Survivor Season 48 -David was just joking with his season long death stares! (2 Viewers)

Has anyone else noticed that Sue is the only one that looks dirty? Seems like everyone else at least cleans their face. Maybe it's part of her trying to pull off being 45.
I think the dirty look is a mixture of her tan and her mascara smearing on her face. I don't mean that mean, but that's my guess of what is creating the dirt face look.

but seems pretty confident he'll be back for Season 50 with his comments at the torch and then after the show. I liked him but no so sure about that.
Yeah, I liked Jeff's cold "It's time for you to go" as he turned around and not even reacting.
On his podcast he said he likes to hear that sort of thing from contestants because it shows they are passionate about the game. But he did not make any promises about Gabe.

So it feels like a Rachel victory. Other smattered thoughts:

I really don't want Caroline to win. She's the first person I personally know AND do not particularly like who has been on the show. She's got this wildly obnoxious everyone be happy with everyone and I'm so nice personality thing IRL that is just suuuuuuuper grating. There was a scene where she said something like how excited she was to collaborate together in this episode and I was like "omg that's so Bain and so Kellogg and so Caroline I want to throw up." My wife laughed.

If Kyle just won every challenge to the end, regardless of what you think of his social game, you have to give him the money right? Like the most perfect game ever would be never being eligible to be voted out right? Idk. I think it's weird how little respect the current generation gives people who can actually win a challenge but then at the same time how they're all like "so threatened."

Weird dynamic.

“Toxic positivity” is the description for people like Caroline. But it doesn’t seem to be bothering her castmates.

Juries tend to reward the people they like the best. They just find different justifications to do that. I don’t think Kyle wins many “liked best” comparisons.

Mike from Worlds Apart didn’t win because he challenge beasted his way to the end. He won because he was better liked/respected than the other finalists.

I miss Mike. One of my favorite winners.

Does anyone actually seem to dislike Kyle? It's just Sue really...he's gotta be well liked enough if he's "gotta take him out" threat level or whatever now.

He’s not, though. They would have booted him last week if they were really worried about him.

Why does Gabe think he will be invited back? Don’t recall anything he did that was special or made me think he would be a great contestant to see again.

Don’t like the 1.5 hour episodes, seem to drag out so I’m sure I’m not going to like the upcoming 2 hour episodes (plus it’s making miss The Floor on Fox).

Sue, not sure what’s going on with her lips that they look white half the time. Is it the botax? My wife was asking what’s up with the duck lips, I mentioned she would fit right in at Maralogo

Her lip fillers are degenerating. Leaving what we see

More filler in the 1.5 hour shows.

Just like the 2 hour Datelines that should be an hour if that.

My guess is we're seeing Sue losing weight (water), but her lips aren't losing any mass, so it makes her lips look even more strange than before. Her skin is pulling back from the lips leaving them protruding even more (and it's like the skin immediately around her lips won't tan either so it's very pale). It's quite a look.

Really liked Jury Sol's reaction to learning that everyone gave up their Shot in the Dark for community rice. Another Survivor first.
Also sweet buttoned up vest, no shirt underneath look.
I’m surprised this was not one of the first comments made regarding this episode. All he needed was a cane to complete the “pimp look”.

That’s her Survivor makeup.
A friend of mine asked me tonight if I noticed that Sue's face looks dirty sometimes. I told her I think the whole viewing audience has noticed. She said that a podcast she listens to mentioned that Sue from Survivor had called in and was limited on what she could share, but she said she slept near the fire all the time because she was always freezing at night, and it was soot on her face. There are no mirrors there, and none of her tribe mates bothered to tell her. 😀 If true, I would have told her if I were a tribe mate. I'd tell that woman that she looks like she's been cleaning a chimney.

Did she also not go in the water??
Of course, and her face hasn't always looked dirty. She definitely has had some eye makeup smear and flake. Her face at the last tribal had something blackish smeared on it and the rain was making it run. Anyway, I was just passing on what a friend heard.

The eye makeup thing has been said a coupe of times now. You really don’t believe that Sue brought makeup with her and she does her eyes everyday right?

Yeah, I think she snuck a tube of Maybelline mascara up her ***, and she sneaks off and applies it every day. Seriously though, I suspect she originally had on waterproof mascara or something artificial on her lashes, and it has been making its way off. I think the dirty cheeks and around the lips is probably soot.

Well, that certainly sucked but was not unexpected. What a gracious, authentic exit. I hope Kyle makes it back for Season 50, I'm just not sure if he is exciting enough. Would be interesting to see how he fared in challenges against stiffer competition.

I do think Rachel is getting the winner edit, which I'm good with. She's my now clear favorite that I'm rooting for. It's also looking more likely that both Sue and Andy are being dragged to the final.

  • Rooting to win: Rachel
  • Like the players: I'd be good with Sam or Caroline. Caroline has a much greater chance of making it than Same. Teeny remains here although close to dropping to neutral
  • Neutral - Genevive stays here, and if she somehow won it wouldn't be the worst thing.
  • Don't like - Andy. I do have to give him a sliver of credit for still being in it, but he is being dragged to the end.
  • Can't stand - Sue. I hope she feels great after Kyle gave her an authentic hug and thanked her for being part of the experience. Maybe she learns from it but there's a saying about old dogs and new tricks.

Yep Sue is my next to go. I don’t recall a contest being so bitter towards a contestant over a single vote early on. Could be wrong but it makes her looking like a bitter old lady. Agree with others I think Rachel’s winning this

The formula of the misfits controlling the game is not the best watch for me. Rachel would be my only choice of those in power now. Sue Andy Caroline are awful. Teeny is sweet but has she done anything? I think genivieve is the best player left, but she needs immunity/idol help.

My wife watches every Survivor and used to love it and after last night she said this game has turned so predictable. After Kyle was voted off last night she is getting tired of the same thing every season. Any player that is a threat always has a target no matter what style of game they try to play.

Strong players won`t last, weak players that are zero threat like Sue and others are always carried for their votes and possibly to the end because they haver no chance. Then a few of the weaker middle types control the voting.

The casting tries to bring so many different people together but this is supposed to be reality TV, Sue would not last a minute in real reality..not just picking on Sue because every series has a couple Sue`s.

In earlier Survivors it seems once in awhile the actual best/strongest player in everything did win, that won`t ever happen again.

It happened twice in the old days: Richard Hatch and Tom Westman. And then once later on with Mike Holloway. Otherwise the best survivalists/challenge performers don’t win, and never have. Whoever has the best social game of the two or three people left at the end is almost always who wins.

What? Season 45 the 2 best players finished first and second.

At least the players were memorable for something other than being weird or an utter bump on a log. . I barely know the power group this season. Weirdo Andy, dirty sue utterly bland Caroline, lucky Rachel and who’s the 5th?

Teeny

Full blown Rachel episode.
Kept Vote (wonder if the 2 know the final vote tally to figure out she lied)
Gained Advantage (2 tribals remain)
Got Immunity
Still has Idol (3 tribals remain)

Got biggest target out. Exit speech was quite good and humble.
You have to wonder if this raises her threat level too much. She is well-equipped to deal with it with her idol, vote block and ability to use Genevieve and Sam as shields, but I can’t imagine the other four members of her alliance wanting to sit with her at the end.

We have already seen Caroline saying in previous episodes that she wants Rachel out.

Put me up as another one that thinks the four best players left sealed their date going for Gabe. Kyle, Genevieve, Rachel, and possibly Sam (idk that he's actually particularly good) just get picked off now.

Rachel's game is to be the best of the mediocre. I think she went after "big threats" one tribal too soon. She's in a way better spot if Sue or Caroline is gone.

Teeny, Caroline, Sue seem like clear goats. Andy probably is too.

So Kyle, Sam, Genevieve...turned on Gabe too soon. There's only room for 1-2 goats, so if you've got 4, there's too many of them and they'll kill the good players first.

Oh and Andy finally made the decent point, though I don't entirely follow his logic, that being physically weak and someone being physically strong basically never decides the game and is kind of a dumb reason to vote for someone. On top of which he probably isn't gonna win out.

While this is true, his logic was flawed. His logic percentage only works with all players being equal. When you have one athletic person amongst a group that is quite athletically challenged, the odds change substantially.

Yeah that's why I said I don't entirely follow it. Because not all competitors are likely to win.

Although it isn't about all players being equal. It's about Kyle being equal to the chances of anyone from the entire field.

And on second thought I do think the Kyle vs field estimate or around 50/50 is maybe right. That's like a peak Tiger Woods level of dominance, about as good as it gets, and the 50/50 math does work. For being starved two weeks on an island I think it was solid.

I saw a point made about Andy elsewhere that I think is a good one.

In Cambodia, the edit completely lied to us about Spencer. He was given an arc of "I am learning how to understand emotions and relate to people and become more than a gamebot," but in reality, he still treated everyone like a gamebot would and the cast resented him for it, giving him zero votes at final tribal council. It's quite possible that the edit is lying to us in a similar way about Andy. They are airing all these confessionals purporting to show how he's making moves and forging alliances and has recovered from his early-days meltdown, like David did in Millenials vs. GenX and Aubry did in Kaoh Rong. But none of that matches up with his actual interactions with the cast or with what others say about him. This was most obvious in this week's episode where his math-based argument to boot Genevieve instead of Kyle fell on deaf ears. The situation in reality could well be that he was the first identified goat and is only still in the game because no one respects him and everyone wants to sit at the end with him. He might get Kyle's vote but he won't get anyone else's.

I do think this is happening and tried to allude to it a few weeks ago. I think the producers are putting things together that may not fit to try to give Andy a story arc. I'm guessing Rachel has Genevive in her sights and then Caroline. I think she will try to get him out before Sam.

Do you remember in early Survivors if Jeff questioned everyone, and outed some people for tactics at every Tribl Council? I don`t remember Councils happening the way it has evolved to now.

He has always questioned everyone -- tribals last 1 to 3 hours and we only see a small fraction of what actually happened. I think the casts have gotten savvier about how to tell him something without really saying anything*, so he presses harder than he used to. And of course the introduction of idols in season 11 allowed for a whole different set of topics to be raised at tribal council that hadn't needed to be discussed before.

* - he has been known to get angry when people give evasive answers in a boring way. Obviously these blowups don't make the edit.
