Steven Jackson benched? (1 Viewer)

On four carries? That's a small sample size. Sjax at far less than 100% broke off just as large of a gain (13 yards) as Richardson (12) did in that game. They both got bottled up on the rest of their carries. I understand that people want to see more of Richardson, but Sjax isn't nearly as "washed up" as he's being portrayed, it's just wishful thinking at this point. Anyone who thinks he's lost it needs to go back and watch the 1rst quarter of the game vs. WAS. He still looks leagues better than many RBs who saw a drop off around a similar time in their careers. If he can stay healthy (the ultimate kicker at this point, not performance), there's just no way Richardson sees more than a 5-10 touches a game. Hopefully he practices tomorrow.
Pretty lame arguments considering that Jackson had almost triple the carries. I am probably biased because I've got Richardson in every one of my dynasty leagues, but just looking at the stats you could make a pretty good case for him being the more effective player. I think he could potentially do more damage with 15 touches than Jackson could with the same opportunities. And with Jackson hobbled and getting older every day, I don't think it's out of the question that Richardson's role could expand. Is it probable? Maybe not, but it's certainly possible.

Sure, and bias is getting in my way for redraft purposes even though I have him cuffed. You just make SJax sound 2009 Larry Johnson which simply isn't the case.

sounds like sjax is is a gtd again. maybe they should just give him a week off and let Richardson play this week? they have a short week too..

I'm a huge SJax fan and he was dropped in my league last week. I've been staring at him on the WW but I'm not sure I can pull the trigger and try and pick him up. I just don't see much upside there given the Rams' offensive situation. Is anyone holding out hope for SJax the rest of the way?

Um, grab him immediately. We're bemoaning him in this thread because a lot of us were hoping for steadier top-15 type production, but even with bad matchups he's still a top 25-30 RB every week. He should obviously be owned, especially during bye weeks when a guy who's going to get 15-20 touches is extremely valuable.

Funny. 12-team league with VERY tight roster limits. I was stunned to see him dropped. As much as I love him I'd have to drop players whose ceilings are equal or higher in my opinion to pick him up (I'd be happy to discuss the particulars via PM; not doing it in this thread). Not sure I want to do that although it's real tempting. My concern with SJax is a tough schedule, his health (although less so after watching him against Seattle) and the overall lack of punch of the Rams' offense. Lot of factors conspiring against him at the present time.

I probably will. What's holding me back is I'd have to drop someone I believe has higher or equal upside and I'll likely have to spend to get him. But my SJax love will likely win out here. :)

packersfan - seriously? You're a respected veteran around here - that move is a no-brainer.

Steven Jackson (groin) returned to Rams practice Tuesday, getting in a limited session.

Brandon Gibson (knee) and Danny Amendola (ankle) both got in full sessions. Gibson was held out Monday, while Amendola was limited. Jackson has already confirmed he escaped Sunday's win without further injury, and his status for Thursday night's game won't be a concern even if he's listed as questionable on Wednesday's injury report.
Looks to be a low-end RB2 at worst this week (PPR) IMO. 20/60-80/0 with 3-4 receptions for 10-20 yards seems quite possible based on what people have done against ARI thus far. Also, to the guy wondering if he should pick up SJax. I understand short benches and all, but you'd be hard pressed to find a RB who's one of the main cogs of their respective offense, who's guaranteed work every week and has put up around 1,400 all purpose yards yearly for the past decade.

Did I mention he doesn't look like he's lost a step?

So many sharks drafted this turf in the2 nd round expecting guaranteed RB2 borderline RB1 production.....he is done.
Please explain how "he's done?" I don't think anyone expected RB1 numbers. Now that he seems past his groin injury I expect solid RB2 numbers going forward.

I don't understand how people can comment on someone they haven't seen play. No one in their right mind would make that comment if they had watched last weeks game. The amount of box score experts seems have grown exponentially in recent years.

On the surface it appears to be. But the particulars involving my situation, my league setup and concerns I have about SJax going forward are making it more difficult. It's also possible I'm over-thinking all of this. I have been known to do that on occasion. :)

Who would you have to drop btw? I'm really curious. I don't want to turn this into WDIS but "should I pick up SJax from my WW" is question rarely asked. Also, I'm betting a lot of people would be thinking a bit differently if that TD he scored wasn't called back on a holding call last week. He looked good against a top 5 rush defense, there's no doubting it.

I'll be happy to discuss the particulars via PM. What I will say, though, is I am concerned about SJax due to the following factors:1. Rams' offense looks awful again. There's a reason why Greg Zeurlein is a hot WW topic this week.2. Rams' schedule vs. the run is brutal. Now SOS is a tricky and often misleading thing but the Rams are in the same division with three of the best defenses in the league (or what appear to be 3 of the best). Plus there are other tough (on paper) matchups ahead as well. The schedule does not appear to be inviting.3. SJax is already nicked. Granted, he's played through it the last two games and he's tough as hell but at age 29 I was worried about durability going into the year and he's already having to deal with something.4. He hasn't been involved in the passing game since Week 1. This is critical in assessing his value moving forward in my opinion. He's unlikely to score a lot of TDs so he really needs to get 3-4 receptions per week if possible to maintain RB2 value in PPR leagues. Without those receptions he becomes a so-so RB3. That's what he's been since Week 1.On the plus side, he's SJax and he remains a foundation piece for what little offense the Rams do have. So volume shouldn't be a problem and volume is huge for RBs, especially this season when so few are guaranteed 15-20 touches per game. But how much is he going to do with that volume? His name carries value but as we all know all that matters is production. Having "Steven Jackson" on your roster won't mean squat if he's not producing at a respectable level.

:goodposting:I cut him last week for many of these reasons. This is in an 8 team league in which there is a roster limit of 4 RBs per team, and he has not been picked up since. Given other injuries, I did not feel I had the luxury of waiting to see if he will rebound later.

You are a clown. SJax will exceed 1,000 combined yards and 10+ touchdowns this year barring further injury. Anyone doubting this is a moron!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!edited for grammer.

While I agree with 1,000 combined yards, Jackson hasn't topped 10+ TD's since 2006. Sure, he's missed games and/or played through nagging injuries, but when doesn't he? Being as he has 0 TD's through 4 games (which is 1/4 of the season), I think 10+ is highly unlikely, if not impossible.

I can't cut him but have been trying to deal S-Jax since week 2 when this whole drama started as he was robbed of a TD and the hammy became an issue.I've offered him to 7 of the 11 other teams in my league with no takers.Watching him play I think he still has another good season of production in him but he's limited by the factors above. Particularly the schedule, which has become even tougher as the season has progressed. At this point, I'm not sure what to do with him. I benched him for the likes of Blount last week and this week am deciding between S-Jax, Britt, and Gates in my flex. Not what I imagined when I dropped decent money on him in my auction but he was the last real RB2 left or so I thought.

:blackdot:

I hate his schedule but I dont have any other options so I am in regardless. I do have decent hopes for Th night.

Passed on Lynch, Sproles, Charles, and ADP on draft day.

I took him in the fourth of a 12 teamer (thought I was getting a steal that late). he is killing me too. I did pass on sproles for him. I also think this game coming up will be the best game he has had so far. which isn't saying much...
