there was a post a while back by someone which showed the amount of solo tackles, assisted tackles, and others given to teams based on home/away and stadium. anyone know where it is, or if it was updated for this year?
it says the data is from 2005, is there any possible way to compare it to 2006 and 2007, if ud like, i wouldnt mind helping if ud tell me wat to do and how u came up with these numbersAaron Rudnicki said:http://forums.footballguys.com/forum/index...howtopic=332835
I haven't posted an update yet, but I'm hoping to do so in early August
I'll let Aaron answer the specific question, but it's worth noting that the advantage you might get with these anomalies has gotten much slimmer. The article summarizing the NFL guidelines is in the can and should be posted early this week. Aaron is working hard to finish his 2007 database and is still targeting a mid-August release date if all goes well.bump
This is very likely because home stat crews know their players better and more easily and correctly spot jersey numbers of their own players versus their opponents.its not scientific, but i've always thought from looking at boxscores that the 'elite' defensvie players see their numbers higher at home. much higher sometimes.
Great article, Jene. Here's my review of some of the disappearing discrepancies among the NFL's unofficial tackle and passes defensed stats and why it's occurring.
Why? I don't see any issue with the first rule. The second just suggests that an assisted tackle (a second defender that materially shortens the duration of a play) really isn't possible when the quarterback slides (usually) to avoid a single defender. Is it just me or are these two rules at odds with each other from a theoretical standpoint? * Award solo tackle if the ballcarrier steps out of bounds to avoid imminent contact with defender. * Do not award assisted tackles on quarterback slides.
So they do award solos on QB slides then? Sorry, I guess I'd assumed that they'd only awarded assists on those before, and were now eliminating even that. Why? Yes, my understanding is that a single solo tackle is what is expected when a play ends with a QB slide. So they do award solos on QB slides then? With the NFL getting more hands on with the stat crews in terms of uniformity and consistency of the league's tackle and pass defensed statistics, I would think we should start to see signs of this evening out.
I always wondered what kind of turnover rate stat crews have?
Very interesting Aaron ... Thanks
