**Streaming Defense 2015** Week 15 - Playoffs: No time to get cute (1 Viewer)

Any notes from the guys that got to see the game tonight?

(specifically how did the Lion's D look?)

Its really hard to tell from the highlights I saw, but it seems like aside from a few fluke plays the Lion's D looked decent.

Seriously considering them for the playoffs............and any help is appreciated.

I thought they looked good for stretches of the game. A lesser QB may have crumbled, maybe. I thought they looked more aggressive in the first half. Not sure if they got a little conservative or GB fixed up their protections a little bit. In the end, the TE made a good catch on the hail mary play, but DET really didn't defend it very well.Mixed bag, but i think DET has the talent, coaching, and potential to outplay and potentially dominate some weaker teams, and their schedule serves it up. The problem, of course, is they tend to fail when it counts the most. I love their upside but would never be comfortable trusting them with anything of value on the line.
They have two leaders on the defense who have been playing at an elite level, and they've been the critical elements in their outstanding team defense over the last four games.

DE Ziggy Ansah is second to Watt in second to Watt in sacks, but he's a complete player, very active in stopping the run. But he's inexperienced; the Ghana native only started playing American football six years ago. He's already showing signs of greatness but it'll be interesting to see if he continues to develope into a dominating All Pro.

CB Darius Slay is also in his third year, but had a rough start to his year. He was burned repeatedly v. San Diego and Denver. He turned his season around, and over the last two months PFF has consistently rated him as the top 2/top 3 CB. Not a true shutdown corner in that doesn't shadow, only plays the left side. In two games against the Packers, he gave up one completion. Teams now rarely challenge.

There are other competent pieces to the Lions D. DE Jason Taylor has been improving greatly over the season, Haloti Ngata clogs the middle, DBs Diggs & Abdul-Quddus have stepped up. They miss DeAndre Levy, one of the best cover LBs around, and the LB corps is just average.

Would agree with VandyMan they might be hard to trust despite the easy schedule. It's a dysfunctional team that has a history of ups and downs, and they've got 10 days to recover from a soul crushing loss that effectively killed their slim playoff hopes. You have to wonder how a hungry a 4-8 team with nothing to play for will perform. Lions fans are probably hoping not well, to ensure Caldwell doesn't return. Not sure that players GAF what sports talk radio has to say.

From a FF D perspective, they get excellent pressure, force few turnovers (13 YTD, only 5 INT which is next to last), but they've been solid of late in terms of YA and PA. Historically they play much better at home, so if they show some heart in StL & NO, they'd be an excellent play in Championship week at home v. SF.

Is there a reason why you sign each post?
He's mentioned it before. Used to post on another board and the user name was not prevelant (or even able to be seen), so most users on there signed their initials. Habit.
Thanks for actually answering the simple question, sans vitriol. Weird how that offended so many. Also weird is the reasoning to keep signing.
Its not a matter of "vitriol", but you can call it what you like.

Note- I do not read every thread, nor do I read every post.

You may well be a great member with high quality posts and additions to most threads you participate in.

The scant few I have seen, well that hasn't necessarily been the case.

A few offhand recent entries I remembered were from the Cleveland Browns thread, and the NE @ Denver threads which often resort to name calling.

Regardless, don't take anything personal, which it seems you may have.

Viking Frog mentioned why I do, and its a habit I got into many years ago.

Long before message boards became "popular".

It is what it is, and I probably won't stop anytime soon.

There are a handful of others here that occasionally do it, (or they always do) I don't have the time to check. Nor do I care, NOR does it bother me if they do.

And instead of saying "weird is the reasoning to keep signing" , perhaps you should ask yourself "Why does it bother me that he does".

If you think your question "offended so many", then all that tells me is my own take of a few of your recent posts must parallel the thoughts of a few others here.

Its this part that bothers me the most.

At some point teams seem to "give up", even if only 5%-10%.

Thats all it takes to keep some of these teams and players from being top notch, and puts them right back into "mediocre" or "average" category.

This team is in a bad state right now, for a number of factors. This last pitiful loss is just another reason for them to give up in a sense.

You have to wonder exactly how much of this actually shows itself each year.

As casual fans and fantasy players, it can be hard to determine if its players resorting "mailing it in", or if in fact its also being wore down as the season goes along. Obviously, much harder to determine when its a team like this, or say Cleveland. (one that seems hopeless yet again)

My problem having Denver is one that all Denver owners should be worried about.

They have been elite all year, and it seems they are regressing back to the middle of the pack.

I have personally watched this thread each week, knowing things may be tougher at the end of the year.

Not only has it gotten a little tougher (schedule wise) but I assume the defense is wearing down some, as one would expect.

Detroit just happens to be one thats available in every league I am in, and the schedule looks to be juicy enough where it might be a good play.

The last 4 games they have had 13 sacks, but only 1 INT and 1 fumble recovery.

I do see they had a very fluky high number of fumble recoveries in the first 4 games, including THREE vs. Seattle in week 4.

They will have Foles next week vs. STL if Keenum hasn't returned, and I don't know that matchup scares me if either one starts. :D

Not sure on the Lions run D though, they do have to fade some little known guy named Gurley.

The one matchup that does actually scare me a bit, is @ the Saints in week 15 in primetime week 15.

Drew Brees often shows up on these primetime games, and him going berserk vs. a Lions team that may be mailing it in in week 15 could be a recipe for disaster.

Not sure I like Denver vs. Big Ben that week either though.

Once week 15 rolls around, I might have to scour the wire then.

Thats going to be a crucial week for those of us that are fortunate enough to make it through week 14. (most 12 team leagues)

I have a couple 10 team leagues I'm in also, and they are something that I will be looking for streaming options for soon.

Better off if we can snag a couple choices and sit on them now in advance before they get acquired by others.

Here are a few other "just for playoffs" streaming acquisitions I am looking over.

INDY - Week 14 @ JAX, Week 15 vs. HOU, and Week 16 @ Mia.

MIAMI - Week 14 vs. NYG , Week 15 @ SD, Week 16 vs. INDY.

This might be a solid weeks 15-16 play, made even better if Luck is not back in week 16.

Of course we won't know that for another week or two, but last I heard he was already throwing, so he will likely be back that week.

Is it a "shark play" to consider playing the OAKLAND defense in week 16 @home vs. SD???

They are getting a fair amount of sacks and INTs, but the problem is they are giving up a load of points.

The last two weeks that has come down a bit.

The last few weeks, I have time and time again looked at who is facing SD in the playoff run.

(especially at RB, I'm trying to start as many as I can vs. SD the last few weeks)

I'm all-in on the Bears. Yeah they are at the bottom of the pile but a pathetic SF team in shambles traveling east playing a morning game in Chicago smells nice. Gabbert? And the Bears played on Thanksgiving, the extra rest can't hurt.

It's about the least obtrusive sig on the boards, and easier to skim past than all the two-man-league roster breakdowns that litter shark pool sigs.

Odd thing to have a problem with, if you aren't just looking to make waves.

Fixed

otherwise :goodposting: .

I picked up Detroit earlier this week even though I already have the Panthers and Chiefs.

Great matchups on the horizon.

Bears have a shot to get to 6 and 6 this week with a win, John Fox is a ####### genius given what he was given to work with on defense and the injuries. I think they come out and make Gabbert look like the real Gabbert we all know and love, potential shutout imo. Good luck!

Anyone rolling with the redskins?

Home game, division game and tied for division lead, Matt caassel, Monday night. All sounds pretty good and they have been putting up double digits the last three games. Due for a regression? Or are they going to win the nfc east?

Thatguythere: I am rolling with Washington with confidence. I am hoping that Washington has the momentum to keep playing well as they have something to play for while Dallas is in regress mode. At least I hope!

That's it. One guy? Might have convinced me to take Chicago. I like that Monday night matchup though.

I'm rolling with the Redskins. I like the matchup but I also like the advantage of the Monday Night game. A couple times this year streaming has burnt/almost burnt me by scoring negative points. If I have a >1 point lead going into Monday night, I'm benching them.

I picked them up too....what the heck. Monday night, division game....If the Giants lose they can be on top alone in the division right?

Debating on dropping the Chiefs since it sounds like Houston may be out for awhile. Texans already on my roster but Alfred Morris is available and I could use the RB depth.

I dropped KC. They both have similar juicy playoff schedules and they both put up comparable points. At least I won't have to stress over which one to play and, ultimately, pick the wrong one.

They bristled up in the second half. I'm a fan and some of those 2nd quarter conversions, I thought, were a bad sign. Only 140 yards against.

I might roll with Cincy for a second week, especially if the Browns will be starting Austin Davis at QB.
Solid choice most weeks ROS. When I picked them up to start last week :excited: and compared them to DEN (my starter all season) I was surprised to find I liked them better in 4 of the then remaining 5 weeks.

Last week we got a bit lucky, though. VG IRL but not elite FF wise. Their first TD of the year was timely.
I am rolling with Cincy again.
:hifive:

:hifive:

anybody stream the Saints?

:lmao:

divisional games at home, man - ya never know

gotta figure out how to set the blocked kick return on the DST - thankfully nobody started them, first one in the league, but I need to fix that for next year

Hope you didn't do that...Chiefs are rolling, rolling, rolling. Many thanks to the folks in this thread for pimping them hard a few weeks ago. Paying off big time!!!

San Diego, Baltimore, and Cleveland for the playoff march...doesn't get any better than that!!!

Looking ahead to Week 14 (and the rest of the playoffs) here's who I'm considering:

* Jets vs Tenn. Despite Mariotta's huge day today, he doesn't particularly scare me. Jets also have a great Week 15 match-up @ Dallas, but finish vs NE. Revis may still be out, and they just haven't been that good for most of the season.

* Detroit @ STL. Hail Marys notwithstanding, Detroit's D has been playing well lately, and STL is stuck in neutral. They have a tough Week 15 match-up @NO, and then play SF at home, which looks good by the numbers, but Gabbert has at least turned the Niners into a non-pushover.

* Buffalo @ Philadelphia. This one's not looking as good right now, is it? Honestly, what worries me more is that the Bills have been coasting on their rep for most of the season. They follow this with an OK match-up at Washington, then a dream one vs Dallas.

If I knew all three would be available each week, I'd probably want to go Detroit-Jets-Buffalo. But for now I'll probably just target Detroit, then maybe grab Jets if I have the roster spot. I'll worry about Week 16 if I get there. Bills don't seem worth holding onto for three weeks just for that Week 16 match-up.

Oh, I did. Evidently I severely overestimated Justin Houston's injury. Thankfully, I didn't need them until week 15 thanks to already clinching a bye. May stick with the Texans or get the Chiefs back. Both have great schedules weeks 15 & 16.

Held onto the Chiefs more out of sheer forgetfulness than anything else, otherwise I would have dropped them for the Bears.

Another shining example of how I tend to be a better fantasy manager when I do absolutely nothing at all.

Made the brilliant move of dropping Philly this week. :wall:
Eh, why beat yourself up? Trust the process, not the results. There's no way in the world it would have been smart to start a collapsing D on the road against one of the best offenses in the league. Just one of those games.

Got snaked on the Lions, so I'm rolling with the Jets. Might try to pick up Buffalo, too. But don't feel great about either of them.

I have KC and NYJ in one League. Wash and TB in my other. Ill see if any of the people out of the playoffs make some dumb drops on defenses. Going to be an interesting playoffs.
