spoilers about the upcoming season finale.

According to Baer, the finale will mostly center around "Junior, Junior, Junior." Junior Rennie, played by Alexander Koch, is the deputy under the dome. However, his mental state is less sound than your average deputy.

Baer went on to provide a bit more about what's in store for Junior, saying in the finale the young deputy "has the biggest decision of his life to make."
Wow, that sure does make me want to not even stick around for the last two shows. Now that red-head is in a coma (she will have to be to continue the charade that Barbie shot her), there is not a single character I like.

1 more epi to go! :pickle: ...for me that is. I didn't watch the prior 2 epis but will watch the "cliffhanger" to see if perhaps the end of the season epi is at least is good. :coffee:

The worst thing that I find with this show is my having it set to dvr weekly and watching it the day after with my wife. With all the horrible people in this town, the dome is the best thing that could have happened for mankind.

If the most realistic thing that occurs in this show is an indestuctible, invisible dome appearing from nowhere... we have a problem. And yet, I still watch.

I missed the 2nd half of the episode because my DVR cut off. I don't know if I care about what I missed though. Saw up until Big Jim killed the Samoan chick.

Well, one more epi to go! Cliffhanger will be if Barbie will be killed or not? Or something about the dome, like it shifting or starting to lift but.. ? I'm looking forward to see what they come up with the cliffhanger for you to tune in next time.

Even the kids are confused about where the plot is going. They started asking the black egg questions like it was a Magic 8-Ball.

This is so far from the book, it makes "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Killer" look like a documentary film.
Yep.

I said a few episodes ago I was out, but I must not have cared enough to even delete recording it. So, I got half of last week's - if that had been a Breaking Bad ep (or even an Americans'), I would've burned the studio offices down; missing this didn't bother me - and all of the finale.

I don't watch daytime soaps, but one of my exes did and I would watch some with her. This show HAS to be written by ex-soap writers. The info-dumps (over and over and over and...), the so-obvious-it's funny-dialogue, and what I can only describe as the Soap-Stare-Before-Fadeout. People know things they shouldn't and make leaps of logic that would stun a politician.

I don't criticize anyone for what they enjoy arts-wise. I watch/listen to/read as much trash as anyone. But I had really high hopes for this based on the book (& I'm sure that's a lot of my problem) and I can't even enjoy hate-watching it like I could with something like Hotel back in the 80s.

For one season, they could've done the book in 13 episodes. They went rogue (with King's permission) and they got monster ratings. So, they're gonna drag this out as long as they can. Don't blame them a bit for that.

I have to say the finale was a step up from the crap of the last few, but that isn't saying a lot. If this comes back over the summer, I'll probably watch, but only because the show has gotten so bad. What was with the cop just standing there and letting Big Jim hang Barbie? She doesn't seem to care that those kids are in jail and of course none of them say anything to her about Big Jim when she is in the house with them? The supernatural stuff with the egg and butterfly, etc. doesn't bother me at all, I expect that. The awfulness of the characters in the show make it hard to watch.

I said the same thing.. My wife used to watch daytime soaps in the Summer and when I'd catch a minute or two of it, I'd roll my eyes and say "How can you watch this crap?".. .THAT'S what this show reminds me of..

A HUGE cliffhanger on a Friday, only to come back Monday and continue it with something stupid.. Stares off into the distance (aka Joey sniffing a fart on Friends) and second rate actors and actresses..

CHEESY

Watched every episode but have no recollection of how it ended. I think the last thing I remember is either the fight club or that house on its own island.

I hate myself for watching this.
Me too. I cannot imagine how the creators of this show could have fumbled such an easy concept any worse. I thought The Following was the worst show I watched in recent memory, but this trumped it. Should've been a one-season show. I read they are going to introduce MORE new characters this season :loco:

Just popped in to see if this show ever got any better. The wife and I made it through the first 7 or 8 episodes. Sounds like we made the right call.

Too bad we watched the whole first season of The Following and she made me watch a couple episodes of Season 2. :yuck:

For the first time in my DVR/binge-watching life, I quit a show before the first season finale. I love Kevin Bacon and am a champ at suspending disbelief (I still watch Walking Dead, if you need a point of reference), but I just couldn't get past how ####### stupid it all was.

Under The Dome may well be worse. I really liked the book (though the end was....odd - shocking for a King book, I know), but they screwed this show up so badly I don't know if I can stomach season 2. I think I'm gonna just read the recaps.

lol

For a place nobody can get in or out of they sure seem to come up with a lot a newbies. Maybe in the middle of the night the dome lifts up and down for a couple seconds and people roll under the dome like illegals.

Pretty much where I'm at.

I originally signed up for it because it was a neatly contained single season summer series which presumably was already all scripted with a nice clean plot and ending.

Now it's morphed into a Frankenstein; I'm guessing I'll be out after the 1st episode next week.

For serious. There are illogical things that happen in other shows, but this is so basic that I just can't get past it. That, and the fact that the writing/casting is horrific (IMO) besides Dean Norris and I'll not tune in again.

Me too. I think a lot of people did, but as soon as CBS saw the ratings, they decided to bleed every penny they could put of it. I suspect ratings will be WAY down this year. Then again, the American public's seemingly boundless lust for pabulum has fooled me in the past and may again.

Anybody catch the new episode last night?? I dvr'd it, and started watching it, but fell asleep..

At this point, I've lost all interest...

They killed the kinda cute cop and the hot blonde. They're one dead redhead away from killing any chance of me continuing to watch this crud.
