Straightforward question (1 Viewer)

Dirty Weasel

If you had to take one WR, but could only have him for 2008 and 2009, who would it be? Who do you see having the most combined FF points (1PPR, 1pt per 10 yds, 6 per TD) for 2008/2009?

Who's going to get the most points: I'll go on a sturdy limb and take T.O. He's old, but I think he's got 2 more in him.

Who would I take: Wayne or Housh. Solid players in steady offenses. The new Torry Holt(s).

I like Wayne or TO. Romo is still very young and he will only get better as an NFL qb. Wayne looks like he could be the de facto number 1 wr for manning if harrison is hampered with this injury for next season. You can't forget Randy Moss either if he stays in New England or if he goes to another team with a good offense. Steve Smith could also be in the discussion when delhomme comes back next season.

1. Braylon Edwards--odds are good that somebody good will be throwing the ball (Anderson or Quinn)

2. Reggie Wayne--just hitting his peak and Manning and Addai will be good for a long time and Harrison is WR2 now.

3. Andre Johnson--HOU has a QB finally and look to be improving all around and AJ is hitting his peak.

4. Santonio Holmes--racking up points alongside the great Heinz Ward who's skills are on a slight downswing.

5. Marques Colston--if Brees can stay healthy

6. Steve Smith--if CAR can find ANY QB.

7. TJ Houshmandzadeh--competition from #85 and Chris Henry but TJH is the go to guy with a lot of targets.

I'd call the first three the top tier and then everybody else is about equal on the second tier.

I don't think New England will pay the money it will take to sign Moss and I don't think he'll put up the same numbers with any other team except maybe Indy.

1. Wayne -- Likely to be the #1 WR in at worst a top 3 offense for the time period. Almost always healthy.

2. Moss -- I think he stays in NE and continues to put up great numbers, but you can't ignore the injury history.

3. TO -- He will turn 36 in December 2009. If anybody can be in top physical condition at 36, it is TO.

Those 3 stand out as extremely talented WR's who are clear #1's on great offenses. There is a meaningful gap:

4. Steve Smith. How quickly we forget. By 2008 Delhomme should be back. I worry about durability.

5. Andre Johnson. Locked in as the #1 WR for a decent QB. Mega-talent. Trust his QB situation more than Braylon, and don't know what is going on with cinci next year.

:( Calvin Johnson!

no, my cajones aren't that big.

I guess i would play it safe and go with Wayne, but Moss would be hard to pass up.

Wayne and then (2nd) Andre if PPR

If Plaxico could stay healthy for 2 years I'd put him ahead of Andre, gotta wonde what he could do when he's healthy

Just keeping a tally here. Of the 12 who replied, these are the WR's who got votes of confidence (whether listed 1st or simply mentioned):

Reggie Wayne - 10

Braylon Edwards - 5

Randy Moss - 5

Terrell Owens - 5

Andre Johnson - 4

Steve Smith - 3

TJ Houshmandzadeh - 3

Marques Colston - 1

Santonio Holmes - 1

Of the people yet to be mentioned, I am most shocked not to see Chad Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald.

I am happy, however, that Reggie Wayne seems to top the list. My vote also goes out for him, but I didn't want to put that in my original post.

TO is a beast and keeps himself in great shape...to me he is the easy pick....

then Wayne

then Edwards

TOP 5

Moss .. He's staying in Beantown , can't see him leaving... he finally get's it......will continue to produce amazing numbers.

Owens .. He's a physical freak who is a happy camper in Dallas.

Wayne.. I dont think he will ever lead the league in FF points , but will be top 5 for awhile

Edwards .. Not sold on Quinn as a quality starter , we have'nt seen anything to say that..... If Anderson stays , Edwards is great.

Andre J ... lead the league in catches in 06 ..deadly in PPR.. and oonly going to get better in 2008
