TE Evan Engram, DEN (1 Viewer)

Faust thanks for the links. I have a feeling that I won't be the only one trying to target Evan Engram late in the ff draft as TE2. Low risk high reward.

Gotta get thru the draft but if Denver doesn't add one of the high-end prospects he is not going to be viewed as a TE2...he will be very much in demand playing for Payton.

Yep. He should be being drafted no later than like TE7.

anyone who wants Engram should hope that Denver drafts a top TE prospect. Engram is going to have a good year regardless, but if DEN drafts someone, that'll help y'all keep the ADP lower

FBG has him ranked closer to #16.
That must either be out of date, or pending the draft thinking Denver could still take a tight end. There's no respectable ranking that won't have Engram as a top 12 TE at the lowest heading into 2025.
In FFPC (TEP) he's getting drafted as TE10 in drafts covering the last 10 days.

I'd rank him as TE7 right now in this format maybe a spot or two lower in standard PPR, really not sure on that, play that so little I'm almost confused ranking them-a guy like Andrews who I have ranked lower then Engram gets elevated the lower you value receptions.

I'm about the same on him. I could see some people pushing him towards 10-12 because of his age and the hype around this years rookie crop. But considering what he showed in Jacksonville and now landing on the Bronco's with Payton, I can't see what I'd consider guaranteed production for at the minimum next year going down further than that in favor of question marks that haven't shown it at the NFL level yet.

After Sutton what do the Broncos really have?
I'm starting to like this guy more and more, decent upstart QB entering Year 2
2 new RBs that are expected to make a strong ground game to lean on
114/963 yards in Jax in 2023, that's not a misprint I swear
The man caught 114 balls in one season as a Tight End
Dumpster fire in Jax last season
His yds per ctach has been dropping in recent seasons to the point he needs the volume of catches to overcome under 10 yds per catch, that could change in Denver
He's 30 yrs old and hasn't cracked more than 3=4 TDs a year since he was a rookie, only had 1 last season

OK, time to re-up this Engram thread. He was dropped last night - locked in for 24hrs, but not sure what to do. Kelce is my 1, and I have Goedert as my 2.....would have taken Engram as my 1 if he didn't get picked before I had the chance.

He's dinged, but he was a darling to a lot of smart players preseason....what's the scoop?

He had very suspect usage in that game, he was rotating a lot with Adam Trautman and someone named "Lucas Krull" before he was injured in the 4th quarter.

Nathan Jahnke - NFL Usage and Production Report: Week 1

10. Monitor Evan Engram's health

Engram suffered a calf injury. He tried to return for one play in the fourth quarter but decided against playing again after that play.

The Broncos' tight ends have not been on fantasy radars in any league size in the first two years of Sean Payton being the head coach. That changed this off-season, when the team added Engram from the Jacksonville Jaguars. Engram played 33 of 54 snaps in the preseason when both he and Adam Trautman were playing, while Trautman took 27 snaps, suggesting this would remain a heavy rotation.

The Broncos continued their rotation through the first three quarters of this game. Engram only played in 26 of a possible 57 snaps, running a route on 17 of 35 pass plays. It is near-impossible to have fantasy value at tight end running a route on less than 50% of the team's pass routes. He caught three passes for 21 yards.

Part of the problem is that Lucas Krull was also part of the rotation, which wasn’t the case in the preseason. Engram’s only snap in a two-tight-end set was out of 02 personnel. The Broncos used 12 personnel for 10 plays in the first three quarters, and Trautman and Krull were the two tight ends for all 10 of those plays.

While Engram was drafted to be a fantasy starting tight end, it’s not out of the question to drop him, particularly if he misses time due to the calf injury.
Engram had 26 of 57 snaps
Krull has 22 of 57
Trautman had 44

I drafted Engram because he was the best TE on a Sean Payton team and was talked up as a Joker on the offense. I watched the preseason and saw him play a fair amount... I didn't draft Engram to not play half the snaps, injury or not. It's one game but a bit concerning.

Someone named Lucas Krull led the Broncos' TE room in receptions in 2024
That says a lot about the Broncos' TE room in 2024 and their subsequent moves in the offseason.
It says that Payton places a lot of importance on blocking and versatility. Trautman, Krull and Adkins (when he gets off IR) will continue to get plenty of snaps going forward

Edit: Adkins is not on IR but should return to the lineup by Week 3 or 4. Payton loves him

A lot of flag planting on this guy as a top 5-10 TE.....only one game, but the comps to Jimmy G usage are certainly not looking good....
