Stupid Baby Names (1 Viewer)

Yeah I don't really care if my son's name is on the list. We like his name. I think it's cool and I'm pretty awesome. If he's half as handsome as me, it doesn't matter what his name is.

Wait till he comes home with ripped underwear from a day full of wedgies. Keep up the good work Zed. If you can change the mind of one hipster doofus adult who's about to give their child a terrible name that'll lead to a childhood of ridicule, then you should be proud. Keep fighting the good fight.

I named my son after my grandfather who was dying of ALS and whose only wish was to meet his first great-grandson in person before he died. He missed it by a week. And now some tool on a message board tells me it's a stupid name. What the #### ever.
My oldest son's name is Kellen. People on this very board laughed at me for it. They still do. For about a milisecond, it bothered me. Then I remembered it was a MESSAGE BOARD. You can't let it get to you. And if it bugs you, grow a harder bark. Eventually, you'll be able to understand that people aren't attacking you, they're just looking for easy laughs. If you provide it with a name choice, so be it. People laugh at my name all the time. I laugh with them. Forrest Gump jokes are easy to make, easy to deal with and easy to understand. So long as people are laughing, I think that's good.Sucks that they are laughing at your kid's name, but you'll overcome it and laugh with them in time.

If you seriously put up a name in this thread and it gets slagged then all the people IRL who tell you it's great will be lying to you.
I don't give a damn whether they're lying or not. Telling me my child's name is stupid is no different than telling me he's ugly. It's classless.
You don't have to care. That was not my point. There have been a bunch of names that have been run by the members of this board and I'm sure that some of them are actually real and not just shtick and many of them have been deemed stupid by the members. IRL people do not tell you that your child's name is stupid or that your child is ugly. Most people are not that rude but just because they don't tell you doesn't mean they don't think your child has a stupid name or that your child is ugly.

:lmao:Side Note: Why does someone or some alias feel the need to tell the La-a story every few pages and pretend that it just happened to them?

Is this thread just pure shtick? Perhaps I'm more sensitive than others considering my name and the crap I took for it, but to insult parents for what they name their children just seems mean to me. Maybe I've misjudged the thread's intentions, but mocking people for what they name their children is what bullies would do.I also like La-La. :bag:
I think it's best to have the kid's future in mind when naming them. Go crazy with middle names if you're nostalgic.
I bet as a teacher you've seen them all. :lmao:
No question it influenced the naming of my kids. Were you influenced by your past name issues when naming your kids?
I like my name now. I used to resent it. Crap Pick, my middle name is Vannerson. :lmao: No wonder I'm a mess. But I like my sons' names. I like that they are unique, but not so remote that people do a double take. I'm glad we didn't pick common names and do a spelling variation. I named my odlest son after Kellen Winslow, the TE from San Diego who inspired me with this playoff performance vs. Miami. I always told myself that would be the name of my first son. What a gladiator he was. My oldest son plays the recorder and likes to read. I don't think he could throw a spiral if his life depended upon it. :wall:

When I told my mom (yes, my own mother) that her newborn grandson's name was Jackson, she said, and I quote""Well, I assume he's not black, so I hope he grows up to be the President"

Friend of mine worked as a substitute teacher. One day, during attendance, as he stumbled on the name La-La, a girl in class derisively stated "It's pronounced leDASHla."
If true, this one is the winner for dumbest name ever.

Middle names don't count. In fact, I think that's where parents can get crazy if they want.

I got no beef with Kellen or Forrest FWIW. The spelling variation thing people do with names is stupid and egotistical but not so bad as the name itself.

With my kids it's probably bad to say but I name them like dogs. There just comes a name along and you're like that's it that's the one. And if that name is weird than fine. If it is the same as a relative then great. But naming a kid a weird name just for the sake of weirdness or being different is lame IMO and a diservice to the kid.Just had a big conversation with the students over this as a former student is naming her son Zander.

My cousin was very close to our Grandmother. In the hospital, the day before our Grandmother passed away, that cousin told her that she'd name her baby after the Grandmother if it was a girl. The name would be "Annabelle" (a bit old fashioned for me, but she'd have probably gone by Ann or Anna.

They had a miscarriage. They got pregnant again, it was girl and they named her "Seery".

Her husband says it's a different child from the one they made the promise on and a coworker of his just had a child named Annabelle. Sounds lame to me, because it's not like they refer to the child they had as their second child and they didn't have a funeral or ceremony for the miscarried child. I don't think the pregnancy was far enough along to even know the sex.

I'm not upset. I just wouldn't have had the nerve to not follow through with the promise.

I think Seery is a weird name.

Do you have a kid? They very easily could have grown attached to the child before the miscarriage and now the name doesn't work because the first will always be their Annabelle. Tread lightly on this one.

It's been asked by her mom and that's not the case according to them. And they did consider Annabelle as a middle name or as part of a hyphenated middle name but the husband didn't want a hyphen.

I love this thread. You know there are at least a couple of people in here that are being influenced by it and a couple more that really think some of the stupid names are a good idea. I would also bet there is at least one person that buys the La-ah shtick.

Did I ever get a ruling on my little girls names?

Finley and Abigael
IMO, they're fine. Variations of Fin, Finley have been really popular in my area (downtown NYC). Abigael seems spelled a bit off, but it's a fairly traditional name- can't imagine anyone would find fault there... even the people in this thread who want the world to be limited to the same 10 names.

My wife's friend had a baby today - named Keegan. Named her Keegan.
Is it supposed to be a boy's name or girl's name? I've heard it before, so once I get clarification it's going on the list.
good boy name, bad girl name
Are you serious? I guess I can add it to both lists then.
My cousin has a son named Keegan. PGA Champion Keegan Bradley.

Solid boy name.

Solid Irish boy name?

Finley sounds stupid. Is that how you spell Abigael?I'm guessing this is more Irish crap?
Wifes madden name is McKenna......whats that tell you?
Wait... is that McKenna the first name, or McKenna the last name...?
Wifes last name was McKenna. She wanted to give Finley the first name of McKenna......but my sister stole it from my wife about 5 years ago.she's still pissed about it.

Did I ever get a ruling on my little girls names?Finley and Abigael
Both good names. We almost named our son Finley.
So Finley can be a boy or a girl? Just like Keegan? That sort of makes the names stupid.
If some knucklehead names their daughter 'John', does that make it a stupid boy name?
Well that's a good point. So Finley can be a boy or a girl, and is different than Finn? And Keegan is supposed to be a boy's name?

by the way, having your maiden name as your daughters first name is pretty stupid, so your sister did you a favor.
