Did you watch the whole season?  It's been interesting so far to me but I'm only a couple episodes in.
Haven't finished yet, on episode 6.

Solid. One of those shows you moderately enjoy but mostly forget about later.

Feel like Bojack Horsemen is the tv equivalent of Destroyer for me. Every time a new album/season drops out, there's critical adoration, and then I check it out and feel...nothing. But more nothing than usual.

I think it's marketed more towards women but Outlander is really good so far. Only like 6 episodes in, but the acting is extremely good, it's historically interesting, good storylines and character development. Some nudity for you guys who forget porn exists, I wouldn't say it's gratuitous in an HBO way as that part of the show is done in a more romance novel way imo.

Took me two attempts to make it through the first episode and I tapped out after two. Not a fan, but my wife really likes it.

Yeah the first couple episodes setting everything up feel almost like PBS fare (minus the sex), but it quickly improves imo. Probably not for everyone

That show is truly excellent. Takes a couple episodes as you said but there's a lot to like about it.

Yup. It's hard to ask people to invest 5-6 episodes before deciding if it's for them but if you can make it to the Scottish tax collecting/British interrogation episode which I think is 6 and still not love it...then it's just not for you, obviously. I've been really pleasantly surprised. I had been hearing good things forever about it, but it's exactly the type of show that is sometimes pushed as being better than it is due to some of the timely/important subject matter--women's roles throughout western history, sex positivity, etc. It's lived up to the hype so far though.

Yep same here. Gave a few episodes a try and didn't laugh at all. I don't get it. Big Mouth is more up my alley.
It stinks that Bojack's first 3 or 4 episodes are the weakest in the series. I'd say, if you really want to give it a go, watch a recap of season 1 and try starting on season 2. You'll miss out on the crushing "tell me I'm good" scene - that was the point that took the show from good to great for me - but you'll be able to see the show in its groove (rather than the clunky Family Guy flashback jokes from the first few episodes).

Also, Bojack has a bunch of gags, but I wouldn't call it a comedy.

I have been guilty of this in the past as well (The Boys), but I think it's a little sad that it's hard to ask people to give a show a handful of episodes or the 1st season to decide if it's good or not.  Mainly talking a show that tells a story over time, not really a comedy that you probably can tell and a few episodes if it's your style or not.

The show or the season?

The show is a blast, but after a couple episodes I'm having a problem with the way this season has been made (goofily overwrought).

Eta...discussed more in the peaky blinders thread
I'm about 5 or 6 into s5 peaky blinders and while I'll keep going, the overdone aspect of everything this season is distractingly bad to me. Writing, acting, direction, art direction, lighting, music, ... Everything.

Tell Me Who I Am - critically acclaimed or something.

The actual premise is great (true story). I thought the pacing, execution, and feel of the documentary was awful. Unpopular opinion I guess according to critics. It did nothing for me except tell me a pretty macabre story that I could have read about in 5 minutes.

Just my :2cents:

Wait a sec...is this only 1 season?

It's either two or three and ends on a bit of a cliffhanger unfortunately. Worth it though. Due to the huge boost in her popularity/demand of her services most people don't expect another season to ever be made

Edit: guess I misremembered and it was all one season. Damn

You guys might be talking about different Crashings. UK series was one season.

Yeah... Just googled- uk version is only 1 season. Fleabag continued the vibe and probably better, even if a couple great characters are lost

I thought you were talking about the Pete Holmes one lmao

I’ve had the same thought...a bit overdone.

Amazon prime has Annihilation. Has good reviews. It's a grrl power movie but well done and a fascinating story and ending leaves you thinking. I'm still thinking about the meaning of the movie a day later. Done by the same guy that did ex machina

We watched S1 and thought it was mostly garbage. Quality actors delivering tripe lines and cliche plotting. Didn't care for it enough to continue.

I binged “Living with yourself” the new Paul Rudd series on Netflix.

overall a solid B
B seems reasonable.  I thought it started off good but kind of tailed off the second half of the season.

It very well may have been from the beginning as you say. Somehow, I never noticed it- completely enjoyed it until this season where it's hard to ignore. It's like they're getting paid by the backlit, slow-mo walking group shot with "cool" tunes blasting.

We've been slowly watching this.. a few in and totally enjoying it. A bit of a Charlie Kaufman vibe.

ETA...and really enjoying the physical and written differences between the Rudd's. Subtle, but not too.

Watched The Snowman on Netflix, I’d give it a B.  Surprised I had not heard of it before...some star power, solid acting with an average story.  Man has Val Kilmer not aged well.

I’m on episode 6 of “another life”.... a not so great sci-fi Netflix original series.  Unless you are a sci fi junkie you won’t like it.   A solid C-

If that's the one with Starbuck from BSG, you're being really generous. I barely made it through one embarrassingly bad episode and pulled the plug. It was poorly written millennial hell.

I can’t get it out of my mind. The ending is genius and a work of visual art

I liked Dolemite.  The part about how he came up with the character and put out his first album was interesting.
