Caught S2 E1 of Happy Valley last night.

For anyone that watched Dowton Abbey, you'll see Mr. Mosely caught in a bit of trouble.

I really like the main character female lead in this series.  Frumpy, nothing great to look at, but good acting, and good character.

Yeah, she's great. Not a lot of older women as leads in good TV series', and they really picked a good one with her.

we really liked S1 of the show. we're only a couple of episodes into S2 and it's not as sharp somehow. we'll watch it all, of course, but this season is all over the place.

My kids watched the new Pee-wee Herman movie on Netflix. Big Holliday or something. It was entertaining. Not as good as Big Adventure but still funny.

I'm into E3 and couldn't agree more.  Another problem is that it's one of those productions where the audio volume during important dialogue goes up and down and I'm constantly searching for the remote to adjust the volume, and then there are other conversations where the Brit accent is so thick I need subtitles.  Can be really frustrating.  I think I'm actually going to need to go back and re-watch E3.

Another   for Love. Binged it this weekend and thought it was pretty entertaining and funny. I've always been a fan of how Judd Apatow develops his characters and this is no exception.

me and my lady are really liking luther brohans it is an english cop show and you should turn ont he subtitles like on peeky blinders because the cockney and stuff is hard and also you will learn the innit is a word i guess so bam a little europe in your ear courtesy off the old swcer and i aint talking about the final countdown take that to the bank
I always put on subtitles for Luther, Peaky Blinders, and SWC's posts.

I'm liking Flaked.

I just posted this minutes before a pretty dark twist that only fueled what I already like about this show.  As the character who revealed it says, "I didn't see that coming".

Started watching The Wire after hearing how great it is. Watched a couple episodes and thought it was good but not phenomenal. The wife won't watch another episode and says it's not her thing. When does it start turning into awesome?

The first 4 episodes were a bit of a drag and certainly not as good as S1 stuff, but the last 2 episodes are very good.

Well, that reply is for Yudkin, but what the hell, this board knows better what I should be posting about, like google smart replies.
I watch so little tv and have looked even less at threads and discussions of shows. Finally got to watching Breaking Bad to show you how behind I am.  Figured there would be plenty of folks that watched The Wire who could make a quick comment.

On the second viewing, The Wire is awesome right from the first scene in the first episode.

But on the first viewing, before you know all the characters and what's going on, I'd say it starts to get good in about episode six or seven.

Seasons 3 and 4 are the best television seasons ever. Season 1 is pretty great too, but like a novel you need to give it some time to figure out what's going on and who all the characters are.

I want to say I have watched it all the way through 3 times, plus catching various episodes here and there.

During my 3rd view through, which was my wife's first time, she was commenting on being very confused as to who all the characters were and figuring out exactly what was going on.  I had no recollection of such a feeling, but maybe it is just a hindsight thing.  I also tend to not really care so much about the plot, as long as the tone and theme is right for me, and assume that I will eventually figure out what is important to me.

All of my TV preferences should point me towards loving The Wire, but I just couldn't really get into it.  Gave up a few episodes into S2.

They had me at "Snot Boogie".

Just wanted to add that something is proposed at the end of episode 3 that is so ludicrous, so beyond the pale of reality that it would make the writers on The Young and the Restless blush.
We just finished the 4th episode as well.  We alternate between rolling our eyes and gluing them to the screen.  Still love the main characters, but the writers are really struggling for the shock value.

Watched first ep.  Will keep going because i like most of the people involved, but it certainly wasn't amazing.
The Mrs. was watching this and I followed along for a bit.  I thought it was stupid.

It's definitely a slow burn, particularly early on, but at some point along the way you really develop a deep, intimate even, connection with the characters.  Like most emotional connections it's hard to explain but at some point it will just happen.  Not sure I have met anyone who doesn't feel that way.

I think the moment I decided I was truly going to enjoy the show was S1EP4 "Old Cases" when Bunk and McNulty investigate the apartment.  It's commonly referred to as the F### scene, slightly NSFW language (and nudity technically but it's not gratuitous) so I won't post it here, but it's on YouTube if you want to search for it.  Although if you're three episodes into S1 then just stick it out for another.

I was in 100% from the intro.

"Got to.  It's America, man".

The wife and I just finished "Nurse Jackie."  Liked it, didn't love it, but finished it nonetheless.  Looking for something new.

Watched ep1 of "Girlfriend's Guide to Divorce."  Is there more gratuitous T&A as the season moves on?

How's "Wentworth"?  Just looking at the still shot on Netflix reminds me of a knock off of OITNB.  But I'm hearing it might be better.

I watched the miniseries prequel, The Corner first... I devoured the Wire at first sight after that.

I guess I'll have to give Love another shot. First episode didn't grab me at all- especially the dip-####, annoying nebish lead guy somehow possible having a shot with the cell-phone commercial girl... let alone the uber hot female lead.

The show is a slow burn. The Wire was groundbreaking in that it doesn't have a bunch of shootouts or overly melodramatic scenes. If you don't want to see the tenacious, methodical process of building a big case, then the show probably won't appeal to you.

to the surprise of no one here, I loved the Wire. Season 2 gets a bad rap but it's my second favorite behind S4 (which brought me to tears). S1 and 3 are *really* good though.

sheeeeeeeeeeeeeet
Season 2 is amazing. It's just that palooka dock workers aren't as charismatic as drug dealers. I think season 2 is every bit as good as any other season of The Wire.

I've heard that comedian a bunch on the Comedy Bang Bang podcast and he's really funny. But only having watched one episode of Love, I think it's rather ridiculous that we're supposed to just pretend this enormous nerd would be dating really good-looking women. There are more plausible McGuffins in Guardians of the Galaxy.

I actually enjoy Wentworth a touch more then Orange is a New Black.. Some really good characters and a good story line.

anything nebbishy hits too close to home.
This one warms up as it goes. Flaked on the other hand is killing me. Some of the worst music ever on tv. And I'm so sick of alcoholics in my entertainment. If you can't responsibly enjoy your drink, #### off out of my tv.

I watched episode 1 of the Wire last year and never bothered to watch episode 2.  After hearing great things about the show I watched episode 1 again last month.  I still haven't watched episode 2.
