Tatum Bell and Brandon Jackson purgatory (1 Viewer)

I'm wondering what some thoughts are on the interesting situations we have with Brandon Jackson and Tatum Bell on their respective teams. Each player has been named the starter for Game One. But each has a RB breathing down their neck: Morency and Duckett.

Are both these guys actually RBBC situations being disguised by coaches as "starters"?

1. Brandon Jackson is the starter, and Morency hasn't practiced and may not even be a go for Sunday. (he is probably the safer start this week)2. Tatum Bell not only has T.J Duckett stealing some touches this week, he has Kevin Jones lingering to take his spot once he gets into game shape.Neither of these backs will help you win your league, but if I had to pick one for this weekend, I'd say Jackson. If I had my choice....I'd rather not have to choose either of them, but thats the way the cookie crumbles in a message board.

with TJones gimpy Im going with my gut and putting in Brandon Jackson for this week.

I disagree here.... I think Jackson is a skat back, special teamer and Morency will carry the load for GB once healthy.

My comments are solely for week 1. Morency will be the primary starter when healthy and it will be a RBBC scenario, but eventually if Jackson progresses and can handle a larger workload, he will be the feature back I believe. Morency has never shown that he has "feature" ability, and if neither of them emerges as a #1, its a RBBC until they finally sign a F/A in the offseason or draft one next year.

I don't expect either to do much. Both are going to lose some touches to other. If I had to pick one I would go with the rookie Jackson as he has more upside. Jackson didn't have a great preseason, but he is a rookie, and he could show improvement. Bell is a chage of pace back masquerading as featured back.

Nah, Jackson is seen as a potential all-around, every-down type of back. I think it'll be interesting to see how his development goes this year.

THat s why they picked him in the second round but obviously your better at judging talent then the Pack organization.Morency is a superstart in the making .

Well, during week one Bell looked to me like the RB with more potential in FF. The Lions are a passing team, so when they do run, Tater has a shot to catch defenses off guard. The Packer's O-line looked dismal in what I saw. Jackson had nowhere to run.

I didn't see the Lion's game but from looking at the play-by-play it seemed as though Bell got a good chunk of his yards and the TD during garbage time when the Lions had the game locked up. Also, I did see the GB game and Jackson (or more specifically, the GB O-line) certainly did NOT impress me at all. Since I went back and forth all week between which one of these guys to start as my flex, I can say I've now made a decision going forward.......CALVIN JOHNSON! :goodposting:

I agree that Bell got a good chunk and the TD during garbage time. But who's to say that there won't be garbage time regularly if Kitna and the passing game keep rolling?

I'm just afraid that the "garbage time" the Lion's will most likely see in the future will be the kind in which they are BEHIND by 2-3 TDs late in the game. After all, they don't get to play my beloved (and currently putrid) Raiders every week....
