Digging beneath their numbers:

*NY Steve has a catch rate almost twice that of Carolina Steve Smith (76% to 39%).

*Eli Manning has looked almost as good as Peyton Manning.

*Delhomme is imploding.

*NY Steve may be less talented but he has an opportunity to take the #1 WR mantle.

SS (Car) is more talented.

SS (Car) has less competition for touches/targets.

Also, although Delhomme sucks, he has sucked for years. One of the great traits Delhomme has (for Smith) is that he locks onto him to a fault.

SS (Car) easily.

This concept of this thread is :homer: ificly ridiculous.

Perhaps someone can start a thread as to which Adiran Peterson will finish the year with better numbers.

*Delhomme is back on track after throwing for 300 yards last week.

*NY Steve is MUCH LESS talented and he has similiar opportunity to be the #1 WR .
I fixed some things for you.To answer your question: Steve Smith Carolina by a mile.

I do not own either player.

Putting aside talent which is not even close... NYG D is reasonably stout. No reason to expect shootouts for the remainder of the season which is what it would take for Smith/NYG to overtake Smith/CAR.

I drafted SS (Car) w/my 2nd pick.

I drafted SS (NYG) w/my 18th pick.

Both started last week and both are starting next week.

None of the 20 people who voted for the New York Steve Smith feel like chiming in? I'm curious to hear your reasons.

I didn't even vote, seems like a trap question. Smirf is the obvious choice in regard to pure talent and heart. The situation dictates differently though in regard to whom is going where, Vs whom has already been there.

On a more serious note, it's not out of the question that SS (NYG) will have more points at year-end in a PPR league. I mean 2 weeks is not enough data, but it could be the start of a trend.

To be determind. :2cents:

*eta I did vote for CAR Smith awhile back and thought this thread was crazy....i dunno. May have some merit now though.

I think people are panicking a bit too much on Carolina's Steve Smith but I'll have to (happily :homer: ) eat a bit of crow here are say that it is a whole lot closer than I ever thought it would be.Props to Stuckinthemuck!

Smirf? This one?
I think he was referring to Smiff.
I am here to say that I am one of the 20 that voted for NY S. Smith. Do I think he's nearly as talented as Car S. Smith? No way! In real football, we know the uberstud is Carolina's Smith. But if the question is for FF apeal, I would rather have S. Smith of NY. He has the better (much much better) QB in Manning. He has a two-headed monster running game to spread the field. He gets the targets that rack up over a game and is sure handed. He caught each and every one of his targets vs the Bucs.

S. Smith has a suspect line, a crappy QB, an old slow possesion receiver that can't attract safety help. It all adds up as: Advantage, S. Smith NY.

Note: I'd be thrilled to have both on my roster. I don't own either. :bag:

That better (much much better) QB has only broken 3350 passing yards once, and has never topped 24 TDs. He also looks to be spreading the ball around a lot more than the worse (much much worse) QB in Carolina. Also, when last I checked, Smiff likewise had a two-headed monster running game to spread the field, and he also gets the targets that rack up over a game (he's averaging over 3 targets more per game than the New York version), and he's also sure handed (his 5 year track record trumps Smith North's 3 game track record).Seems to me that most of the reasons you listed as liking Smith North apply even more so to Smith South.

If you had to pick one of these guys to have for the rest of the season, I would guess SS NYG would be the overwhelming pick at this moment.

NY Steve 53--662--4

CAR Steve 30--414--1

When the poll started several weeks ago Carolina Steve was still considered the top WR. At this point after NY's swoon they're both probably second tier WR's. Although NY Steve hasn't had his bye week yet it's clear he has the statistical advantage, especially in PPR leagues.

They face each other in week 16. Prepare for a deluge of Steve Smith v. Steve Smith headlines.

What I think we've learned here:

NY Smith is better than many thought

Eli is better/progressed more than many thought

The Giants running game is worse than many thought

Delhomme was more horrific at QB than many thought

Talent can't always overcome situation

Football stats and success still is highly unpredictable

I can't believe the Giants guy has any votes thus far.
Sharks indeed.
There's a difference between good outcome and good process. That's why I was asking some of the Smith North backers to chime in- I was curious what their process was, whether it was something substantial and sustainable instead of just "because he's scored more points to date".
