And I get it, a message board forum is pretty much built on posting opinions.

But I think that "example" thing is a big deal. I want to do better there.

I sure could do a better job of leading by better example in a few aspects of my life.

We shall be known by our deeds more than our words. I’ll be the first to say that I’ve failed in both aspects at some point in my life, but I’m thankful that God is in the forgiving business.

I don't think you have to be fake to do unto others as you would want them to do to you. Do I want others to dismiss my opinion without even trying to understand my point of view?  Do I want others to disrespect what I'm saying or call me dumb for thinking it?  Do I want others to respond to me with nothing but snark and whataboutisms?  Likely the answer is no, so I should work to not do those things myself.  Ultimately, we get what we give.

No.  They're perfectly free to despise me and let it be known.  If there's no way to reconcile that, then we're best to ignore each other.  What real world example are you considering when asking that question?

Sure.  I guess I struggle to see how that contradicts Joe's premise.
