TE David Njoku, CLE (1 Viewer)

David Njoku (knee) is not on Cleveland's final Week 14 injury report against the Bengals.

Njoku will immediately come back to TE1 status with Amari Cooper (hip) questionable and potentially limited against the Bengals. It has the makings of a smash spot if Deshaun Watson can rebound from an ugly first game back from suspension. Njoku practiced all three days this week and ultimately only lost a week to this new knee injury.

Browns TE David Njoku Reveals he is at a new Weight
...It looks like Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku has put on a bit of weight this off-season. Njoku revealed in an Instagram story that he is 270 pounds and referenced it to be muscle.
LINK to Instagram photo with caption
Njoku is listed at 247 pounds by the Cleveland Browns offices site, which may not be totally accurate. Njoku relies on athleticism and speed to separate himself from other tight ends.
ast year with the Browns, Njoku had a breakout season of 628 receiving yards and four touchdown in 14 games played. With a hopefully better Deshaun Watson and better injury luck, Njoku could be in store for an even bigger 2023.

He will always be overrated.
It looked like he was finally breaking out last year with Brissett, but then injuries hit and then he missed valuable time to gel with Watson. Clearly has immense athletic talent, but lacks consistency.

If the Browns do become more pass happy, it's possible that he becomes underrated, although hard to see much upside with Cooper, Moore, and DPJ also commanding targets.

He will always be overrated.
Weird, who is overrating him?
He got a fair amount of buzz last offseason when he signed that big contract. As mentioned, looked promising for a bit in the first half of the year.
Well sure he does deserve some attention as a tier 2/3 TE, but I don't recall anyone ever talking about like the next big thing.
He is and SHOULD carry some decent value in regards to the tight end market, but nobody is offering or even asking for first rounders for the guy.

David Njoku caught 2-of-3 targets for 24 yards in the Browns’ Week 1 win over the Bengals.

Deshaun Watson tried to hit Njoku on a deep shot early in the game, but the pass sailed over Njoku’s hands. The throw was one of many missteps from Watson in his 2023 opener. If Watson and the offense can get in sync and put together a few more touchdown-scoring drives, Njoku could be a focal point of the team’s red zone attack. However, his 10 percent target share in Week 1 isn’t going to cut it. He will look to get more involved in the passing attack in Week 2 against the Steelers.

To early to worry about this guy? Seems like the same ol thing, big hype and then the usage just isn't there. Then we get the other TE snaking his TD haha

I mean, what TE didnt exactly stink the first week? Only two guys had double digit points in my 0.5ppr league and nobody owned them.

David Njoku caught all four targets for 48 yards in the Browns’ Week 2 loss to the Steelers.

Njoku was mostly an afterthought on this night, managing a low 10 percent team target market share. Although he ended the game second in receiving, the relative inadequacies of quarterback Deshaun Watson paired with devastating pressure from the Pittsburgh pass rush made it difficult for the offense to maintain any semblance of consistency. Fantasy managers are left waiting for Njoku to demonstrate the reported preseason chemistry with Watson for another week.

another dud, but Browns are going to have to open up the passing game with Chubb out. You'd think Watson would target his TEs.

He might but I saw where Akins caught a pass Monday night as well. Not sure of the splits with these guys going forward.

Scrubbing the WW for TEs and checking usage-
Njoku snap shares- wk1- 73%, wk 2- 85% - definitely on the field enough to produce for ff.
Team targets on the year:
Cooper and Moore- 1-2 with 17/16
..
..
DPJ with 6, Njoku with 6-- Bell, Goodwin and Bryant with 4 apiece, 1 for Akins
and the RBs with 9

Route rate up to 88% this week so there's hope for an increase in targets but so far, not great.

Read this headline just now on Rotoworld, Browns TE David Njoku (burn) is questionable for Week 4 against the Ravens, and seriously thought at first Rotoworld went full savage and listed him as questionable due to being a (bum), lol.

Hope he's alright.

from what I read, it was minor and he’s going to try to play.

but they did elevate a TE from the practice squad, so that’s never a good sign.

I looked into it further. He burned himself when lighting his fire pit in his backyard.

Hey man, we've all been there. Easy on the lighter fluid there, big guy.

CBS Sports’s Josina Anderson reports David Njoku (burns) is expected to play in Week 4 against the Ravens.

Njoku was added to the injury report on Saturday after suffering burns to his face and arm Friday night. The incident occurred while he was lighting a firepit in his backyard. It’s unclear how much he will play this week and Njoku was already seeing underwhelming usage as a pass-catcher. Fantasy managers should look elsewhere for tight end production in Week 4.

David Njoku (burns to face) will not practice on Wednesday.
Njoku suffered burns on his face and arm on before Week 4 and was listed as questionable but managed to play. However, he played through the injuries en route to six catches for 46 yards. After also having a bye week to recover, we should assume that Njoku will be back out on the field this Sunday but will need to keep an eye on practice reports going forward.

He went full Eddie Murphy “now that’s a fire!” didn’t he? :lmao:

Uncle Gus

:lmao:

I have intentionally not searched for the pictures of Njoku. It's like the Nick Chubb knee injury, you hate to see it but also you literally don't want to see it.

David Njoku Showed Off Face Burns, Unreal He Played 2 Days Later | Pat McAfee Reacts

Glad he's OK, but whoa. Dude is lucky his eyeballs are OK. Can't imagine putting on / taking off his helmet bc the fit on those is super tight - must be excruciating.

If I'm a Cleveland Brown and I get a grade 1 ankle sprain...then I see David Njoku walk in with his fur coat and weird full head mask on and he says "I'm suiting up." Dang, tape that thing up I'm playing.

Took Wed and Thu off, practiced on Friday. Questionable and obviously a bad matchup (SF) but my money would be on he's playing.

David Njoku (ankle) practiced on Thursday.
After being a DNP on Wednesday, Njoku was upgraded to a limited participant on Thursday.

The Browns’ stud tight end has popped up on the injury report with a number of minor issues throughout the season, but played in every game for them this season. Whatever ankle issue he’s dealing with is likely minor, as we’d expect him to be on the field for Week 9 against the Cardinals. Njoku has turned in two solid fantasy outings with P.J. Walker under center and will be a boom-or-bust TE2 this week.

I'm officially worried for my LaPorta bye week filler but dude is tough as they come so I'll take 85% Njoku over anything on the WW (Everett, Musgrave, Otton, Mayer, Bellinger)

Dang....wish I hadn't written that now I'm having second thoughts about the Chargers TE lol.....he missed the Bears game (hip) but practicing in full this week....

Cheers man, we are in the same bye week filler boat here.

Last 4g Njoku is averaging 7 targets v 4.25 for Everette (similar production.) I’ll stick with the banged up guy in a tougher matchup on paper just outta respect for still having half his face.

He's running routes that PJ can actually hit. Not sure he can have another game like last week but here's hoping.

Well, should we be more worried with Watson at QB?

Maybe

David Njoku’s target shares in the first five games of 2023 — 10%, 10%, 13%, 21%, 12%

Njoku’s past two target shares — 26%, 27%
Worrisome. I'm now looking at TE waivers and guys like Everett, Mayer and maybe Higbee may get an equal or higher target share this weekend. Roll of the dice but Watson rarely throws to TEs...
