Sunday Ticket '23: YouTube TV signs deal. Stand alone option available (1 Viewer)

Too expensive. I’ll wait a year or two when they start offering deals like Direct TV. I also hear you can’t bounce game to game easily, I don’t think.

You can. Change the channel like any other provider. And sadly I don't think the deal is ever getting any better
My stepson said because of streaming it isn’t easy going from game to game. Do you have YouTube TV?
I have YouTube TV. You can’t jump back and forth between two channels. But if you are on one game you can click back out to the main guide and scroll down to the game you want. I hear at one point YouTube TV was going to add the jump back and forth feature but I haven’t seen it yet.
So it’s true, it is a hassle. Like switching from Prime to Netflix.

It's not that bad. Try it for free for a month. It's great

No, not close to that. When watching something, you just click the down arrow and it shows all the channels you recently were on, as well as the ability to scroll to any other channel. Boone is just saying that there is no direct “jump back” button like there are on most cable systems. It’s way closer to cable than switching from Netflix to prime.
This is a big "worry" for me. I have two TV's in the same room and am able to program the remote to operate the different DTV boxes so I can scroll through games without affecting the other TV. I worry this will go away and be a big Pain in the A$$ with everything going through the TV streaming situation. It's one of the big obstacles I am trying to sort through.

I think I have it solved as I was able to program two separate remotes to operate each individual TV so I think that will be ok but not ideal as instead of having one remote operating everything I will now need two.

Are they both smart TVs? In my house I have 2 smart TVs and 2 not. The two that aren't (the ones I move to the living room on Sundays) I use the GoogleTV remote/receiver. They automatically operate on separate remotes (or from my phone), so that will solve that particular problem for me. I actually like the UX on these TVs better than my smart TVs.

They are identical smart LG TV's. I was able to set up the remotes so each TV has their own remote. It seems to work ok. I just liked having a single remote that I could use for everything. It was the older DTV remote that had the toggle switch at the top programmed to work each box separately. Now I will have to get used to having two remotes.

I see. Do you really change them both often? For me, I've had 3 TVs on Sundays, but the main one almost never changed, so I just have a remote on the right of me and one on the left to flip around. I suspect you'll get used to it pretty quick.

My biggest concern is that there's no 'back' button to just toggle back to the previous 'channel'. I've heard YTTV has has some custom on-screen navigation features, but not sure what is true. That would certainly be nice to have something like DTV's mega-channel, or whatever it was called, where it had 8 different games on screen at once, but with the ability to navigate directly to one of them, then bounce back to the mega-cast after seeing what you wanted to see.

On football Sundays I do when it's not the time slot for the Vikings. If they are on, they are one TV and jump around the other one as needed. The other time slot (when they aren't playing) I am jumping both around as games heat up or get boring/commercials/etc

The back button is a godsend. That is definitely another worry with YTTV

I am unsure of the exact verbage in YouTube's Ticket deal, but just a reminder to those that aren't avid users: Netflix killed sharing log-in accounts in the US recently. It happened in other countries a while back. And all the streaming services will be following suit here soon. They do not need to let you know, and you're only real option is to get separate accounts for separate living places, cancel, or be reasonably tech savvy and run a static IP through a VPN (which they are also getting wise to and blocking users trying to use this work around). It "sounds" like you can currently share YouTube accounts with people who don't live at the same address (really it has to do with your internet connection points like I noted above), note it can be taken away at any point in time with no real recourse. Now that people are hooked on streaming services, they are starting the wave of raising prices, and will soon lock them to individual users to continue increasing profits. This year may be fine, but I would be very surprised if by next year you could pay for one YouTube Sunday ticket and watch it in two separate locations (unless under the same roof with the same internet connection).

Just wanted to let everyone know that YouTube will now be offering unlimited streams at home. Originally they were going to limit it to two.

YouTube Sunday Ticket streams

Great news.... more info from Youtube from that string of tweets:

....we look at signals like your network & specified home location to determine your “home” you’ll get unlimited streams when watching NFL Sunday Ticket on your home network & 2 streams outside of your home for you & your household!!....

So 3 streams on different IPs, and unlimited under same. that is great

I hope they do better than the $100 off they had a while back right before the season starts. If they are smart they will offer that or better. I'll be watching...possibly jumping in but sucks being spoiled to free Sunday Ticket the last 2 decades almost...

It's never going to be free again man.

It's free online, but definitely not as user friendly. And will also suffer from the occasional buffering or needed refresh. It all comes down to how much you're willing to pay money wise vs. frustration wise. Some Sundays I'm able to watch for 8-9 hours with 0 issues. Some Sundays I'll have to refresh my browser every hour or so, or deal with some spotty buffering points. Some I'll say f it and just go watch at the local watering hole. I can understand a lot of people think it's worth $350+ to not have to deal with that though.

I have never been able to get a reliable stream that looked good to work for very long. I'm jealous

nflbite.to give it a shot if you get stuck this upcoming season. Multiple mirrors available. Normally the first one or two don't work great for me (as that's where the majority of traffic will go). And some of the mirrors you have to close 2-3 pop-ups until it loads. But normally the RZ streams have been super reliable for me as well as Sunday games. The night games tend to be a bit hairy with all the increased traffic, but I have enough streaming services at this point I can usually watch them directly on a streaming supplier.

thanks buddy i already made my donation to youtube tv for this season. but might try it next year

I've never paid for Sunday Ticket, and I don't plan to this year either. I made the call every year and was never denied getting the package for free from DTV.

I stream on my Firestick, have Kodi, and a VPN. What are my best options to continue to get games for free?

I don't think there is that option anymore, but I'm all ears....

You can stream some unreliable feeds over some shady channels but that's about it

I’m trying to compare options. Hopefully users here can help fill in the missing prices.

** ST plus RZ as YT subscriber: $339
** ST, non YT subscriber: ???
** ST plus RZ, non YT subscriber: ???
** RZ on a sports pack DIRECTV: $14/month (3 mo free, new subs)
** RZ on a sports pack Dish Network: ??? Per month

RZ on DTV is $13.99/month with the expanded Sports Pak (40 channels), unless you are a new customer, then it’s free for 3 months.

Thanks, is that free for new sports pack subscribers? Or just for those brand new to DTV? I have DTV now but not sports pack.

Pretty sure the ST for non-subscribers is +100

Okay, so I go to Arizona on Nov. 1st from ND. I have paid for the NFL & presumably have been watching for 2 months in ND. So no problem signing in and watching NFL on youtube in AZ?

Verizon has a new promotion that includes FREE Sunday Tickety on youtube TV for new mobile customers, new home internet customers, or existing mobile customers when you upgrade to unlimited plus plan. Only thing that sucks is if you have a business plan this isn't available.

does anyone know a phone number to get a person for youtubeTV? I swear I can't find a number anywhere

This. They overcharged us and I want to find out how to work the thing. Only thing is, I don't think they have a number to reach. Seems like this will all be email-based, which is gonna be a disaster in about one month.

From what I can gather Hulu Live is the lowest price package to include the usual basic channels, local TV,NFL Redzone, NFL Network, ESPN - basically all channels to watch the NFL games other than Prime. Does this sound correct, anything better?

I'm old and finally cutting my traditional cable after the latest price hike. I'm a thorough guy and have narrowed it down to Sling and Hulu. Both seem to be similar cost to add red zone. Today I'm leaning on adding Sling. Orange and Blue option for 55 a month with sports package at 10 bucks a month. That includea Red Zone. 65 a month is half of what Spectrum cable will went up to. Hulu is 70 bucks a month with 10 more bucks a month for Red zone. Hulu comes with a lot more for only the 15 buck difference.

That's what I've read. I just moved to Georgia so for me I can live without local stuff. I got my phone and co workers for that.

Depends on where you live. Where I live I get fox and nbc locals. Both have games on Sunday. I then get red zone with sling too, with an optional add on sports package. Nfl network also with base package.

Link

You can only watch the local channels of where you currently are. They use your device’s location data to verify.

VPNs may be a way around it, but they’re not always a guarantee.

I was never able to get the vpn to work for youtubetv, I don’t think. I did get it to work for sling sometimes.

Looking up the price plans I think I'm just going to do stop watching football. 6 hours of television 18 times a year costs how much? I can use my antenna to watch my team I guess but I'm not going to start paying for cable again and get less than I got before I cut the cable.

For those that have YoutubeTV and NFL Sunday Ticket do you know how/where the multi-view game options will appear? We don't have YouTubeTV so purchased the standalone NFL Sunday Ticket. I can see the individual NFL games as upcoming (wonder when the feed goes live) but I don't see multi-view and I believe that is available if you purchased the standalone option. I have to get multiple TVs setup in the house this morning so trying to get a jump on things.

Find multiviews

Pre-set multiviews are groups of up to four live games that are displayed together as a single stream.

The quickest way to find the multiview for a select combination of games is to:

  1. Start watching one of the games you want to watch.
  2. Press down to see multiview combinations.
  3. Select your preferred game combination.
Multiviews may appear on your streaming device or smart TV's YouTube app, including on the Home ttrJyn2np6K4OsAh0oPkKMv4VVErGF4ciOZlF77a-IpNzo=w24.png tab under “Recommended multiviews” and in Watch Next recommendations when you are watching live games. You can also find them on a Primetime Channel’s homepage where multiviews are available, such as the NFL or WNBA channels.

Watch & navigate multiviews

Choose a multiview to watch and the included games will open on your screen. The left or top-left stream will be highlighted by default, and the audio from that stream will be played.

Here are some more tips for how to navigate multiviews:

  • To change the audio, use the directional pad on your remote to highlight a different stream.
  • To access the captions and audio track on your multiview, press down until you reach the player controls to toggle captions or audio track
  • To view the selected stream in full screen, press Select on your remote.
  • To return to the multiview, press Back on your remote.

You complain about prices for this awesomeness, you don't deserve it.
