1.07 Peyton Manning QB1 DEN
7.07 Eli Manning QB23 NYG
Pretty solid combo here but I wonder if backing Peyton up so early will cost you elsewhere. We’ll see. Eli should bounce back and I doubt the brothers share a bye week. You will be solid here as you should be with the investment.
2.10 Arian Foster RB12 HOU
8.10 Fred Jackson RB37 BUF
9.07 Andre Brown RB41 NYG
10.10 LeGarrette Blount RB47 NE
20.10 Bilal Powell RB80 NYJ
IMO Foster will be an interesting player to watch as I see him probably bouncing all over the second round and maybe even third rounds of 12 team leagues. Heck, not sure anybody would have really batted an eye had he fallen to the third here. Let’s be honest dude is banged up. Back injuries suck. I probably would have taken Spiller over him right now in this format. With this group I think you will need Foster to really be that RB1 as your other guys will probably be fine in getting you an RB2 score. Brown pretty solid in the 9th but your Eli pick could have been Ridley who I may preferred over Jackson. And your Jackson pick a WR there. Hmmmm. Eli definitely was the end of a tier where you took him though, but I still might have rolled the dice and passed, which is pretty much what I did in WSL cause I also took Peyton. I’m interested to see who has a better year, Ivory or Brown, they are going in same area right now. Blount could be a swing pick in this group, could be money, could be bust.
3.07 Andre Johnson WR15 HOU
5.07 Wes Welker WR28 DEN
6.10 Cecil Shorts WR35 JAC
11.07 Rod Streater WR59 OAK
12.10 Doug Baldwin WR66 SEA
14.10 Kenny Britt WR72 TEN
16.10 Jerrell Jernigan WR80 NYG
I like this group, nice work. Not a lot to say, I like most of these picks, even Britt. There may be some teams with more fire power up top but as a whole I think you will hang with everybody in this format. A Britt resurgence would make this team tough to beat.
4.10 Jason Witten TE7 DAL
17.07 Rob Housler TE36 ARI
I understand why you took Witten where you did. Pitta falling in these drafts was a major oversight by most which is kind of shocking with the quality of drafters here. Had you known you could get him later, it might have been easier to pass on Witten in the 4th. Even some of the combos you could have put together starting in the 8th would have been pretty solid. But Witten should be in line for another solid year and in this format he is always a top pick. I have no statistical basis for this to back it up, but I think Housler could end up being a steal for you. AZ could get some oline help which could free up some Palmer to Housler action. I think he outplays TE36 big time.
15.07 Stephen Gostkowski PK3 NE
18.10 Caleb Sturgis PK25 MIA
13.07 New England Patriots D/ST9
19.07 Jacksonville Jaguars D/ST32
Solid to above average here.
Overall: I wondered if I would keep going back to the Eli pick and I am. If I had an issue with your team, that would be it. That it could have been better. I think that pick could have been used elsewhere and you should have rolled the dice. Bottom line: I think you would have used that 7th rounder at a different position to score for you more then you will as scoring at your QB position. I think you did a pretty good job not being “weak” in any one area except maybe RB with the questions about Foster’s health, Spiller a stud in front of Jackson, etc. I think you could have done the dance a little better with that 7th round pick and waited for a Hoyer/Vick/Locker later. But I do still like this team. Solid at QB/WR/TE/PK/DST. RB will make or break you, if Brown is the man, that helps a ton. Good luck.
Thanks. I pretty much am aligned with everything you said. I knew Eli there was a make or break moment and that it was likely a poor decision given I already had Peyton. I just felt like Eli was going bounce back and Peyton wouldn't repeat and so getting a QB that was guaranteed to start and probably would deliver 4 scores for me was worth it. We'll see!
Me too but we are sitting at 18 people right now. Not sure if we will have enough for 2 16 person leagues. I didn't realize that the combine onfield workouts were done on Sunday. Thought they carried through to Tuesday since they don't we could draft with full combine info starting this Monday but we would probably have one 18 person or two 9-10 person leagues. I think 18 is too big though.
Feel free (everyone) to recruit people on the boards you know would actually be active through the draft. We have a pretty good core group here many of whom have yet to state they are in for BBAPL.
