First justified episode was awesome. Loved it.
I enjoyed it. But the daughter angle is stupid and unnecessary. I hate when shows resort to that. It's like Oliver on the Brady Bunch.
In case you didn't know ... his daughter in the show is played by his real life daughter.
heard him interviewed on Fresh Air and he talked about this.

basically he played it off as just an amazing coincidence that his daughter got the role when he's the star and executive producer of the series. who could have foreseen her getting the role?!

Just finished night agent. Basically a very, very light version of 24. After watching the entire 24 series, it was a rather big letdown. Definitely will not commit anymore time to subsequent series.
We are trying Night Agent this week. First five episodes were decent, then it fell off big time for us. It feels like a soap opera more.than anything else. We have like two episodes left. Not sure if we will watch season two.

Decent, but too many eye roll moments

She's not good at the acting thing

Maybe she'll get better

Weakest part of the first two episodes

Can somebody briefly explain Black Mirror? Are they each individual horror / sci-fi stories?
Like others have pointed out, it's an anthology series. Each episode is its own thing. Some episodes run like 40 minutes are so. Some are 1:20+, basically like a feature film. In any show like this, it is inevitable that some episodes are going to be better than others, but (a) the quality of this show is superb and pretty consistent across the first handful of seasons and (b) if you don't like a particular episode, no biggie.

If you decide to start this and are unsure about whether it is for you, I very strongly recommend NOT starting with S1E1 (The National Anthem). That is a very good, highly relevant episode. But the subject matter is extremely off-putting to viewers who don't know what they're getting into. You can come back to this one once you're a few episodes in. The next two episodes -- 15 Million Merits and The Entire History of You -- are both 10/10 episodes that accurately signal how this show operates. If you watch those and don't like them, you can comfortably skip Black Mirror. But you'll probably like them.

Edit: Actually, The Entire History of You is arguably the single best episode in the entire series. Everybody has their favorite, and if we did a poll I'm sure San Junipero and maybe a couple of others would give it a run for its money, but that episode is firmly ensconced in pretty much everybody's Top 5. And it requires no set-up and follow-up. If you don't like it, Black Mirror probably just isn't for you, which is fine obviously.

I had watched the first two seasons of Black Mirror by myself. When the third season was released, my wife wanted to know what everyone was talking about, so I randomly picked an episode of Season 3 to watch together (I hadn't seen any of Season 3 yet). I picked "Shut Up and Dance." Lol she absolutely hated it and has refused to watch any other Black Mirror episodes ever since.

Watched that episode last night, thought it was pretty good.

Lol that was one of the best episodes

Season 6 of black mirror started out strong with 2 great episodes, a 3rd episode with a great concept but dragged, and 4th and 5th episodes that didn't even feel like Black Mirror episodes.

The Bear S2 was incredible

Reading all the hype, finally broke down and got Hulu. Wife and I binged both seasons in four days. It’s not like any tv show I’ve ever seen. It’s hard to say that I “enjoyed” it given how stressful nearly every episode is. But it is absolutely riveting television. Season 1 was really really good, but Season 2 was a master class. It’s definitely not a show for everyone, but for those it does speak to, I think it will blow you away. I think I had some of the same emotional reactions to The Bear that I had to Whiplash, which I absolutely loved, and Uncut Gems, which in the end was just too dang stressful for me.

I re-watched Whiplash recently and I'm about halfway through S2 of The Bear. This is a great comparison. Stressed is a perfect description of how I feel when I watch the shows....but I can't stop watching them!
Regarding Whiplash, I never thought I could hate a JK Simmons character as much as Vernon Schillinger from Oz. But, he outdid himself in Whiplash.

In fairness, there are at least a half-dozen episodes that about as dark as that one. If your wife didn't like it, that's a good indicator that this show just isn't for her.

I’ll finish this Justified: Primeval season but it’s purely for nostalgia. It’s decidedly mediocre. The daughter somehow manages to be both whiny and mumbly at the exact same time and is just a terrible actress. But even without her, it’s pretty meh.

Yeah, the main dbag is so dumb.

The daughter is such a trainwreck I honestly don't see how they moved forward with her in the cast. It's like that season of Curb Your Enthusiasm, except real.

I've lost a lot of respect for Olyphant.

But I'll watch it through too.

She's the opposite of better in episode 3

Ugh

I loved the first two episodes. The daughter clearly isn’t a good actor but it’s been great to me.

I'm not sure what your criteria with acting is but the level of dumb from his daughter matches the level of dumb of my youngest son (21), I find her to be believable vice some shtick of a character

Started watching The Last Ship to get a feel for if it's something the wife and I should put in the queue to watch together. Don't think I'll subject her to it. It's okay but I can see why they cancelled it. Maybe if we run out of other things to watch.

I have taken a binge break and just been following a handful of shows currently airing.

The Righteous Gemstones: A, they are crushing it this season, Succession meets Ted Lasso meets Eastbound & Down, Uncle Baby Billy (Goggins) nails every scene

Hijack: B, probably could have been a 2 hour movie rather than 7 episode series, the episodes drag at times but the action and tension make up for it, and Idris Elba is Idris Elba

Justified City: Primeval: C, worth watching because it is summer, none of the chemistry or comedy from the original, Detroit is an awesome setting, surprised to see a guy I went to high school with in a recurring role

Joe Picket: D, I love the books and enjoyed season 1 but this season is so bad I stopped watching after 4 episodes, is anyone watching it/does it get better?
Unfortunately it does not. Found myself fast forwarding through it, but it’s really corny This year. Was hoping it would get better too as I like that type of show.

We mowed through the final season of Barry over the last couple days. Loved it. Have no idea how people didn’t like it but different strokes.

I tried it out. Bill Hader is just too weird for me. I felt that way about Jim Carey too. It's too over the top. I wanted to like Barry but I couldn't make it past 3 episodes. I could be broken.

Bupkis - a comedy based on Pete Davidson's real life (but also made up stuff ...)

lots of stars (Joe Pesci, Brad Garrett, Bobby Cannavale) and a ton of guests and cameos

we like it a lot.

he lives on Staten Island with his mom (Edie Falcone)

ETA: it's on Peacock (that I had to get to see the British Open since f'n Direct TV in my area no longer has NBC ...in addition to not having Fox for almost a year now)

The last ship any good?
I'll go with fairly good. Predictable action series, b-level dialogue and acting, simple "fun" if you like shootouts/action. Kind of The Walking Dead with the survivors on a ship searching for a cure but the dead are dead and adversaries await.
