Still the funniest commercial ever... (1 Viewer)

What's funny is the commercial makers actually have a really good beat on who is watching...and i think that speaks volumes. Great commercial, will be a classic on this board for the next decade...yes in 10 years this board will still be using the word "Championship" for a funnny insert into the posts.

 
My favorite is still the one where a guy is forced to go shopping on Sunday with his girlfriend. While in the store someone says to him from one of those clothes spindles....psst....psst...over here..... The guy goes inside the clothes rack and 3 or 4 other guys are inside watching the game on a small TV and another is grilling hamburgers, and one says.....we LOVE SHOPPING.

I will always love this commercial as I repeated it 2 times during my drafts as I took Howzyurmama. Both times it turned prophetic as I won the league. Way to go TJ!!!

My second favorite commercial is "It must be football season" where the guys is at the grocery store picking out a pineapple when a clerk opens a register "I'm open over here!" only to get a pieapple upside the head.

I'm certain that Housh signed off on the commercial before it was made.It runs primarily on the NFL Network, and he is a friend of NFL Total Access, appearing on Bengals Cam quite often. If he doesn't have a problem with it, nobody else should.
 
How many other of the fantasy football commercials are there? There's "Housyourmama" and there's the one with the newbie where the guy tells him kickers go fast and don't worry about RB's because you can trade for one later. What others?

 
I love the commercial from last year where the guy is shopping with his girlfriend. He finds out Clinton Portis just scored and he just won his league. He turns to his girlfriend and says something like

"Come on"

"Here?"

"You promised."

she then dumps a bottle of Gatorade over his head as he starts celebrating. I just tried to search for it on youtube but no dice.

This link goes to 5, including the Housh and the one you mention, with 3 others with players telling people to draft them while showing off some skills. Not sure if there are more out there or not.
 
going back a ways, a sleeper funny commercial was with Neil Smith and Derrick Thomas for some 1-800-COLLECT or something... Thomas explains that to get Smith fired up before a game they tell Smith his mom called collect as Smith is going nuts in the background. When Thomas is done explaining, he finally calms Smith down and gets his attention. After a pause, he says, "She did it to you again, Neil" or something like that and Smith goes nuts again.

For some reason I always remember that one.

I remember one where Vinatieri drafts a team of all kickers.

The funniest part to me, aside from butchering T.J.'s name, is that they are drafting with a notebook while sitting on a couch. I couldn't imagine doing that. I need my own "table for 4" with all of my spread sheets and graphs and printouts and color-coded rankings and the laptop and the pens/markers. :unsure:

You made me laugh with the first post if it matters. Maybe some folks don't remember people having the same kind of issues with Tim's name on draft day. I know I heard his name butchered a few times at draft parties.
 
Has anyone ever put together a "pre-draft video" with any of this stuff? I'd like to do a 10-15 minute program for this year's draft that included some of these (including both the fantasy stuff and the Terry Tate stuff) along with "Brady." I'd be interested if someone else had done the work to save me the time.

ETA - As a matter of fact, if people can keep posting links, I might do a few extra to share.

Another FF commercial I remember fragments about is one with Julius Jones. If I remember correctly the guy doesn't draft Julius Jones (or didn't play him one week) because of all the bad rap he hears from all the experts. Then it fast forwards in time to an announcer saying

Julius Jones td..another td...and another td!! I hope you have this guy in your lineup!!!

And it shows the guy in agony on the couch. Hilarious.....but not as good as the TJ commercial.....write it down, championship! God that's hilarious.

 
I almost forgot about the "Four Months Ago" campaign by the NFL Network. They really get my vote.

 
Wasn't there one with Reggie Bush last year? Talked his buddy into taking him 1st overall, then with the second pick Reggie says something like "I can't believe you were stupid enough to pick me. I'ma take LT."

Good call. Sounds interesting. I could throw all these clips in movie maker to string it together into one movie, but I'm sure other people could do better more/creative things with it.

That's all I was thinking of doing. I'm hoping that someone artistic will pop up here.
