His college (NCAA D3) plays a JV schedule. So his conference participates. They usually play a 5-7 game schedule depending on the year.who schedules a college game on NFL kickoff Sunday?Hey, man, Congrats to him (and you)! I can’t even imagine how proud you must be!First full game I’ve watched today.
Kicker son had a college football game today. Showed up and turns out he was the punter today (never punted in his life). Did an admirable job and made his one and only extra point.
Bombed some 45 yarders in warm ups. Didn’t try any longer than that.
Considering he had to redshirt last year due to pneumonia, a great day. 65 and sunny in Wisconsin. A perfect day .
When we visited the school originally two years ago, his head coach promised that when your kid comes here, they will play college football. So every kid on the roster gets to play in every JV game. Some kids play more than others of course.
The varsity team takes the best kids of course, and you have a chance to move up if you perform. So its cool because parents pay a lot of money for college and they get a chance to see their kids at least play.
Most schools at this level take pretty much anyone that can afford to pay tuition. With no chance of ever seeing the field.
This coaching staff is amazing and really cares about the kids. And the college is a winning program historically. It’s a pretty neat deal. Last year when my son was a freshman and got sick, we heard from the programs head coach and special teams coach every day just checking on him. And the head coach was directly involved with the academic team to make sure he had opportunity to do his work remotely from our house while he recovered.
An amazing program and school.
