TE Darnell Washington, PIT (1 Viewer)

As far as real football goes this kid should not have fallen to the 3rd round.
Suffered from the same thing as Roschon. Playing behind a "generational" talent. It obviously means there are more question marks in the profile, but for both I also viewed it as positives as far as commitment/team player/work ethic intangibles are concerned. No crying about playing time or stat compiling. No transferring to try to get more of the spotlight. May never rise to the levels I hope, but they tend to stick around in the league longer, thus getting more opportunities, than a lot of the other "me" players.

I get Roschon more because he is a RB and that position has been devalued…as far as Washington goes he is a complete freak and the combo of his size and blocking ability made him a very safe pick…as long as he stays healthy I don’t see a scenario where he would not be worthy of a second round pick.

I believe there were health concerns... with his knee, specifically.

Whether or not this ever becomes an issue is another matter. But these types of downgrades happen every year. Sometimes with merit, sometimes without.

I don't think the impact will be seen in fantasy leagues, but I am hopeful he has some clutch/impactful catches and maybe earns a little more play time. He's got hands, a solid catch radius, and is a huge target for Pickett. It's all building blocks to 2025 when I'd hope they let Freiermuth walk in FA if they are comfortable in what Washington has shown to that point. Not that I'm saying it's likely to happen, but if he shows a lot this season, Steelers could move on from Freiermuth with a $400k dead cap hit against $2 mil in savings.
