Sunday News, Notes and Inactives (1 Viewer)

Quick review of some of the bigger news items from the week and things we're watching this morning:

David Thornton was limited on Friday and may not play this week. If he does, the suggestion that his injury kept him out of the nickel last week likely means the same will happen again this week if he's active. Look for Stephen Tulloch to play every down again against Houston.

The Jaguars look likely to use even more 3-4 this week. Depending on the healthy of the Cardinal WRs, they may be in a nickel formation most of the day anyway. No major impact likely other than those with Derrick Harvey should be watch his rotational snaps closely if Quentin Groves is healthy enough to play.

Jamal Williams was placed on IR with a triceps injury this weekend. Stephen Cooper shouldn't take a significant hit, as Williams wasn't healthy often last year, but there's likely to be some impact as the defense adjusts. I'll be looking for some clarity on the Burnett/Dobbins issue this morning, though I think Burnett still plays the vast majority of snaps.

Chris Horton was benched during the second half last week. Hopefully we'll get some indication of how that situation will play out before gametime.

It appears that there's been no major movement on the linebacker replacement front this week. Hunter Hillenmeyer will play MLB in Chicago and likely play every down. Gary Guyton looks entrenched as an every-down ILB/MLB in New England. Marcus Buggs will start in the middle in Buffalo, but won't play in the nickel.

We'll be also be watching the Chiefs' tweets and blogs for any news on movement in their LB corps, though I'm not expecting anything yet.

Others out this week are Green Bay's Atari Bigby (Aaron Rouse will play every down), Seattle's Leroy Hill, New York's Chris Canty and Indianapolis' Bob Sanders.

Others unlikely to play are Carolina's Chris Harris (Quinton Teal will likely fill in again), Detroit's Cliff Avril, Philadelphia's Victor Abiamiri (more snaps for Juqua Parker), Kansas City's Brandon Flowers, Seattle's Brandon Mebane, New York's Kenny Phillips and possibly Buffalo's Terrence McGee.

I'll post the inactives and other big news items as they roll in, which they'll do much earlier this year with the explosion of Twitter, then we'll sort out any messes afterwards.

Good luck to everyone this weekend.

Not yet seeing any news on Derrick Johnson or Chris Horton. For now, expect both to be out of their teams' starting lineups.

The Redskins official site lists Horton as a projected starter, though that was posted prior to the inactives/lineup press release. There's nothing in the usually solid Chiefs official site game blog to suggest Johnson's been moved into the starting lineup.

Beside Roman Harper's name on ESPN it says he's OUT. Very surprising to me, i'm going to look for a source right now.

ROD Harper is listed as inactive
:wub:This was apparently an issue last week as well, though this week it's a bigger deal with Roman on the injury reports.Roman Harper is definitely active.

Is Groves expected to play? You mentioned in your first post that he may not be healthy enough... Any update would be much appreciated as I currently have him plugged in over Adams. It might be too late to change anyway but would still like to know...

He was limited slightly with an ankle issue. Wouldn't ordinarily be worth mentioning, but it might be enough of an issue to keep him from getting the majority of rotational snaps that some had projected for him this week.

Has anybody heard anything on Kenny Phillips for SNF tonight? Hopefully we'll hear something before the game, when will they announce inactives? I can't afford to have him sit, not knowing if he's playing.
