DRAFT STARTS GENTLY MONDAY MORNING

Draft Rules

• Football Draft: A slow, snake draft -
• Music Draft: For every player selected (both in the draft and in-season), you must also post a song that relates in some way to that player - leaving this fairly unrestricted, as long as you can make the connection, it can be based on birth/college/NFL city, name, number, lyrics, whatever...

Options for Roster/Scoring

Superflex format with deflated QB scoring
1 point per 50 yards passing
1 point per 10 yards receiving and rushing
1 point per reception
6 points for all TDs
-2 points for interceptions and fumbles


2 Superflex (QB/RB/WR/TE), 1 RB, 2 WR, 1Flex (RB/WR/TE) , TE, D, K


Normal Option
1 point per 25 passing
1 point per 10 yards rushing or receiving
1 point per reception
6 points for all TDs
- 2 points for turnovers


1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 Flex (RB/WR/TE), TE, K, D
5 bench spots and 1 IR

This should keep the waiver wire open and active, prevent anyone from hoarding a position to block others.

That’s the one thing making me consider not returning. Some people just stopped adding songs after the draft as if they just wanted be in a fantasy football league and reluctantly put up with the musical aspect during the draft so they can be in a league.

I'll do it. After partnering with neal cassady and later simey, I've discovered I'm a terrible partner and I should probably be my own team.

Would have to be fairly harsh. Just spitballing for opinions:

If a player is picked up from free-agency/waivers without a corresponding song being posted (either to this thread or to the league's Comments section) within 48 hours ... that player is removed from the roster and made a free agent.

A 48-hour window wouldn't prevent picking up someone Saturday or Sunday without posting a song, starting them, then dropping them after their game. So maybe 24 hours? 12 hours seems short (and would require a A LOT of monitoring).

Could also do it where a song has to be posted to the league's Comments section same day as the pickup is executed (or within a day for late-night pickups).

I was not necessarily thinking needed to do something punitive. I was just noting that the OP only referred to rules for the draft to include a song with your pick, but did not note it as a rule for in-season pickups too. I was just thinking putting something explicit in the rules in the OP could make clear that is part of the rules/expectations too, since some were not posting songs for their in-season pickups last year.

If others want to add some bite to it, I’m open to it though.

I also had trouble adding music one year. I think I went back and just knocked it out. I wonder if there's a way where we can't change it so it's not the same thing (location). I wound picking a lot of the same songs and don't want to do that again. But that said, I don't have any ideas about framing or parameters. That's what @Northern Voice has always excelled at (hey, NV!) and I wonder if he doesn't have any ideas.

This gives a little more balance between mobile QBs and pocket passers. It also gives TEs a little boost to be more relevant in this format. Or would people want to maybe even try 2 PPR for TEs to really stretch the depth of the position considering we are going to be a 14-16 team league?

In sum ... QBs don't get rushing yards in this rule set. No rushing TDs either for QBs? QBs only score via their arm -- is that right?
