Sunday Night Football *** Dolphins at Chargers *** (+3.5, 55) (1 Viewer)

Chargers should be cruising in this game. They have basically had 2 bad plays.

Hottish take: Brandon Staley has been a sideways move at best from Anthony Lynn, and should very much be on the hot seat. This team has a Franchise QB, and several high end starters and has no business not being a playoff team. Injuries be damned, this is a poorly coached team, and if its true that Sean Payton has interest in coaching Herbert, Chargers shouldn't hesitate to kick Staley to the curb.

That advanced OFR was ridiculous. Super flukey and bounced to exactly the perfect player to score.

Kinda think if LA can have a long drive, that just gets a FG, the game is theirs. Can't see Miami scoring 2 quick scores with the way Tua and the OL are playing. As long as Staley doesn't stupidly leave Hill 1-1 deep for no reason whatsoever.

Miami might squeak into the playoffs. Demanding schedule, concerns about Tua and coach MM and DC Boyer. And Hill banged up.

The time of possession was 2 to 1 for the opponents 2 weeks in a row. Coach MM and Tua need to help the defense with time-consuming drives. They've fallen in love with passes that are difficult to complete.

Red zone play calling atrocious and so conservative.

Miami Offense does not look smooth
Very jittery and was like that last week vs San Fran
Have teams figured out Miami's passing game?
Yes they have. Take away the middle and you get the last two weeks.
Did the 49ers break the Dolphins?
Actually no they did not......the film...the blue print was from believe it or not the Cleveland game. The Browns pretty much took away Hill and Waddle. The difference in that game was our OL mauled their defense and we ran the ball like the 1960’s Packers. Also Tua was brilliant and I argue played his very best game vs the Browns using every tool in the tool box. Dump offs, TE’s 3rd and 4th WR’s making multiple reads and taking what was given.

He has failed miserably the last two weeks being laser locked onto Tyreek and pretty much only Tyreek and the middle of the field. No dump off’s, no screens, no outs, no TE’s, No FB, no RB’s......it has been let’s throw it up down the middle every single solitary play.

They have been figured out. Drop 6-7 middle cloud...underneath and over the top support.....make...no dare Miami to run the ball and throw to the sidelines. Here is the catch.....we all know...well those of us who are not in the “Tuanon” he has a weak arm to the sidelines. It’s a fact. He has no fastball to the sidelines. It is a huge weakness.

How about that freaking laser dime Herbert threw to Mike Williams...going to the right side of the field, throws a 50 plus air yards dime against his body to the left side hitting Williams in stride. Tua can and never will ever make a throw like that. He has clear physical limitations. Defenses are now forcing him to play better with those limitations by taking away his greatest strength. The middle 20-30 yard strike. He has terrible fundamentals on outs and deep balls. But his fundamentals on the middle seam and crossing patterns are spot on. But that is it. He has no other throws he excels at. Well ok he does also have beautiful touch pass abilities. Very pretty balls he has thrown this season with touch.

But even his touch passes have been off now the last few weeks. Which is also a strength. So yes.....the film is now being passed around the league.

Also and I believed I mentioned this in our homer Dolphins thread......we SUCK I mean SUCK historically on the West Coast. They proved me right again with that. 0-2 in 2022 on the left coast.

Buffalo this Saturday night? Snow? Wind? The Bills Mafia? This offensive scheme in very cold blustery snow flurry conditions? No Jerry Wilson?

Prediction? PAIN. Lot’s of Pain and we are gonna get smoked off the field.

And hats off to Justin Herbert who was a conductor last night as he was under constant duress and pressure.....constant. And carried his team to a huge win. That is what happens when your 6’6 and have a cannon and can make every single throw regardless of where you are on the field.

Herbert is Elite. A stud and will be an eventual HOF QB IMO. Wins are a team stat.....not a QB stat. But there are times QB’s will teams to wins.....Herbert has done that with this group. The injuries the Bolts have endured have ben the worst in the league this year. Everyone has injuries......but the Bolts have an obscene amount at key spots. Herbert is working magic this season with lemons.

As far as my Dolphins....we may squeak into the post season. But we are not an elite team. This defense is not good enough to beat the Bills (I don’t care what happened earlier this season) and Chiefs....or the Bengals. All three of those teams hav Elite QB’s that will slice and dice us. Boyer needs to go. And I did not hear Bradley Chubbs names once last night. Now.....he has freed up Phillips.....so there is that. But I need to hear your name at least once man. Wilkins has been great. We need to somehow retain him. But as far as making it to the SB and winning one? Nope. I still maintain....we have too many limitations with our QB that will be exposed by good schemes and better teams. We face a 30th ranked defense and made them look like an elite defense....we made no adjustments. Just a terrible job coaching last night by Mike McDaniel whom I really like. But he is also learning.

My fear is Tua will be just good enough to keep his job but not good enough for us to look elsewhere and we are gonna waste another 2-3 years in this window we have......yeah....he is good. But he will never....ever be elite IMO. Stand by that.

Great analysis by @Todem

Last year, Tua and Waddle had a short passing game that was like a running game, with high probability passes on short slants, short outs, and WR screens. What happened to those types of passes? Gesicki is having his worst year since 2019. It seems like coach MM wants to prove to the world that Tua can throwing it deep. He throws an accurate deep ball, not on a rope, but he's already completed more deep passes to Hill than Mahomes did in 2021. However, those passes don't keep drives alive most of the time. Hence, a 2-1 time of possession advantage for both SF and LAC. A lot of the last 2 defeats is on coach MM, but did you see how SF and Brock destroyed TB? Based on the last 2 weeks, BUF at -6.5 is easy money. PS: Chubb may be overrated.

PS: Chubb may be overrated.

he's playing 64% of snaps v 75% when he was in Denver - IDK how well he fits with what they're trying to do but he's def a Pro Bowl level pass rusher

3 FF is one off the league lead, 2.5 sacks and 9 QB hits last 4 g but I haven't looked at All 22 to really understand what they're doing with him

I've seen him dropping him off into coverage a bit and that doesn't seem optimal to me

I think he will be fine.....and we are no doubt getting a DC for 2023. We need to have a better DC than Boyer who is IMO is not working out.
