**Sunday Night Football - Lions 6-3 at Eagles 7-2**(-3, 47) 8:20 (4 Viewers)

Weak call

Imagine losing a Super Bowl on something so ticky tacky…
This was way worse lol
The call in the SB on Bradberry was the right call. Bradberry was an idiot shouldn’t put yourself in that position. Then again deciding to not punt it out of Bounds put them in that position. Eagles deserved to lose that game based on coaching alone in that game.

Defense played out of their minds tonight. Detroit wouldn’t have gained another yard even if that penalty wasn’t called.

I’m 47 years old and this might be the best defensive performance I’ve seen.
2000 Ravens
1986 NY Giants
1985 Bears
1976 Steelers

But this Eagles D is up there.
Other than the 2000 Ravens, I was pretty young. But yeah this Eagles D kind of reminds me of that 2000 Ravens D.
Talent level is there as an aggregate, but that BAL D had Rod Woodson, Sam Adams, & Ray Lewis in their prime. They allowed just 10.3 points per game and pitched 4 shutouts. They gave up less than 1000 rushing yards all year and forced close to 50 turnovers.

I don’t think this Eagles D has any individual players on that level, but they have a ton of depth & a number of very good players. My opinion, of course.

FWIW, can't fault the refs on costing the Lions. They shot themselves in the foot too many times for that.
Mostly thanks to the Philly D swarming. Breaking up passes and making Goff feel under pressure near instantly.
When the booth also is saying it was a terrible call...you can post this and pretend like the call meant nothing in the overall game but it certainly did
1 score game, Lions would have gotten the ball back down a TD with 1 timeout still left and 1:40 on the clock...

Game deciding penalty that’s absolute *********
lets be fair....that was NOT game deciding. Lions were VERY unlikely to drive 70 yards for a TD
Is that how we are judging if DPI calls are bunk or not? Based on what might have or might not have happened the last 1:40 of regulation with a team loaded at the skill positions?
Interesting

That has to be a "buzzable" play

Detroit wasn't going to win but that was galling
Should review that after the year to let that be reviewable.
I honestly hate review and I'd do away with it. But their stated goal is to "get it right". It is a judgement call and done at full speed but lets use our brains here, in the context of 58 minutes of how the game has been officiated, its appalling .

Everyone can beat the Eagles until it's actually time to beat the Eagles.

They might look ugly doing it, but they just win.

no MOP, but you're acting like its a foregone conclusion the Lions would have scored a TD with one more chance, and the game clearly indicated that that was very unlikely. And again, as bad as that call was (and it was terrible) the Eagles also had a couple drives ended by bad calls....remember the "false start". Refs didnt cost the Lions the game, they cost them one more desperation drive when Lions showed no ability to drive the ball all game, and especially in the second half

When did I post it was a given the Lions would score a TD?
I never said anything close to that

And we haven't even begun to discuss the outrageousness of going for it on their own 29 yd line on 4th and 1 and breathing life into the Detroit Lions to begin with
Just as the momentum was going to the Lions and the Refs stop all the fun tonight as usual

It was a terrible call, confirmed by Collinsworth in the booth, where was the "AI" Ref they always run in to confirm good or bad calls, sounded like he left the building early as well

LOL ref is scared of the crowd

Batteries, snowballs at Santa. It isn't like he doesn't have a reason.
do we need to tell the real santa snowball story again?

No, but are you guys really going to deny your reputation?

They had a guy in here celebrating Skattebo’s injury. Of course they deny the filth with which they associate.

Jamo can’t ever not do something good without reminding you he’s part-assclown.
Bro. You’re my guy on these forums. But no one celebrated an injury. Stop spreading bs.

Blu, you're my boy!

Joe suspended the guy that said that they'd injured him and now they should "take the Giants' soul."

Everybody was right there. Joe said " . . .if you come back." Everybody was like, "Dude."

And that "dude," is, "Dude, Philly fans have a very weird relationship with their emotions and it often tends towards the ugly and violative."
What he said was untoward. But would agree now, he was not celebrating any injury. Right?

Dude, c'mon, unckey. I'm not really in any mood to get cute. If you stood over a guy whose leg was broken and said to your friends, "now let's take his Mom's soul," there would be a brawl. Don't insult my intelligence. It's that simple and you can nitpick, elide, or evade but words only have meaning if:

a) God exists and there is a universal truth and an eternal and constant standard by which He judges, or,
b) there is no God, but we agree to communicate by a fixed human standard within particular contexts and cultures in order for our words to be understood and carry significance and meaning

Therefore, if we are going to go and "take the Giants' soul" after a Giant has suffered a gruesome break of a limb we are either: 1) knowingly transgressing against our Creator and his creation by playing a version of a fallen evil and in doing so we rebuke His omnipotence, His omniscience, and His grace, or 2) we know damn well what that phrase means because we have all been swimming in this context and culture for a long time and we know it like a fish knows water.

The way I suss it out, you can either choose a little acceptance that the fan base from Philadelphia has some deeply troubled souls, and maybe praying for those people might uplift them and appease the Almighty; or you can see that "the group" determines context and throughout history the group has had little room for specious claims to semantic reprieves when it is obvious what is being urged and wished for. In this latter case, that turd better duck.

I was at the game with friends and sometime in the second half one of them said “our offense sucks!” And I said “do you know who else had a sucky offense? The 2000 Ravens.”

Just let’s start all talking about how bad the Tush Push is if this is short? Please just let this TD stand haha
they can talk, but HUrts was over the line before anyone touched the tush
If Hurt's isn't getting assisted over the goal line then the entire OLINE is moving before the ball even moves, like they showed last week.
You literally don’t know what you are talking about. No one moved before the ball was snapped. No one pushed hurts over the line, he scored before any surge. You should go away and find a new hobby. You are not good at this one.
Dude is still sore his team lost and was reminded how avg Jordan Love is and overpaying him last week
Jordan Love: 13/24, 174 yds, 2 TDs

Jalen Hurts: 14/28, 135 yards, 0 TDs

You should probably sit this one out. Any talk of "average QB" from an Eagles fan should be met with laughter.

Jordan Love - L
Jalen Hurts - W

That's the only stat that matters.

Not when Eagles fans are bringing up "average QB" - that involves stats.

However, I expect Eagles fans to move goalposts at their convenience - which is happening here with your post.

I'd also like to point out that Jordan Love and the Packers won this weekend too. So Love would also get the "W".

JB did in fact suspend the poster as I was reading the actual thread when this was happening...but i chalk that up to a few too many beers in the Sunday Game thread, it happens
But that's not an indictment on Herb, I can understand why people get tired of the Santa story, I grew up in Miam/FtLaud and getting in and out of the Orange Bowl in the 70s was challenging
There are fans like the ones in these legendary stories in almost every stadium

You get 70,000 of your closest friends together aand there's going to be a few weirdos and crazies, just look at this place

OK Lions fans....win your division, play a home game and we'll see you in January. Beat us then most of us will root for you in the bigger one

The problem for the Lions is Goff has zero mobility and their offensive line isn't good enough in protection so it throws everything off for them. So when you look at the teams in the NFC that Detroit will have to face in the playoff: Seattle, LA Rams, Green Bay, and Philly. They all have good defensive lines. That doesn't even factor in getting Goff outdoors, in January. Forget about it, I just don't see any path for them to get to the Super Bowl. Eventually, they're going to run into a team in the playoffs where their offense is held down and I don't see them winning a 16-13 type of game.

I wish my team had a top GM like Roseman who identifies the issue and addresses it with quality moves.

That D is nasty
Gave up a 3rd round pick for that guy. Ridiculous. He’s like the guy in my fantasy baseball league who keeps fleecing the bottom feeders over and over and over. Maybe he’s a charming guy or something.
He's the guy in your league that keeps throwing trades out there and occasionally makes a really good one that everyone remembers. No one remembers that 3rd for Golden Tate or the 4&6 for Kevin Byard or 4th for Robert Quinn or 4th for Genard Avery.

But when you hit (3rd for Phillips or a 4th for Jay Ajayi in 2017) it looks real good. Maybe the lesson is trade with Miami in season.

His draft really set that D up.

2022: Jordan Davis, Nakobe Dean
2023: Jalen Carter, Nolan Smith, Moro Ojomo
2024: Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean, Jalyx Hunt
2025: Jihaad Campbell, Andrew Makuba

They have the youngest defense in the league.

I think the lesson is from Sam Hinkie. You know you're going to swing and miss so take as many swings as you can.

FTR: I mentioned multiple times in this thread that the Philadelphia defense played outstanding and nothing should be taken away from them

But...we have this issue that popped up late and unfortunately makes fans think of other games in recent 7years with the evolution of DPI calls, head shots or perceived head shots that result in personal foul calls, etc...

-I'm just saying it's not made up by Sharks around here that are NOT Philly fans, this isn't Philly fans vs the Shark Pool, it's much bigger than any of us around here

Seems like every week I say this . . . complaining about refs is a loser mentality. When the officiating calls for subjectivity, you get an unevenness in the enforcement.

There are only a couple of GMs who are clued in. Howie is juxtaposed against a guy like Brett Veach, who might be the worst GM in recent memory given some of his decisions. It’s not a market of sharks.
