Storage Wars on A&E TV (3 Viewers)

Been watching the Storage Hunters marathon on TruTV. Man, and I thought Storage Wars was fake...
Try auction kings - those guys get a 10 bagger unit each episode.
It's not the stuff in the storage units that's fishy as much as it is the fake fighting.
Get to the episode yet where the fat chick accidentally shoots the guy?
Oh yes. That sealed it.

They should just put Brandi in that leopard print minidress every episode and call the show "Cleavage Wars" or "Storage Boobs".

Thoughts on the episode where the weird guy overbid to buy his meth lab back?

Do you mean Auction Hunters with that big tatted dude? There is an Auction Kings too, but about a auction house. I can't believe how many storage unit related shows there are.The worst part about Auction Hunters is when they go to sell the stuff. They have no clue on value, take it to an expert for appraisal. Appraiser tells them some high number, their eyebrows go up, and they play hardball and sell it to him for close to what the appraiser quoted. Has to be fake. What buyer in their right mind tells a seller the value and then buys it for that price?

Auction Hunters does not pretend to be real. These are simulations of items they have found through out their career. The actual "selling" of the item is suppose to represent how they would have gone about selling it. I may be watching a different show than you but I have almost never seen them(Alan and Ton) sell at close to what the buyer thinks he can sell it for. They typically bargain down to around 40-60% of what the buyer thinks he can sell for.

:goodposting: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Although to be fair there is a big disclaimer in the beginning saying it is all a recreation of some of their bigger finds.

Alan and Ton were also struggling actors before they landed the Auction Hunters gig. Alan though has been in the buying and selling business for a long time.

Never saw that disclaimer before. Had no idea it was all re-created. :bag:

I started watching this crap a couple of nights ago. Horrible show. After three hours of watching it, I still thought it was ignorant, but I couldn't stop watching it. I'll be watching it the next time it's on too. :bag:

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!!!!!!!!!!

That was nothing compaired to the naked guy in a dogcage inside one locker.

Did a search and was suprised there wasn't a thread on it.

Resently started watching this show.

This show has it all. Action mystery great cast and a hot blond.

Is it the best show on tv right now?

YUUUP!

There is a thread.

It's gotten a little formulaic, hence it can be boring sometimes. But as long as Brandi is on the show I will watch.

Are they trying to bring in another person? They've had a few people now in a couple of episodes that seems like are auditioning or something. And they've been terrible so far.

The guy that thought he hit gold because he found an old original NES and thought it could be worth $15,000 was hilarious. So wooden and stiff. He clearly was just repeating what he had seen on the show.

And the woman last night was terrible too. Big talker and dropped a lot of f-bombs bur seemed completely unnatural and boring.

Dave is getting rather boring. I'll bid em up and stick em them with it. Then he wins the locker he's trying to bid up all of a sudden it's becomes I'll double my money these guys don't know what they're doing.

I bet Dave leaves the show soon. He has the best business and clearly doesn't need the show like the others. I think that's why A&E has brought in a few new people to some auctions and they've just happened to be "big spender" types like Dave.

Nabila has been on 3 or 4 shows now. I read somewhere (I can't remember where) that Dave Hester is demanding more money from the Network. I wonder if they are auditioning Nabila as a possible replacement. She seems to have the same schtick as Dave.

They or she are/is trying to portray her as a veteran. A vet would have know that gun was a reproduction.

That would surprise me. This has to feed his ego and also must be good for his business.

There was an episode on last night where she didn't know she had fake coins as well. A vet would definitely know to check them with a magnet and immediately known they weren't silver. So they're either lying about her experience or that whole part was staged for tv.

Nothing would feed his ego more than being paid more than the other guys

I thought they claimed that the people in the show didn't get paid?

And last night Brandi was shown as being Jared's Wife and Partner. I thought they weren't actually married?

:goodposting: I don't think the lockers are staged, but I do think that they stage some of the expert stuff. It is better TV if they take it somewhere and the guys gives them it would have been $25k but...it isn't real instead of her just saying its fake and tossing it aside. I told my wife I could tell it was a fake based on the wood. It looked more like the toy guns I had when I was a kid where the paint chips. Back in the revolutionay war, pretty sure they actually used good wood and didn't have to paint the guns brown. The coins I can understand because she did have a bunch and some were real. Heck, the dude that put them in the locker might have bought fake coins and not known it. There is a reason fakes are out there because people buy them. There were enough coin sets (the ones in packages you can buy from the Mint) that I wouldn't have checked every coin.I do think they are moving Dave out, but I don't like Nabila. Her schtick is awful.

Really? I thought it has been mentioned multiple times before that they were married. I could be wrong, but I thought it had been mentioned.

When they did the retrospective show at the end of last season they said they have two kids together but are not married.

dave is in contract talks with A&E and wants more money , i will have to look for the link
http://www.tmz.com/2012/01/09/storage-wars-dave-hester-contract-negotiations/#.Txb8pW9rMsI"Storage Wars" star Dave Hester -- the "YUUUP" guy -- tells TMZ he's ready and willing to walk away from the biggest A&E reality show ever ... if the network doesn't up their "unjust" contract offer. Hester was out in L.A. this weekend ... sporting a hat with his signature catchphrase on it ... when he told our photog he hasn't locked up a deal to return to the show next season. The reality star explained, "Right now I'm in negotiations with A&E and I would just hope they would get away from their unjust contract negotiations ... the ball is really in their court."He adds, "I don't know what their plans are ... but I would like to be on the show. Maybe 'Storage Wars' without Dave Hester??"And to make matters worse ... Hester says he wasn't even invited to A&E's Christmas party.A rep for A&E had no comment.

Well I'll be honest, if A&E is trying to gain leverage against him by trying out these replacements, they're doing the exact opposite. These other people totally suck. Darrel is an idiot and I can't stand to watch him.Jared is an idiot and I can't stand to watch him either.Brandi isn't hard to look at.Barry is awesome. His schtick is hilarious. He'll never turn a profit long-term, but he's my favorite. But Dave makes the show. Darrel and Jared obsess over him. Their only goal seems to be to "beat Dave Hester." He's great at what he does and his personality is not only a great foil for the other buyers, but he's downright funny.

There are a lot of things to complain about in this show. But Dave clearly said from the beginning that he liked that unit he bought yesterday. Not sure what he liked in it and don't think he doubled his money, but he wanted it.

I'm sure Dave would like to get more money and probably deserves more, both in comparison to the others and to what A&E is bringing in on the show. But what he's already getting has to be good money in comparison to what he makes in his regular business. It's certainly helped him expand his business, and it's money he is not going to be able to replace if the show goes on without him.

That would surprise me. This has to feed his ego and also must be good for his business.
Yeah. Guy's head is too big to even consider leaving the show. He may be really successful but he's still a giant #####.

I don't see why Hester should get significantly more money than the others. Maybe slightly more, but that's debatable.

Dave needs to stay on that show as much or more than any of the others. The fleet of trucks shows that he has made significant investments, probably all based on what continued growth he thinks he is going to sustain.

Barry doesn't need the show, Jarrod and Brandi seem to only have added a second side to their small shop as new overhead, Darrell doesn't seem to have added anything.

I can see this show only having a limited shelf life remaining, one to two seasons at most. The crowds are going to get out of hand, everyone wanting to bid against the stars of the show and therefore pushing the prices through the roof. "Yes I spent five grand on a pile of dirty blankets, but I shut Dave Hester up."
