Well, I just picked up Bryson in my OMEGA league. Why not? I'm weak at RB and I dropped Larry Foster.

Anyone know if Bryson is STILL hurt??
Bryson was probable a week ago and had a couple of carries.Based on the stats of that game though, I'm not sure if he is the replacement.

Detroit Lions running back James Stewart separated his right shoulder in the first quarter of Thursday night's preseason game against the Buffalo Bills.

ouch, he and thomas were competing for my #3 rb!!!

My apologies to Stewart and his family. This injury is due to one thing... An owner in my local league who loses ALL of his RBs every year. We just drafted last night, and he has Stewart. Also expect LT2 and Jamal Lewis to go down.I'm not kidding. Last year this guy drafted 6 RBs and all of them were out at some point by the middle of the season. He's had Fred Taylor, Terrell Davis, Edge, Jamal Lewis, Jamal Anderson... you name it.This is only the beginning...

I was trying to be real sneaky and grab Bryson of waivers, but someone actually drafted him in our draft on the 17th. Gotta love 14 team leagues.

Bryson is gone in my 14 team league but I just grabbed Cobourne. What the hell, take a flyer with the last roster spot.
I wish i could snag Cobourne but the dude isnt in the player database in the yahoo leagues. Hope i didnt get bryson for nothing LOL

James Stewart (RB) DET Stewart dislocated his shoulder in the first quarter of Thursday night's preseason game against Buffalo, the Associated Press reports. It was not determined how much time Stewart will miss. The Lions have little in the way of backups at running back. Shawn Bryson, Autry Denson and Avon Cobourne are behind Stewart on the depth chart.

alright, sorry to be going back and forth on this, but the announcers just started to say "separation" then corrected themselves and said "dislocation".Still really no clue who the backup will be. Couburne had a nice run a little bit ago. Bryson had a fumble tonight and Denson had a bad drop. I wouldn't be shocked if Millen spends the rest of the night scoping the extra BUF RB's. I'd love it if we had Gary.

I'm glad I already adjusted my $15K roster to remove Stewart... one less thing to deal with tonight.I'm assuming 17seconds is Football Jones, because he beat me to the punch on Bryson, and by the time I thought to grab Coburne he was gone as well. Oh well, I'll try Bryson in another league and give it a go.

You've mistaken me for 17seconds. My OMEGA #2 team name is the same as my FBG handle. I picked up both Bryson & Cobourne in that league after I heard the news. Basically, it was my last two roster spots, so I don't mind playing around with them. I'll try to find out who is first in line for Stewart's job & probably cut the other one. Good luck with Shawn/Avon in your other leagues. :)

Always depends on the degree of separation, but plan on at least 3 weeks, probably more like 6. I wouldn't be surprised to see Stewart put on the PUP.The real bummer is it looks like another 6 weeks of Lion's RB threads. Oh Joy.

As soon as I saw 17seconds post, I thought I'd better check... you had taken him. I didn't think about it at first, but when I finally thought about the other one, it was too late again. :wall: Good job.

This is why I hate leagues with 24hr free agent transactions. :hot: (Particularly as the Omega #2 Stewart owner - didn't have much hope to begin with after a bad draft, but between this and gonzo, I may as well just pack it in now :bag: )

Maybe not, but Washington is looking to unload Betts :)
I think they're actually looking to move Watson. There have been stories reporting that they turned down the Saints on Betts and were trying to trade Watson to them. Watson ran for 534 yards last year with a 4.6 average and also caught 32 passes. He had a couple of 100+ games in 4 starts.

It would make more sense to move Watson.. Isn't he like Canidate?? Same size and type??CanidateVitals:Age: 27Height: 5-11 / Weight: 205WatsonVitals:Age: 25Height: 5-11 / Weight: 205So it would make sense to keep betts a more bruiser back...BettsVitals:Age: 24Height: 5-10 / Weight: 220

gee, what a surprise  i've asked several times why a 32 yr old RB, that can't stay healthy, has started 19 games the last 2 years, is zooming up the draft board? for anyone dumb enough to draft this guy before the 6th round; you got what you deserve!

Wow what a helpful contribution.. I mean stick your finger out and say I told you so some more. Injuries happen people fall on each other.. Its not like its a fragile Fred injury where every little thing bothers him.. This is a legit injury. Now go piss in somebody elses pool.. :hot: :hot:

Somehow, Stewart dropped to the 7th round in all three of my drafts so I had to take him.I was happy about my backup . . . until today! :(

are bryson and coburne worthy of roster spots? and what about pinner? when is pinner expected back?then what happens when stewart is back?

Best bet is to wait and see. There are far too many different directions including RBBC which we all know mooch handles well..

from the NFL.com game recapCobourne finished with 19 yards rushing and set up the Lions' first score when he fumbled on the Bills' 1, and the ball was recovered by Trejo in the end zone. Cobourne also had two catches for 51 yards, including a 42-yarder off a screen pass, the Lions longest play from scrimmage this preseason. Denson finished with 35 yards rushing on eight carries and six catches for 40 yards. He dropped an easy pass inside the Bills' 10 with 32 seconds left in the second quarter, forcing the Lions to settle for a Hanson field goal. Bryson, recovering from a knee injury, saw limited action and finished with 10 yards on six carries.

I suffered two subluxations (shoulder dislocates, then pops immediately back in on its own) in my left shoulder while swinging a softball bat last summer. I ended up with some stretched ligaments and it took me about six weeks before I felt comfortable enough to work out again. It was terrible; there was a noticeable feeling of instability in the shoulder joint and occassional sharp pains. I hear that a separation is much worse, so I would be very worried if I were a Stewart owner. Then again, I'm not a medical professional or anything; just some Schmoe who can't swing a softball bat correctly.

Quick question for you sharks. I'm not nearly as intimate with fantasy info this year as in years past, and the fantasy gods seems to be punishing me since I drafted Pennington and Stewart. Stewart is my RB3 and I have Najeh Davenport hoping for a Green injury. I am lost on what to do about perhaps dropping Dav in order to snag Bryson before someone else does.

I'm not too knowledgable about all this myself, but if I were you I'd drop someone for Bryson. Sounds like he's the best bet to take over out of the 3 possible RBs that could.

If you're available after the 10th round, I'm taking you.

The Lions site is reporting his injury as a dislocation rather than separation. Hopefully it will not be too serious.

James Stewart was injured in the first quarter against the Buffalo Bills in the preseason finale

ALLEN PARK, Mich. - Detroit Lions running back James Stewart left Detroit's preseason finale at Buffalo with a shoulder injury.

Stewart, who recorded his second-career 1,000-yard rushing season in 2002, was taken to the locker room at the 9:06 mark of the first quarter after he was hit by Bills safety Coy Wire on a third-down-and-one rush.

Stewart was diagnosed with a dislocated shoulder.

“James Stewart has a dislocated right shoulder and Brian Williams has a dislocated left shoulder,” head coach Steve Mariucci told the Lions preseason network at half time.

Prior to the injury, Stewart had rushed for 27 yards on seven carries. The injury might affect Stewart's availability for the season opener against Arizona on Sept. 7. He will be further evaluated Friday.

Linebacker Brian Williams also was taken to the locker room late in the second quarter with a left shoulder injury.

Wow, this thread is approaching the Gonzo injury status thread. FFLers MUST be RB crazed (or deprived) :PEdited to prevent the English teacher from giving me a lashing

anyone know when pinner will be back? it sounds to me like he has the most potential for the detroit future.

An interesting article from the Detriot Free Press discussing the preseason performance and, in some cases, injury status of each Detriot backup RB. Sounds like RBBC with CoBourne being the dark horse since he's seen little playing time.

Also, Cobourne's stats from tonight's game:

Cobourne carried four times for 19 yards and caught two passes for 51 yards, including a 47-yarder that was the Lions' longest play of the exhibition season.

I also realize, after failing to proof my own post, that I can't spell D-e-t-r-o-i-t. My apologies to all residents of the Motor City. :bag:

Interesting el-gato. It appears Cobourne also seperated his shoulder a few weeks ago and is now back in playing shape. Here's hoping Stewart will have the same type of seperation.

What the hell are you nervous nellies yappin about? This is FOOTBALL, he'll be back by Week 2 at the latest. He probably plays week one. He's not a QB, he's a runner. Cortisone and painkillers make all things possible. Sheesh.

just my .02I had a sublux in college that I left alone and it lead to a dislocation of my shoulder in basketball practice (played NAIA..nothing special) my choice was to put it in a sling and not use it for 4 weeks and hope it healed on its own...or have pins put in it and then have to wait 3-4 weeks (If I remember correctly) before using it again. I tried to go without the pins at first but soon after taking off the sling I jumped in to water from about 10ft up feet fiirst with my hands behind my head.... my arms hit the water and out went my shoulder. Needless to say I went with the pins soon there after. About 3-4 weeks after going under the knife and I was good to go - just a little weak from not using it(I'm pretty sure that was the time table).
