TE Dallas Goedert, PHI (1 Viewer)

I couldn't recall either. I just double checked and apparently it was a HAS and a cracked tibia.

I'm really torn on what to do with him. In the league where I have him I'm an underdog so may flex him for the upside (TE premium). But I'd be (pleasantly) surprised if he came off this injury and produced immediately.
Thanks, I guess it can be both haha.

With the HAS I'm not starting very confidently.

Keep going back and forth with he and Fant.  With Patrick iffy for Denver...may be the only reason Im leaning maybe less risk averse and Fant.  More of a need to see it with Goedert (and likely already relying on Fulgham for Philly)

I have the same decision. The nice thing is both are later games so I can see how my matchup is looking and if I need the upside (Goedert).

I am leaning Goedert regardless though, since he could be healthier than Fant at this point. Fant seems to be playing through his HAS instead of resting it. He was on one leg out there last week and shouldn't have been playing.

Well, it looks like he is active.  Sat Fant, have Rodgers, but going with Goedert.  Need some help tonight.

If I need a 8 Pts from Goedert or  Fulgham what's my best bet? Standard scoring.

Seems like he is just a decoy. Wentz not even looking at him. He has 1 target that wasn't even catchable along the left sideline

Quick edit: He got a catch!

Looks like they are calling plays that last drive that dial him up... could have a couple more catches in the 4th 🤞

One target, 15 yards. Yikes. He seemed to be out there a lot, but looked like more of a decoy after all. Still like him a lot down the stretch. Hopefully he heals up further over the bye week and comes back strong to close out the year. Plenty of nice matchups on the schedule.

Yep he got through the week without reinjury.  All we could ask for.  Got his legs under him and now gets 2 weeks off.  Dial him up ROS, and think he probably still gets a game or two without Ertz in there.

Dallas Goedert caught one pass for 15 yards in Week 8 against Dallas.

Goedert's only catch didn’t come until the third quarter. He may not have been fully healthy after returning from IR this week. Goedert will have the Eagles' Week 9 bye to rest up.

OR...  OR (hear me out here) Wentz played horrendously bad against the worst defense in the league. Actually why not both?

It's also possible that Wentz finally seems to have some decent weapons at the WR position and may not need to lean on his TEs as much as he used to. Seems like Kittle is facing similar issues.

Kittle, Pettis and Coleman got hurt; McKinnon has "dead legs" and the only Niners WRs left were Aiyuk, Bourne, and Trent Taylor BTW.

Goedert played 84% of the TE snaps (54/64) while Rodgers only played 17%. So they definitely were playing a lot more 3 WR sets than 2 TE due to the WRs getting healthy, you wonder if that reverts back when Ertz is healthy. But back to Wentz, he was chucking into double coverage and not going through reads vs. Dallas... he's out of whack and hopefully Pederson uses the Bye to tweak him and the offense.

That's the point - Kittle isn't being targeted as much due to the emergence of Aiyuk, and that's with Deebo out. But that's for the Kittle thread and is worth discussing there.

Rotoworld:

Eagles TE Dallas Goedert ran a route on 84.8 percent of Carson Wentz's drop backs in Week 8 against the Cowboys.

His involvement upon coming back from an ankle injury didn't result in much production -- he managed one reception for 15 yards against Dallas. Goedert played 84.3 percent of the team's offensive snaps in Week 8. He ran 11 routes from the slot. If Zach Ertz is still out after the Eagles' Week 9 bye, Goedert should be regarded as a TE1 option.

So how do we really see Goedert moving forward?  As well as how does him being back possibly affect someone like Fulgham?

Dallas Goedert caught 4-of-6 targets for 33 yards in the Eagles' Week 10 loss to the Giants.

Goedert's 16% target share was a slight disappointment coming out of the bye, but the real culprit is Carson Wentz's lack of accuracy. There's no excuse for Wentz to play this out of rhythm now that the offense is getting healthier. Goedert has the skills to provide top-eight TE1 production if he can earn a few more targets next week against the Browns.

Richard Rodgers caught 4-of-5 targets for 60 yards in the Eagles' Week 10 loss to the Giants.

In a damning development for the entire Eagles franchise, Rodgers was the team's leading pass catcher in Week 10. Rodgers ran 11 pass routes to Dallas Goedert's 33 routes against the Giants. Goedert out-targeted Rodgers but had just 33 yards. Fantasy players should only roster Rodgers as a fringe starting option in tight end premium leagues.
I'm sorry I know this technically has nothing to do with Dallas but I had to post this... how does Rodgers get more accurate balls thrown to him than Goedert? It wasn't like Giants covered Goedert any better than Rodgers either. 😆

I'm so tired of hearing how good Goedert should be, and how he would be a top-5 TE if he ever got the opportunity.  It seems like all this guy does is disappoint, due mainly to the narrative all fantasy experts have surrounded him with.

This is where good analysis comes in. Is Goedert disappointing because of his own play, or due to outside factors? Well we have a two game sample this year of him doing very well with Zach Ertz, then he got hurt in Game 3. He came back last week to minimal targets and the narrative was that maybe he was still hurt? That was quickly dispelled by the fact he played over 84% of the snaps and never checked into the trainers' booth once. This game he was 4/6 for 33, but they were all manner of off throws including a wide open look down the field that Wentz threw high in a somewhat clean pocket. If you want to find out what the reason is, look no further than Carson Wentz's regression in terms of accuracy/decision-making. His On Target % is only 63.1% (worst in the division, worst in his career) and his Bad Throw % is 17.8% (worst in the division, worst in his career), and it's affecting most of their pass-catchers. Plus, his tendency to heroball throws deep can kill drives and deny opportunities to players open on shorter routes.

Basically, until Carson Wentz and the O as a whole get in sync, it'll be hard for Goedert to show his true ability.

It's partly Wentz fault and partly Doug's fault. Goedert had the 8 yard hook open all day but Carson only gave it to him 3 times. He could have had that play at least 10 times but Doug and by extension Carson rarely run the same play more than 1 or 2 times even if it's killing the opposing defense. It's so damn frustrating. I don't understand how they could be 0-10 on third downs and only throw it to Goedert once on those plays (the high ball off his hands).

Dallas Goedert caught 5-of-6 targets for 77 yards and a touchdown in Week 11 against the Browns.

Goedert had 54 of Carson Wentz's first 73 yards. He had a TD vultured by Richard Rodgers but managed a red-zone touchdown in the fourth quarter to bring the Eagles within a score. Goedert has been a plug-in TE1 with Zach Ertz out of the lineup, but his target share is going to take a hit if Ertz returns next week.

Dallas Goedert has a team-high 16 percent target share over the past two weeks.

He's caught nine passes for 110 yards and a touchdown over the past couple weeks, becoming Carson Wentz's primary target -- welcomed production for fantasy managers who hung on to Goedert through his month out of the Eagles' lineup. Zach Ertz's return from injury -- as early as Week 12 -- could take away some opportunity for Goedert. We've seen both Eagles tight ends produce though.

Target Share is a very good predictive metric for detailing passing pecking order. 16% really isn't that high, but it leads the team the last 2 weeks (those weeks being where every offensive weapon was more or less back for the Iggles).
