Super Bowl dead zone (1 Viewer)

As a football fan, this is the most deadly time of year for me. Once the Super Bowl is set we have to listen to two weeks of analysis of these two teams, and every back story about every player participating. We will hear from every relative of the Harbaughs, every neighbor, every childhood friend, everyone who has even seen them from a distance. I hate the two weeks before the Super Bowl. I normally listen to the NFL network on my satellite radio, but I can't for these next two weeks, and probably for a week after the Super Bowl. I hate the Super Bowl halftime show. I hate all the hoopla around the Super Bowl. I just want to watch the game. Let's forget all the hype and get to the game. Anyone else feel that way?

I go to a big Super Bowl party every year where people that are watching for the commercials outnumber people that watch the game. It's like those of us watching the game are freaks or something.

Then don't go to a social event and stay at home and watch the game.

Yes, I liked it when there was only one week off.
I am definitely with you. One week would be much better. It will probably never change, but I would like that a lot more.
I agree about the wait, but I think the SB has become such a big media & social event that they can't get it all organized in one week. I know players have commented that 2 weeks is much better than one to prepare. Media commitments, family, etc.

I did that for the Steeler/Cards game a few years ago. I wanted to murder people who wouldn't shut the F up about nonsens while that game was comi g down to such a great finish.Never again.I stay home by myself or only invite like-minded people.

This is selfishly why I would like a 18 game season with 2 bye weeks and maybe (haven't done the math) 8 divisions with all first seeds getting a bye in the playoffs. Add like 3 weeks to the overall season. We can put the combine in the week between championship Sunday and the Super Bowl. Draft like six weeks later. 2 week Pre Season starts six after that. Week off. Season starts. Again. Selfishly. Keeps me interested all the time.

Am I the only one who doesnt even care about this Superbowl? I don't like either team & know I will be disappointed no matter the outcome because the game cant end in a draw

No, we don't.
I hate the two weeks before the Super Bowl.
So do I.
I hate the Super Bowl halftime show.

I just want to watch the game.
Same here.

Yes!

I always preferred the one week off vs. the two weeks. I know there may be key players needing the rest for the quality of the game but it causes too much lull and silly efforts of people trying to spin a new story.I like both the teams in the SB but BOY! I REALLY did not want to see these two face each other because of the Brother vs. Brother crap we will hear, ad naseum. In the next two weeks, we will hear every brotherly competition they have ever faced off in, every scenario where they were ever vying for the same thing. Takes away from it, I think. I know, we have the option to simply not listen but you kinda would like to listen to it leading up because there ARE some good backdrop stories to listen to.I DO want to watch one or two Randy Moss highlight reels as they chronicle his pursuit of his first championship. I DO want to see the story of Patrick Willis getting here, from where he came. I Do want to see one or two reviews of what shaped each of the head coaches paths to be here, because it is a heck of an accomplishment.I DO want to see ONE interview with Jack and let him talk about how proud he is of his sons.I just don't want it ad naseum to where I'm dull to it.

The problem is that the interesting stories get buried by fluff. I think the fluff is for all the casual fans who now pay attention to football because the Super Bowl is coming. These are the people who are excited about the halftime show, and all the commercials. The Super Bowl gets hijacked by the casual fans to some degree.

Bye weeks. Bronko Nagurski didn't get no bye weeks, and now he's dead! Well... maybe they're a good thing.

The NHL should schedule their Winter Classic to be played the weekend between the NFL Championship Games and the Super Bowl, i.e., this coming Sunday ( screw the Pro Bowl). forget about the WC on New Year's day, there's too many college bowl games to watch..
