Steven Jackson....convince me on him. (1 Viewer)

mphtrilogy: Im gonna go ahead and say that's just a bug in RMT.... the no 6 and no 13 as your 1/2 cannot possibly be 'below average' it doesnt happen... itll be among, if not THE best tandem in your pool, no?

I have gore, sjax, best and addai.... draft dominator gave me a complimentary reach around!

Guys did load up rb early and my league is a heavy QB pt driven format, but SJax as my #1 is perceived in my league as a very weak #1 for sure. JBest, well I love him and we know the love for this guy on the boardis, but I got him at RB17 and was over the moon. I know the guys in my league are pretty suspect on my 1-2, but I was hoping for a little more love from FBG.

I think most people would be very satisfied with those 2 as their starters...perhaps your backups are very weak, thats hy the lack of love?the no 6 and no13 ranked starters are not below average

Everyone who passed on him from the late first on will regret it. Even if Jackson misses some time, he's a do-everything stud RB in his prime. Fantasy football revolves around talents like SJax, fantasy football first round picks were invented to be used on guys like Sjax.
You have got to be kidding. He has 18 touchdowns in his last three seasons. That is six per season. That is simply not good enough to be a first round pick, and saying, "fantasy football first round picks were invented to be used on guys like Sjax," is just crazy. The guy is a super talent, but he is just on a bad team. It's not his fault he doesn't get more TD opportunities, but it is what it is. Personally, I wouldn't touch him until the late 2nd round...at earliest.
Jackson is a top three real life rb, but in fantasy football his lack of scoring makes him nothing more than a solid #2 rb. Every year the "experts" go on and on about what a stud he is, but until the Rams put some talent around him Jackson will not be able to live up to that hype.
Here we go again. Sorry if I sound like a broken record, but...1) SJax's finishes since 2006 (non-PPR): 3, 11, 13, 10. The only RBs to finish top 13 since this time frame are Sjax and MJD.2) SJax missed 4 games in '07 and '08 (when he finished 11th and 13th)3) The Rams scored 175 points last year -- the lowest since the '06 Raiders and 2nd lowest since the '00 Browns. Every other 32nd-ranked offensive team other than these 3 since 2000 has scored at least 211 points (the '01 Texans, I believe). So expecting that few points is probably unwise.4) Sam Bradford is a marked improvement over Marc Bulger and Keith Null, not to mention that Roger Saffold has been added to the line.5) YOU DON'T TAKE ZEROES WHEN STEVEN JACKSON MISSES A GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mike Bell, the 40th ranked RB at the end of '09, averaged 5.5 points per game. I'll even be conservative and round down. If you added 5 points per game that SJax missed, you go from 3-11-13-10 since '06 to 3-9-11-9 since '06. And I would assume (or at least hope) that you had a better #3 RB than the #40th RB.In conclusion, I think that top 13 finishes or higher for four straight years warrants at least a mid 1st-rounder, no?

He's going to be staring at me with my pick. The better backs will all be gone at this point (AP, MJD, Rice, CJ, Gore, etc.). For whatever reason, Jackson doesn't wow me. It seems like he is always getting nicked up and the Rams are HORRIBLE. Add to all of that the fact that they might be starting a rookie at QB and how teams will stack the box to stop Jackson.....it doesn't look good.I guess the positives are that he has still produced under bad circumstances and the Rams will have an easier schedule this year.Still, I don't know about this guy.

He was 8 last year in my ppr. In what league is that not a solid rb1? 7 team leagues

It's in style to hate on SJax... bad team, injuries...fact remains even with missed games he's a beast.... if he can stay healthy this year, he will dominate

This is the main reason why the 7th pick is going to be the worst slot, assuming the Big 4 RBs, Gore, and AJ or off the board. Jackson is a beast when he plays, but he gets injured and his TD potential is way low. I have a hard time taking a RB in the first round that will likely score less than 10 TDs. You would be taking him RB6 when is unlikely that he can crack the top 5. Problem is....what are your alternatives? Turner? I would take Turner over Jackson in a nonPPR league, but not in a PPR league. Fitzgerald? He has his own issues. DAngelo? Splits time with Stewart, but has the potential to put up a huge season. A QB? Not sure I want to do that with a 1.7 pick in a 12 teamer.

I would probably be forced to take Jackson at 1.7 if this was a PPR league, but I wouldn't be happy.
Non PPR 10 team league 8th pick. Here's how our first 2 rounds went.

01.01 RB Chris Johnson

01.02 RB Adrian Peterson

01.03 RB Maurice Jones-Drew

01.04 RB Michael Turner

01.05 RB Frank Gore

01.06 WR Andre Johnson

01.07 RB Ryan Mathews

01.08 WR Randy Moss

01.09 RB Cedric Benson

01.10 QB Aaron Rodgers

02.01 RB DeAngelo Williams

02.02 RB Pierre Thomas

02.03 RB Steven Jackson

02.04 QB Drew Brees

02.05 QB Peyton Manning

02.06 WR Reggie Wayne

02.07 RB Shonn Greene

02.08 RB Ray Rice (keeper)

02.09 QB Matt Schaub

02.10 RB Ryan Grant

Everybody was gun shy, for many of the reasons posted here. Including Keepers, 11 RB's were taken before SJax. With Moss as first pick, SJAX was a great value in the 2nd as RB12...
