I'm going to be watching closely. Every year there are a few un-drafted gems. We need to know who's coming available and whether they are worth an add once they're drafted.

I'll start the list:

Terrelle Pryor QB Ohio State

6'5", 240, 4.54-40

Is he eligible? Last I heard that was still in doubt.yep, still in doubthttp://www.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/22475988/31196217
Yea, it's hard to tell at this point who exactly will be available. Only speculation so far. For now I'd like to list anyone rumored to be perusing the supplemental draft.

Why is it so hard for the NFL to just make a call on this? Just not a priority for them? Someone with TP hate whispering in Goodell's ear? What's the hold up? I got a 2QB dynasty draft going right now and if he's eligible I wanna take him with my next pick.

The guy drafting right after you is whispering in Godell's ear to wait until you pick so he can take TP.

Herron is returning to play at OSU, so you can take him off your list.

Kinda hypocritical that we are welcoming the other 4 accused Tattoo-ees back with open arms while throwing Pryor to the wind, but that is what they are doing, apparently.

I always hate when Berman spoils the picks in the supplemental draft. "ooh, I think the Broncos are gonna PASS on Pryor here"...

i knew it

Just tweeted

NFL sent memo to all teams on eligible players for Supplemental Draft- Pryor from Ohio State is NOT on the list. Caleb King from Georgia is

This could change

I think he should be ineligible why make a special exemption for him? Should have just declared when everyone else did and not fake like he was going to serve his suspension.....

yeah, not looking likely at this point. I think people are just saying "hey, it could still happen" but it's not like new details are emerging or anything. The NFL had all the info it needed to make a call and he's not on it.

wtf nfl? Even I think this is piling on a little... :lmao: that you have to be kicked off your team, rather than doing the more honorable thing and in essence taking the blame and suspending yourself. What a nice precedent to set :lmao:

vey interesting read on supp drafts here

Supplemental Draft

Since 1977, the NFL has also held a Supplemental Draft to accommodate players who did not enter the regular draft. Players generally enter the Supplementary Draft because they missed the filing deadline for the NFL Draft or because issues developed which affected their eligibility (such as athletic or disciplinary matters). The draft is scheduled to occur at some point after the regular draft and before the start of the next season. In 2009, the Supplemental Draft occurred on July 16. In 1984 the NFL held an additional draft for players who were under contract with either USFL or CFL teams.

Draft order is determined by a weighted system that is divided into three groupings. First come the teams that had six or fewer wins last season, followed by non-playoff teams that had more than six wins, followed by the 12 playoff teams. In the supplemental draft, a team is not required to use any picks. Instead, if a team wants a player in the supplemental draft, they submit a "bid" to the Commissioner with the round they would pick that player. If no other team places a bid on that player at an earlier spot, the team is awarded the player and has to give up an equivalent pick in the following year's draft.[3] (For example, FS Paul Oliver was taken by the San Diego Chargers in the fourth round of the Supplemental Draft in 2007; thus, in the 2008 NFL Draft, the Chargers forfeited a fourth-round pick.)

The 1985 Supplemental Draft was particularly controversial. Quarterback Bernie Kosar who had led University of Miami to its first National Championship in 1984 was earning his academic degree as a junior. Rather than finish his eligibility at Miami he wanted to turn pro. At this time college players had to wait for their class unless they themselves graduated early.

A plan was devised by football agent AJ Faigin[4] that was to get him to his preferred team, the Cleveland Browns. Faigin was representing former U of Miami QB and future Hall of Famer, Jim Kelly, then in the USFL, but whose NFL rights were held by the Buffalo Bills. The USFL was in its last days and Kelly would soon be available to the Bills. AJ Faigin's first step was to ask Bill Polian, the GM of Buffalo, if he would be willing to trade the number one Supplemental pick (worth next to nothing at that time) to Cleveland. Polian agreed and Faigin told the Cleveland Browns a trade was available. He next notified Kosar's father he should not formally submit his son's application for the standard NFL draft that was weeks away and declare only afterward; which would put him into the Supplemental Draft.

The result of Kosar’s withdrawal resulted in rare open warfare among NFL teams played out in the newspapers with threats of lawsuits between them, notably the Minnesota Vikings and New York Giants, who had expressed interest in choosing him in that season's regular draft. But as no rules were broken the Giants and eventually Minnesota had to back down. Kosar went on to lead Cleveland to five playoffs and three AFC Championship games. Following that season, the NFL instituted the current semi-random supplemental draft order.

The strategy devised by A.J. Faigin, to not declare for the NFL until after the regular draft, was subsequently used by other top players for various reasons. In some cases, it was because they did not want to play for the team that would have drafted them in the regular draft. For example, Brian Bosworth did not declare because he did not want to play for the Indianapolis Colts or the Buffalo Bills, the teams who drafted second and third that year. The Colts had offered him a 4 year, $2.2 million deal before the draft.[5] The Seattle Seahawks won the right to draft first in the supplemental draft, and later signed him to a 10 year, $11 million contract.[6] At the time that was the largest rookie contract in NFL history.

As of the 1990 season, only players who had graduated or exhausted their college eligibility were made available for the supplemental draft. Since 1993, only players who had planned to attend college but for various reasons could not have been included in the supplemental draft.

It is pretty crappy. You'd also think the NFL would want to avoid any participation in another lawsuit, which I'd bet the Pryor camp would file if he were denied the opportunity to enter the draft. It's not a very bright PR move by the NFL.

Pryor's draft situation, in my opinion, is like Mike Vick coming back from prison prior to Eagles signing him. I don't think a single team was willing to give a draft pick to Atlanta for Vick. The Ryan Mallet situation also is similar. Opinions change quickly in the NFL especially if Pryor proves he can play.

Some smart team could grab Pryor in the supplemental draft and before long he will be a hot commodity. I wonder if New England or Philly makes a move even with 3 QBs already on the roster.

Glad this selfish jackarse was able to hold up the draft for guys like Michael McAdoo and Caleb King that just want to hurry up and get into a camp.

That's wierd. The NFL is enforcing NCAA violations now. Much better for Pryor than being denied but still wierd. Imagine if they'd have suspended guys like Reggie Bush who were busted after turning pro. Pryor was obviously busted beforehand. Still the first time I've heard of the NFL enforcing a college suspension.

I think this is in reaction to The U announcement made recently that it has been a semi-pro school for the entire milennium. There's a lot of talk about the NFL cooperating with the NCAA to enforce punishments, but this does set a dangerous and very loosely enforced precedent.

Goodel IMHO is a complete idiot and an absolute disaster as NFL Commish. He should be replaced as quickly as a suitable replacement can be found. His reactions have that particular DC knee-jerk style to them and he's essentially just making up rules according to which ever way the wind is blowing at the moment.

I think he's bad for the NFL and though I view the sport as simply too entertaining and popular to be hurt by an executive, he certainly isn't doing the game any favors.

No kidding. If Goodell believes that Pryor intentionally manipulated the system to cause himself to be ineligible in the NCAA in order to qualify for the Supplemental Draft, he should simply prohibit him from entering the Supplemental Draft. The NFLPA and/or Pryor's lawyers are going to throw a fit over this and have a VERY good case in court. He hasn't violated any NFL rule that I can tell. If he's eligible for the Supplemental Draft he should be able to play in the NFL free and clear. What an idiotic ruling.

I disagree I like Goodell and think he is doing an excellent job. Kudos to Goodell for suspending Pryor for the first five games of the season. Pryor made a commitment to Ohio State before last years Bowl game that if he was allowed to play he would stay in school and be suspneded the first five games of the season. Instead when the heat from his indiscrestions got to hot for him he quit and ran to the NFL. Give them hell Goodell.

Do we have details yet? Maybe this was the compromise worked out between the league and Pryor's people for allowing him to qualify for the supplemental draft?

You are smoking something. He made that commitment to Jim Tressel, as he would be coming back as the starting QB in game 6. Once Tressel, his only supporter, was gone, the new coaches were having none of him or his distractions on their team. He did not have the OPTION to come back to serve his suspension. While I hate this guy for doing what he did to our program, this is just a petty ruling by Goodell.

Why on earth should the NFL be enforcing any punishment based on violations of rules that are not their own and have nothing to do with their league. It would be like being tried for breaking another country's law (not on US books) in the US. Ridiculous and more evidence of why he should be removed.

Aren't King and McAdoo completely ineligible this year in college? If so, will Goodell make them sit out the year? It really is a stupid ruling by the NFL. But, in the end, it has absolutely no effect on Pryor. At this point, he wasn't going to play the 1st five games anyway.

No. It's OK to be ineligible. In fact, the whole point of the supplemental draft is to allow ineligible players to get into the NFL. But you have to show the NFL that your situation changed AFTER the regular NFL draft. In King's case, he wasn't declared ineligible until after the draft. In McAdoo's case, there was a court ruling in June that ended his eligibility hopes. Both of those players WANTED to play college football in 2011.But in Pryor's case, there wasn't much that changed after the NFL draft. Goodell could have easily ruled against Pryor and made him wait until 2012. But he basically compromised and said "OK....we'll let you enter the supplemental draft....but only if you sit out the first 5 games." And of course Pryor took the deal because he doesn't have too many other options.

It's decision time on Pryor for teams

Finally, Terrelle Pryor is eligible for the supplemental draft.

The NFL announced the draft will be held Monday. After struggling to a make a decision, the league appears to have made a compromise. It will let Pryor in the league, but he can’t practice or play for the first five weeks of the season.

That’s another reason for teams to be leery of Pryor. He is a project who will need a lot of work. Having him essentially miss a third of the season makes the idea of taking him less appealing. His rookie year will basically be a wash.

I wouldn’t use anything higher than a fifth-round draft pick on him. Why this is relevant to the AFC West?

In the next four days, I expect you will be hearing his name often connected to Oakland. It has already been happening for months. Many national analysts have speculated the Raiders could take him, and the Oakland Tribune has beaten the drum for Oakland to take him.

The Raiders could surely use a young quarterback and Pryor is supremely athletic, which could attract owner Al Davis.

But the Raiders don’t have a second- or fourth-round pick next year, so they could stay away. But don’t discount this caveat: Oakland will likely get two third-round compensatory picks for the losses of Nnamdi Asomugha and Zach Miller. It should also get a decent comp pick for the loss of Robert Gallery.

Those choices can’t be used on Pryor, but they do give the Raiders some wiggle room if they want to play loose with a pick now.

I think Pryor will take a long time to develop, and I wouldn’t spend too much in the form of both compensation and time on him this year, but now that he is in the draft, we will be watching closely Monday to see if he ends up in the division.

However, I don’t see any of the other teams in the division looking at him. I could see Denver potentially working him out because it worked out all of the big-name quarterbacks this year. I’d be surprised, however, if the Broncos took him.

Basically you have Seattle, Washington, Oakland, and Miami all looking for an answer at QB. I don't see how none of these teams hazard a 4th on him.

He won't help anyone this year, but these teams really don't have a plan in place for 2012. Especially Washington and Miami.

I'm lost on the whole Pryor thing. I think he got screwed, and hypocricy runs deep in the NFL. Why would they suspend him and not a guy like Carrol? Or let Tressel work with the Browns?
