**Streaming Defense** Weeks 14-16 FF Playoffs (1 Viewer)

Anybody like Cincy home vs Trevor Siemian?

Given the talent Cinci has on defense, I don't think they're a terrible play. Broncos have been able to move the chains, but with more FG than TD, and I'm not sure how well they'll do in Cinci, especially if the Bengals can get up a score or two. The problem is that Denver's D is pretty adept at scoring, so even if Siemian doesn't seem like a threat to score, the D/ST might.

I'd put the Bengals as a top 12 start this week. Maybe better if things break right.

thoughts on MINNY @ Carolina.  Great Def but facing Cam at home with Kelvin, Olsen, but  now a RBBC.

I'm not seeing this.  Hoyer has been a decent QB.  I think he plays solid in place of heartless Jay Cutler.
I mostly agree, though "solid" might be optimistic.

IMO Hoyer is a dink & dunk dude - it's hard to get FFB points from a D/ST with a guy like that - doesn't hold the ball enough to get too many sacks, short passes are harder to intercept, except Hoyer still manages to throw his share of Ints.

Still - he'll dink and dunk you to death. Not sure I'm sold on "solid", but he's not going to make a ton of mistakes. You'd have to hope that when he does, it's a pick-6.

Do people think Raven's D is good or just got lucky because McCown got hurt after they allowed 20 points last week in the first Quarter?

missed on mia, pick up pit.  the cowboys were there, but i think the wentz factor is going to rear it's head in tis game.  at least i'm hoping it will! :D
By Wentz factor do you mean he'll play awesome and some how pull out a win? Cause that'd be great but I don't think that's good for Pitt

uhhh...the rookie has to play like one sometime.  just the law of averages says he's due for a turnover or 2.  low yardage and under 17 points is what i'm hoping for.  pickings were slim this week

I didn't get the Dolphins, so I think I'm going with the Giants. You guys think they're a good pick? Cousins seems to usually struggle on the road and the Giants D looks a lot better than last year.

I do - the Redskins are hardly clicking on offense - Cousins isn't throwing any TDs - Giants pass rush and secondary improved - they were my 2nd choice if I didn't get the Fish.

Wouldn't call it the Wentz factor then. The guy has been their best player through 2 games. Maybe he plays like a mediocre QB but I don't think normal rookie rules apply.

dude.  we froth at the mouth at any rookies starting.  he's played 2 crap teams and now he plays pit.  they're gonna be down big and that pit d is gonna be coming for him hard.  him being a rookie will rear it's head this game, i hope.   and since his name is wentz, the wentz factor it is!

My top two choices available are the NYG and Patriots.  The Patriots seem to be ranked higher this week on most fantasy sites, however I'm thinking of rolling with the NYG.  Here's my thought process.  The Patriots will be using their 3rd string QB and I expect there could be some turnovers or at the very least their defense may end up on the field longer.  The NYG have been playing decent enough and it's hard to tell if the Redskins will show up to play or not this weekend with all the locker room issues regarding Cousins.

Anyone have any thoughts about these two defenses this weekend (NYG and Patriots)?

Ok.  Just trying to help.

Thinking of dropping Vikings for Dolphins with Coleman out and Kessler starting.  My big concern, obviously, would be that the Vikings might just be a dominant every week D and virtually matchup proof.

Thinking about dropping NE for either Cincy or MIN myself.

My only hesitation is that NE gets:

  • BUF
  • CLE
  • CIN
the next 3 weeks

Got snaked for the Miami D, so I just made the decision to stick it out with the NE D I was planning to drop...sometimes my best FF moves are when someone stops me from doing what I think is the smart move. I'm easily my own worst enemy in this game.

Watch out for Washington. They are available pretty much everywhere, and they should be a prime candidate next week vs. The Cody Kessler led Browns.

If you can snag them now, it might be a decent stash.  Stay a week ahead of the others if you can.

For sure.  I still think Miami is gonna score well.  Probably not a shutout, but several turnovers and a def score are probable

Hey hey hey I gotta back my brother up! You realize the Eagles D isn't exactly the little sisters of the poor right? Don't be so sure Pitt is "gonna get up big." Also, the Steelers haven't won in Philly since like 1965. Just sayin'...

+1. Trying to figure out who I can drop or if I risk dropping Fish for them next week. Would be nice to keep Fish and Wash and have CLE-CLE-TEN for the next three weeks.

Dolphins for me this week.

And hopefully Redskins next week and I'll have started off the first 4 weeks against CLE, barring Cleveland somehow going nuts this week and turning into a fearsome O

Agreed. Isn't Hoyer's nickname "pick six"?
You're thinking of Matt Schaub.

Hoyer's very inconsistent, but Good Hoyer is capable of shredding a defense. I don't think Dallas is a terrible play (Chicago's offense isn't that good regardless), but it's not like Hoyer makes them a must-start the way, say, Cody Kessler does.

My view is playing against a QB with no NFL game experience is a huge boost.  Not nearly the same boost as a journeyman NFL veteran.  I consider Dallas in the bottom 25% of the defenses in the NFL at this time so I don't see the boost enough to make them more than an average consideration for the week.

My concern with Dallas is that they're not a talented defense.

A good matchup isn't suddenly going to fix the Dallas pass rush and secondary.  More likely it makes Chicago look better than they are.

If Jeffery is out, it's a more tempting matchup, but not by much.

I'd rather start a D like Cinci - tougher matchup, but a defensive unit that can get sacks & picks.

I agree on this. In fact, aren't they a better defense in Week 3 over Miami and certainly going forward??

Yeah, I agree that it's generally better to go with talent over situation. I'll never forget the time a few years ago when I had the Seattle D and they went absolutely nuts against Arizona. The following week, I somehow convinced myself to sit them in favor of Detroit (who was playing Arizona). I think my logic was that Seattle was much worse on the road. Anyway, Detroit crapped the bed and the Seahawks scored another defensive TD, and it cost me a shot at the championship.

Of course, I'm making an exception to that rule this week with Miami. There's situation, and then there's *situation*.

i love stats like this.  they've played 8 times in philly since 1965.  8 times in 50 years.  wtf does that have to do with these teams today?  most recently in 2008.  and before that, 1997. then 91, then 79!

i'll give you that philly is a tough place to play, but i think that this steeler team is gonna get em this time.

good luck all

Have the choice to go with Vikings @ Panthers or Bucs vs. Rams.  Usually I go with the more talented defense but the Panthers are damn good.  Anyone rolling with Vikings this week with confidence?

Just as a fluke, last night I saw they were available in one smaller league I am in.

I thought they were long gone everywhere.

So I am firing them up tomorrow vs. CAR.  Do I like it?  Not really.

Would I rather let them sit and snag another "streamer type" defense?  Not really.

This is the week we find out if they are truly elite in my opinion. If they do "fair" here, then then can probably be started most weeks from here on out with no question.

Sadly, in my two biggest leagues, I am streaming, and there is nothing but garbage on the wire in those two.

I am rolling out the GMEN in a league where I am already at a deficit because of facing  the NE defense.  I get the feeling this is just the type of game where Cousins comes in and slings it everywhere (like usual) except a few of his wild chucks actually find their target this time, since I need him to be awful.

I just noticed there is Philly on the wire in that league.   Reasonable play vs. PITT?  PITT can go crazy at any time, but the Philly defense has looked great thus far.

GMEN vs Cousins, or Philly @ home vs. PITT.    Anyone got any clues here?  I could really go either way, but Philly does look like the better long term solution, and may be a startable defense from here on depending on matchup.

EDIT- Just noticed Philly on a bye next week, that doesn't help matters for me, I have Cobb there.

I'm hanging on to Philly cause I think they're gonna be top 10 this year. Picked up Miami for this week. We'll see about next.
